I will watch event viewer as well as other monitoring programs as it happens and nothing is showing out of the ordinary at time of crash. Temps are solid. Etc.
Now at crash, I’m unable to see anything after that because it crashes to a blank screen and my system then is frozen and either reboots itself after a minute or so, or I hard reboot.
the event viewer will normally still show an error either way.
just note what time it happens and then look at the logs and see if it there is one.
if it dosent show anything then i would assume it is your gfx that have an issue and then you can use your warranty on it.
I’m pretty confident it’s not the gfx card. New World is the only game and software for that matter, where I have crashes.
I currently use this card on tons of other resource intensive games with zero issues. Ive also performed rigorous benchmark testing on the gfx card and it always comes back error free.
Its a normal out of the box(not overclocked), gigabyte nvidia gtx 970 card that falls into the required specs as put forth by AGS to play the game. So it should be working with a breeze.
Just for the sake of trying: NW seems to have some trouble with some of the GeForce-Cards. Try UNDERclocking with MSI Afterburner or sth. and underclock GPU-Clock and Memory-Clock about 5 - 10%. According to some threads in the german forums players got the game to work without freezes after making that change…
Sorry I was looking at the wrong thing, didn’t even realize there was an event viewer in windows until now. wow, great troubleshooting resource. Anyway, I’m finding numerous errors, have researched them online, but not quite sure exactly what the issue may be.

for #1 try open your cabinet and take out gfx and put it back in just to be sure that it havent been kinda pushed out of the slot. if this dosent work i dont think there is anything to do since it seems like a bug in windows that sometimes happens and since you already tried everything else this is the last thing i would try. i dont think it is your gfx that are faulty at all.
for #2 have you installed the drivers for your sound on motherboard? this error is something with your sound/headset. try install all drivers for motherboard/headset and also enable sound in nvidia control panel.
for #3 this can be ignore since it is a “bug” in microsoft coding. this is permission settings in windows 10 and Reg database but this dosent cause any problems and just shows the error. i wouldnt recommend trying to mess with it since it can cause the entire windows 10 to be messed up and need reinstall.
#1. Yes i Pulled out the card today and made sure all dust and anything else was completely cleaned from inside and out then put it back on the mobo. (Game still crashed)
#2. I actually dont use onboard sound or even a sound card. I run my sound through an audio interface attached through USB, so the audio interface process all sound( this is my setup because I game in my studio where I record many podcasts and do voiceover work)
#3. Thanks I will ignore. I saw others online say the same.
A.
Today I thought maybe it was a failing PSU and went out to purchase a brand new one, installed it, game still crashed.
B.
As I had said in my original post, my system has never crashed anywhere else or in any other game, but today I tried running a GPU stress test in the “Valley” benchmark by UNIGINE. When I ran it my system actually crashed the same it does in New World.
So now Im even more confused and so frustrated, still cant login to New World.
Hey I play on a GTX 970 and get daily crashes to desktop as well. Mine does come up with an error message, do you want me to put the error message in here in case it’s the same thing?
the usb still use onboard sound but this shouldnt affect your gfx.
the only thing i can even think about is the memory on your gfx but even that sounds odd because that would result in BSOD and i must admit i really have no idea what could cause this at all now.
i am really sorry that i couldnt be more helpfull on this and sorry for you not being able to enjoy the game atm but i hope someone can come with help to resolve this.
Sure plz post error message and what your work arounds are. Ive been crashing since launch and have never seen an error message. It always just paralyzes my system and everything goes blank. So ive been in the dark with no clue whats even going on.
Thank you so much for your time and attempts to assist. Yes, thats why I finally reached out here on forums because after months of troubleshooting, I too havent been able to figure it out.
Have you tried replacing the cords to everything…i know my last client(had something similar)( i run a PC business IRL, been doing it for 18 years) there could be a short in one of the wires/cords that sort circuiting and making your system flip out… my theory is you run stable with everything else… however when running NW… for whatever reason the game is drawing more wattage(trying to load the game) and somewhere there is a “short” and then the system flips… Cant confirm but its a theory…
Interesting you put that since that(im sure you know) is a GPU stress test… cine is more a CPU one…Whats gets me tho is on steam this is what the min/rec. are.
MINIMUM:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows® 10 64-bit
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-2400 / AMD CPU with 4 physical cores @ 3Ghz
Additional Notes: Internet connection required to play, offers in-game purchases
and you said here
"
" and your right it SHOULD but i highly suspect that possibly a newer GPU would work… i have zero issues on my GTX 1080 but maybe upgrade to a 6 gig card like the 1060 6 gig? and see if that works…i know you said you dont want to but after all… i know you did say you want to play NW…maybe changing up the GPU? After all you did do a majority of trouble shooting…and it just seems like the gtx 970 for whatever reason doesnt play nice with NW…because just a few other posts i read yesterday seems like other people were having issues with the SAME exact card…
So either A. NW devs need to put out a patch or B. try getting a newer? card…
The ONLY other thing i could suggest is maybe underclock your CPU to a lower Ghz…
Well with so many 970’s having issues, instead of us all pulling out our hair trying every troubleshoot in the universe, maybe AGS can patch the 970 or just admit there are known issues with 970’s and we can all move on and either quit the game or upgrade.
Im mostly an MMO player and all MMOs work perfect on the 970, past, present and future, except NW.
When the 970 is specifically labeled in their “recommended” specs, its pretty deceiving at this point.
Though yes the 970 is an older card, upgrading ONLY to play NW just seems pretty frustrating at this point right?
Same issue here. Crashes to black screen, but sound still works. Only thing i can do is press the restart button on the computer. Only game it happens too
