My connection is 1000/1000. It’s more than good enough. I have no hardware nor internet issues. Only change is the update on Wednesday.,
Agreed! El Dorado I keep holding down to start a heavy and nothing happens sometimes. Which is a big problem when you expect to do a heavy during a window of time but the game doesn’t recognize it.
To be clear my “lag” is at 50ms… Which is great so this shouldn’t be happening. Rubberbanding and input recognition being ignored is making it very hard to respond properly in game. Even grit abilities of monsters can’t be telegraphed cause of this lag.
Hello all
Thanks for the report. I’m really sorry about the problem you’re having right now. The developers are investigating the situation.
For the lag detected we have some tricks to try, of course the Devs are aware of it and are working to fix it.
So first please follow this steps to clean the connection state and try the game again:
1- Open CMD as administrator.
2- Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.
3- Type ipconfig /registerdns and press Enter.
4- Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.
5- Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter.
6- Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.
7- Restart your computer.
Go to check: Steam Support :: Verify Integrity of Game Files
Then run the client as Admin and play the game.
Regards,
Well, doesn’t help as the lag isn’t on my end.
It just adds to all the frustration. Restarting 4 days in order to find a server without queues, being on a European server last maintenance (and one of the very last ones re-started), dropping out of the game every few minutes, waiting ages to get back on makes a lot of missed game time…
A bit more info, and a bit more apologetic sounding replies might help. No, not help, but at least give the impression, that someone really cares.
We do really care. The solution above worked for a lot of players. Even worked for me not living close to any server.
You can try the following as well:
- Check for pending BIOS updates.
- Verify that the drivers are correct and up to date: New World Compatible GPU Driver Update - Support
- Do a file check: Steam Support :: Verify Integrity of Game Files
- Check the EAC: Locate the game directory, and then select the “EasyAntiCheat” subfolder. Click EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe to run the installer as an administrator, fix it if necessary.
Note: The Steam Games installation directory will generally be in: C:\Program Files\ Steam (x86)\ SteamApps\ Common - Avoid using VPN, and you should remove other programs such as bots to mine or fish or to avoid being AFK. Even overlays from unofficial Amazon maps.
- Check out New World System Requirements - Support | Amazon Games it is very important that you are using Windows 10, because for 11, New World is not yet optimized.
- You can lower the resolution to High in the settings.
After all steps above: - Shut down the computer, completely, start again and run the Steam client as administrator and try again.
1. Close other applications that may be taking up your bandwidth. Closing applications that take up high amounts of bandwidth, or experience bandwidth spikes, may increase the total bandwidth available on your computer.
- Press CTRL + Alt + Delon your keyboard, then select Task Manager.Note: Click More Details if you’re seeing the simplified view.
- Under the Processes tab click Network to filter applications by their network usage.
- End any applications or tasks taking up high amounts of bandwidth.
2. Switch to a wired connection. Switching to a wired connection ensures that lag isn’t being caused by wireless interference, weak wireless signal, etc. Connect your computer directly to your router or modem and then disable your computer’s wireless adapter to ensure it’s not being used.
To disable your wireless adapter:
-
Press Windows + R, type “ncpa.cpl” into the Run window, and then press Enter.
-
Select your wireless adapter. It may be labeled “Wireless Network Connection” or something similar, and could also have a wireless signal strength indicator under it.
-
Click Disable this network device or Disable. Your computer is no longer able to connect to wireless networks, ensuring that your connection is wired only.Note: You can enable your wireless network device by following the steps above, and then clicking Enable this network device or Enable.
3. Restart your router and modem. 1. Unplug the power cable from your router and modem. If your router or modem has a battery, remove it. -
Wait for 30 seconds and then plug the power cable back into your modem. If you removed a battery from your modem, put it back now. Wait another 30 seconds for your modem to boot.
-
Plug the power cable into your router. If you removed a battery from your router, put it back now.
4. Troubleshoot your firewall. Try adding Windows firewall exceptions manually: -
Press Windows + R, type “firewall.cpl” into the Run window, and then press Enter.
-
Click Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall and then click Change settings.
-
Look for the game in the list of allowed apps and features. If it’s present, make sure it’s checked, and that both the Private and Public columns have a check mark. If the app is missing from the list, you need to add it.
- Click Allow another app…, locate and select the app, then click Add.
- Once you’ve done that, you need to ensure that the app is checked, and that it has check marks under both the Private and Public columns.
Updating your firewall software may help resolve connectivity issues. For instructions on how to update third party firewall software, we recommend checking the support pages provided by your firewall software publisher. If possible, you should also add an exception within your firewall software.
If you’re still having trouble, the next step is to disable or uninstall your firewall temporarily. We do not recommend leaving your firewall disabled long term. It should be enabled or reinstalled as soon as you’ve confirmed that it’s not causing your issues.
Steps for disabling 3rd party firewalls vary, so we recommend checking the manufacturer’s support pages before uninstalling your firewall entirely.
To uninstall a third party firewall:
-
Windows 10:
- On the Start menu select Settings.
- Select System > Apps & features.
- Select the program, and then select Uninstall. Some apps built in to Windows can’t be uninstalled.
- Follow the directions on the screen.
One troubleshooting step we’d like to take is testing for packet loss. You can use various debugging tools to do this, including Packet Loss Test.
