Continuing the discussion from Name Change Token:
I know this was discussed and closed in April, however, I do feel in the same way as other players in the previous post above. We’ve chosen our name based on a character, game, TV or other avenues of entertainment. However, as time progresses on, you kinda get tired of the look or maybe you’re a person who chose the opposite gender with a male/female name that you would like to change. As gamers, we know at times you’d wish you could change your appearance on the fly as in some other RPG and MMO’s games that can.
With that being said, I honestly like the idea on “how” to initiate the change as @Tamim and other have suggested and I’ll reiterate, however, there’s a few changes I would suggest along with current suggestion with my added notes and a bit of clean up on the wording.
How should the System work?
- Player purchases a Name Change Token via Shop.
- Player selects “Use” button to initiate purchase.
Two text boxes Appear:
- First name field, player types their current name.
- Second box field, player types in new desired name.
- “Name currently in use” is displayed if player cannot utilize the new desired name. (added) - Player chooses “Ok” to confirm new name.
Once the name is changed:
System Message appears in the general chat so that everyone would read it:
[Player’s old name] changed to [player’s new name]
Note: Not sure how I feel about this, maybe it seems like a good idea so your friends also know as well.
Limitations:
- Name changing is allowed once every 90 days. (changed from 30-45 days)
- Name change token available per character and per region for a total of two Name Change tokens per character on account. (added)
- Players can purchase more than one Name Change token on same character. (added)
- Player cannot utilize a newly purchased Name Change token once the 90 days have expired. (added)
Name Changing is only possible at certain times of the day for example: between 3:00 PM till 9:00 PM (This limitation is only to increase the chance of the system message to be read by a big amount of players since 3 pm till 9 pm are usually times where many players are online)
Note: I do not think it’s conducive to set a specific time when a player can change their name regardless of who’s on or not. Not every player will be online to see your name change including friends. The server would receive a notification of the name change at the time of the change.
For the Appearance Token, same limitations section applies along with the Name Change token with the exception of “name field boxes”. Upon purchasing “Appearance Token”, players would return to the “Customization Screen” to change characters appearance and confirmed with “Are you sure you want to choose this appearance!” Yes/No to confirm once the player has chosen their final appearance.
In conclusion, I would “hope” to see this in the future in New World. Currently, players are wanting to change their name but the only way to do so If players names are mass reported which get flagged to be changed. This is a “free” way to change the name, however, not every case is the same. This way, with the Name Change and Appearance Token, this would alleviate these issues players are dealing with currently.
