Hello @willdixon332, welcome to New World Forums! I’m sorry to hear you are unable to even select a world to start the your adventure!
We can start troubleshooting by doing the following:
-
Make sure your system clock is set to the correct time. To learn more about setting your time and time zone, go to Microsoft Support.
-
Verify integrity of game files
To learn how to verify your game files, go to Steam Support.
-
Try adding Windows firewall exceptions manually:
-
Press Windows + R, type “firewall.cpl” into the Run window, and then press Enter.
-
Click Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall and then click Change settings.
-
Look for the game in the list of allowed apps and features. If it’s present, make sure it’s checked, and that both the Private and Public columns have a check mark. If the game is missing from the list, you must add it.
-
Click Allow another app…, locate and select NewWorldLauncher.exe, and then click Add.
-
Once you’ve done that, make sure that New World has check marks under both the Private and Public columns.
-
-
Toggle IPv6:
- From the Start/Windows Menu, select Settings.
- Select Network and Internet.
- In the Status section, under Change your network settings, select Change adapter options.
- When the Network Connections window opens, right-click your network connection.
- Select Properties.6. Scroll to Internet Protocol version 6.
- Uncheck the Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) box.
- Select OK to save your changes for the selected network adapter.
- Try launching the game again. A PC restart may be necessary.
Let me know how it goes!
After trying all of this I am still l getting the same Error Message. Is there any other possible things I could try to fix the Issue?
Thank you for replying!
By any chance do you have a VPN or something similar that may need to be turned off?
Do you play wireless? If so please try to connect wired to check if there’s any difference.
Any other problems with your internet when you play New World? I mean things like using google while the game is running in the background?
We can also check if you are experiencing any packet loss. You can use various debugging tools to do this, including Packet Loss Test.
To test, go to https://packetlosstest.com/ and click the big Start Test button to start the test. Once the test is complete, the results are displayed.
See How to Fix Packet Loss – Packet Loss Test for information on resolving problems discovered in testing.
Port forward
Try opening the necessary ports on your router to allow traffic between your network and our servers. If you don’t know how to forward ports, https://portforward.com/ is a good place to learn.
- TCP: 80, 443
- UDP: 33435
if none above works we can try the following:
- Relog to steam

- Refreshing internet connection
- From the Start menu, begin typing ‘cmd’.
- In the results that populate, right-click the Command Prompt result and select Run as administrator.
- Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter. Wait a few seconds and when the command prompt appears, proceed to the next step.
- Type ipconfig /registerdns and press Enter.
- Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.

Hello techno wizard
Once again nothing helped the issue.
All right thanks again for let me know!
Can you please confirm with me if you are playing over the Wi-fi or Ethernet cable? Does this happens only with New World? Can you browse the internet while New World runs in the background?
I am playing over Wi-Fi, and yes I can browse the internet while New World is running. I haven’t had this issue with any other game.
Thank you @willdixon332. Lets try to check if there is any pending updates from steam, you may need to completely exit steam and sign back in and lastly if nothing changes delete and redownload the game.
If after all that the issue still persist please contact customer service by using the link below for further actions:
