Constant Crashing / Dynamic Resolution Not Working

  • What is your character name in New World:
    -Groadzy

  • What server/world did you experience your issue on:
    -Olympus

  • Describe the issue you are experiencing:
-Started experiencing frequent crashes after the first game update.
-Constant crashing happens any where but seemingly more so in outposts or highly populated areas, but will also happen in low pop areas and in a non graphically demanding environment, just less often.
-Crashing will happen at any time. Could be after an hour or two of playing or upon joining a game within the first minute or two.

  • Is this a bug or an exploit:
    -Bug

  • (if a bug) How did the issue effect your gameplay:
-Game freezes, still utilizing CPU but not GPU and windows detects response from program so does not say program not responding, using alt f4 will terminate the game but the music will continue to play and steam thinks you are still playing the game while windows thinks the game is still running until you terminate through task manager. Upon rebooting game you will have to wait in queue to rejoin, just to crash again and wait in queue again…Or i can be in a fight or in the open world with PVP turned on and crash and then die wasting azoth to get back to where i was, or if in a excavation doing a dungeon.

  • (if a bug) Were you able to recover from the issue:

  • No, it is still persistent after all subsequent updates.
  • (if a bug) Please include a screenshot or video of the issue that you have experienced:
-Watch a video of someone playing new world pretend its you playing the game, then pause the video and pretend like you can’t un-pause or resume game until you terminate program and reboot it, you can even play the new world soundtrack in the background while the video is paused to better recreate the experience, then feel free to sit in a queue after if your really looking to torture yourself, but I’m sure you have a ton of bugs to fix :stuck_out_tongue:

  • What are the steps to reproduce the issue as you experienced:
-Play the game, it happens constantly…

-My graphical drivers are up to date. I have also check integrity of the files through steam and problem still persists. I have also tried elevating priority and every suggested troubleshoot tip(as suggested by SirWolfe and other online sources) to date with no avail. Windows is also up to date.

MOBO: ASUS ROG RAMPAGE V EDITION 10
CPU: Intel Core i7-6950x
GPU: ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce GTX 1080 TI 11GB
RAM: 64 Gb G.Skill Tridentz Royal
PSU: ASUS Thor 1200w Platinum
Windows 10

-The graphical optimization NEEDS to be addressed, it has a massive impact on the PVP experience. The fact that this game has bricked graphics cards where no other game has done so proves the poor optimization. While the cards may have not been properly soldered this is the only game to push the cards to the limit where they are breaking. The graphics in this game are good but no where near the level for the amount of resources it requires to run the game(power draw of around 500w, higher than any other game I’ve played including warzone). I’m running the game on all low graphical settings with a resolution of a native 4k monitor 3840 x 2160. The crashes still occur even when downscaling to non native 2560 x 1440(which looks like crap)

-The dynamic resolution option in the graphics menu does absolutely nothing…other than give you hope for smooth gameplay at the expense of visuals. I cap fps at 60 and render resolution does nothing for framerate, it is supposed to keep you at 60 fps(or w/e your target framerate is)and dynamically change the resolution of the game for a smoother experience, in case you guys didn’t know when implementing it…also when adjusting things such as object detail from high to low it seems only some objects are affected while others are left in a static state of detail.(for instance chest piece will be noticeably graphically different from high to low graphics but boots and arm guards are left in a high detail state even when detail is set to low)

-I hope Amazon Game Studios can turn it around and improve the game in a reasonable timeframe because the game has a good core and I have enjoyed it for most part but have also been a bit underwhelmed by the overall experience so far. Clearly this game needed more time to be developed.

-It would mean a lot to the community if you actively addressed these issues in a central location such as News | New World with any sort of time frame on update schedules, and/or which bugs/exploits your currently prioritizing to fix.

-After recent updates happens more frequently within the first 2-10minutes of playing. Game is un-playable, I’ll have to wait for another update when it’s addressed I guess :frowning:
-trying out capping fps at 30 which hasn’t crashed yet but will update if does, not a fix because 30 fps is sluggish.

-Thanks

Capping fps at 30 prevents crashes on my PC. 60 fps or unlimited will lead to a crash after some minutes. Wonder if AGS is even working on fixing graphics-related bugs.