To test, go to https://packetlosstest.com/ and click the big Start Test button to start the test. Once the test is complete, the results are displayed.
See How to Fix Packet Loss – Packet Loss Test for information on resolving problems discovered in testing.
Ensure that you’re not using a VPN or Proxy while playing, they can cause connectivity issues such as high latency. We recommend disabling them temporarily while you play, to see if that resolves the issue.
If all above does not work, please provide the most recent log, but preferably provide 3 logs from: Users<username>\AppData\Local\AGS\New World\LogBackups
-
If applicable, provide a single log file from: \Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\AGS\New World\CrashDB\reports\
-
DxDiag report:
- Go to Windows Start search bar and type dxdiag.
- Click on dxdiag.exe.
- When green progress bar goes away, select Save All Information and save the file to their desktop.
And your system Information (OS, Processor, RAM, HDD Space, Graphics card, etc.
Sadly, this solved nothing.
As mentioned in OG post, this issue is not at my end. Everything was fine before last weeks maintenance, then the lag started. No lag issues, at all, before that.
I can confirm that after maintenance all connections/routing points to the European server in Germany has over 3k+ ping spikes, I checked my connection to nodes and the pings are stable at 50 MS, the real issue is nodes reaching the server and I have screenshots and proof to back this up, this is server sides.
On a side note, everyday evening European servers have 20%+ packet loss, and again this is from the final node o server not from my side to the final node.
Most people here complaining about latency have already said they’ve tried all of this and their systems are fully updated. If everything was working fine before and the issue is only with New World (started last week for me) I’m not sure why you would think it is a problem with the user’s PC.
This is either a routing issue or a problem with the server itself.
Up, any reply?
Yep, it’s worse after the last patch.
I used to get LAG Detect occasionally. The gameplay is UDP, but they push some TCP stuff for an update or something and it just DDOS’s itself.
I cannot play either. Love the game, but I’m done. I have packet captures of the data frames etc of what they are doing. I offered them in a post. a CM responded but seems the devs don’t care they have the $.
I’m not recommending this game seeing how it’s getting worse and worse. I was working my way to try and wait out to play wars. But I don’t want to play it in 3 years. I want to play it now.
FYI - If you do a packet capture of what is happening the game is causing TCP Suspicious Transgressions. This is NOT a good thing to cause to happen on a regular basis.
I’ve played other MMO’s with many players and never had issues like this. You are just flooding data out without a throttle.
I have a post where I said I’d offer captured packet data. The game logs don’t tell much as it’s network related. The game is causes a DDOS on itself. Positional data even for a 500 players should be a tiny amount of data. Unless you are trying to send every skill a player is using in 1km radius that would cause lag, and be silly.
My data is now old, and the new data I would capture would be fine but it’s 100% constant. I cannot play as it happened immediately. It used to be if there was 600-1000 players I’d get it on a rare occurance, that’s not true after 1.03 patch.
The chance to see the cause has probably passed as the best troubleshooting would be to have a dev on a server do a packet capture and someone on a client do it. Then you can cross correlate what is being send and received. This is standard network IT troubleshooting.
Yesterday I needed 3 tries to get on the server, today only 2. But every attack from me is lagging and I got a “Lag detected” as a disconnect. It’s only while I’m fighting. Running and gathering works fine. Before the patch from wednesday everything worked fine but now it’s bad and frustrating.
I have to add to this issue myself. I do not have the fastest internet (30/10), but i have sub 100ms ping to everything within europe, but i have now currently constant 500ms ping with spikes to 5000ms. I often also get crafting failed which I assume is because of packet loss.
I’ve got a good stable connection, no packet loss, yet things are very glitchy for me. Rubberbanding, skills not deploying when they should, etc. This has been going on since before the patch though. I’m a Canadian connected to US East. I get 100ms to my server. I know 100ms is a little high, but It’s very jarring in New World compared to other titles, in other games 100ms is perfectly fine and hardly noticeable. My hardware can keep up just fine, and I’m always a stable capped 60fps, yet my character is always glitching around, especially with Ice Gauntlet.
This issue is only getting worse. Now the game crashes if there’s to much lag. This weeks maintenance didn’t fix or solve any of the lag issues, they only seem to have gotten worse.
The issue is still NOT at my end. Nowhere else do I get any lag or any issues like this. Absurd that this issue is still present.
Have not read the log from this weeks maintenance, but whatever you did, solved my lag issues. The game is, once again, running as flawless as it was when I bought it. Well done, and thank you!
Lag getting worse for me on AP servers, every new maintenance or patch, getting worse.
Not only did running the game as admin not fix the game, it gave a new error. It created an unexpected steam appid text file, which I had to delete after turning off admin mode under compatibility.
I still have some minor lag issues.
Game is NOT enjoyable at all … Seems like it is getting a bit worse every time they patch it.
Issues right now:
- Lag. I can live with lag, but when it kills me more than once, I’d rather just log off.
- Drop in FPS to “fix” lag, but creates more lag …
- Recall to Inn makes the game crash (LOL)
- Have to press esc and then click to type. “Enter” does not work in-game.
- Any city is lag heaven.
- Lag is so heavy in cities, I can’t craft. Just exits the crafting window and says “crafting failed”.
The first 2 weeks, when NW was out, the game was flawless. It was amazing! After that, it’s just gone downhill for me.
