Connecting Error Steam Deck, since the BS update

Good Evening, ever since the major update, BS, connecting and playing on the Steam Deck is now impossible, i log into game okay, character screen okay, but when I click “play” the loading screen appears then it goes back to the SteamOS UI, then back clicking play on the SteamOS

Any ideas what’s happen since the update, it was working perfectly fine before the update on my steam deck

Many thanks

Hello @Blaine1990,

I am sorry to hear you are having issues playing on your Steam Deck. Please note that, unfortunately, these devices are not fully supported so we would not be able to guide you on any specific settings that may be causing a conflict with the update but here are some things you can usually try on Windows if a similar issue comes up, perhaps some may work similarly on the deck:

  1. Ensure your video drivers are up to date.
  2. Set Windows power settings to High Performance.
  • Press Windows + R, type “powercfg.cpl” into the Run window, and then press Enter.
  • Select the radio button next to the High performance power plan. You may need to click Show additional plans first.
  1. Adjust your in-game video settings. (sometimes just changing them back and forth will reset the issue)
  2. Clean boot Windows by following these instructions:
How to perform a clean boot in Windows (to reduce startup applications/Check for Malware).
  3. Reset your video driver software to the default settings.
  4. Check for evidence of overheating.
  5. Please verify the integrity of game with the Steam integrity check
How To run a Steam Integrity Check

See you in Aeternum! :wolf:

Thank you for your reply, I’m having no issues on my computer, it’s just the Steam Deck, once I’m free I’l follow your guild.

Thanks again

Blaine

Hi. I just got round to playing NW on Steam Deck.

This happens no matter which character I select and happens no matter if I use 5g or 2.4g WIFI;

CONNECTION ERROR: Unable to connect to the server. Please confirm your internet access and try again.

Using plugged in network via STEAM Deck Dock fixes the problem and allows game to play. I just need to configure controller to my liking.

I have easy anti cheat [EAC] installed and use ‘proton experimental’. All software / firmware / drivers are up to date.

Edit: STEAM Deck is vey popular and though we understand it is not officially supported maybe it should be. After all; STEAM reports the game as playable on the SD and the game is sold [seller] on STEAM.

They’re was an Proton Update which fixed the problem I was having, I’m not having the connection Error now.

Are you running new world in develope mode? And using Proton Experimental?

FPS down to 30
