And I bet the majority of your no-ward runs weren’t Gold runs, either.
Groupfinder is supposed to make things easier, and it doesn’t when you still have to do everything you did before.
The majority of groups that would be using Groupfinder like random pugs and those not running in premade groups, absolutely needs people running Ward if they want to gold the content, especially m9-10.
The one silver lining of group finder is that we may possibly see less spam in /recruitment chat, but I doubt it.
I typically don’t PUG, but when I’m willing to subject myself to it I just do my own thing and monitor /recruitment in case an opportunity arises that I’d be interested in.
Ideally, group finder will be an easier way for me to test the waters without having to watch the channel that’s being spammed with things I’m not interested and/or shard sellers.
That niche group you are talking about is like 98% of recruitment chat. No one wants to spend 3 hours in mutations with non-warded players. No need to want speed runs to ask for gear.
Group finder is nice for normal dungeons and low mutation , anyone who scared for a big mutation will ask to link gear , it just way easier for returning players and people who just want chill experience in expeditions. Well done AGS
I was thinking. Wouldnt it be very practical to make use of the character bio page to share gear, different builds, roles, achiements, stats and so on. You could even make it up to the player what they want to showcase or share. So if they dont want to share theire stats or gear they dont have to. But then dont expect to get invited to hardcore m10 groups either.
When hovering over a player name/menu you click BIO and boom you have all the information you need. I see this useful for a lot of different purposes. You could get to know other players better, get inspired by theire builds, see impressive stats for different gamemodes and achiements and much more.
Think about it like your steam profile page where you choose what type of stuff you want to share and highlight for others to see
Stop stripping people with your eyes. Its bringing you to a new level of mmo otaku where you desire to look at someones… Assets.
But in all seriousness. You have to be some real micro managing neck beard to want to build your squad to be the best. And all this function would do is increase people invites to companies the higher stats you are to the point of it being statistic harrassment
Goodluck getting gold in M9 or M10 in a totally random pug group where no one has any ward. It will not happen.
Except not the important stuff like the actual gear they’re wearing, or their stats right now.
The information it DOES show is the information at the time of sign-up.
Amazon has developed an extensive API for AWS, and AGS has developed an extensive API for New World, and this is the best they could come up with.
Plus this is just the first version of the utility. I’d imagine they will continue to add features to it in the future. But for their first version, it works pretty well. The one thing they need is a screen at each dungeon that shows all available groups.
I think the idea was that everyone can link into the lobby instead of separate DM’s happening for all these people trying to set up groups. Just a more controlled environment i guess.
I too wondered why they didn’t give a hover option to inspect gear, but maybe they thought that was invasive for the average player? I know a lot of people like to hide it on games that have hide features as well. Idunno.
At the very least this slims the pool of candidates for your search, since you can set the minimum GS, and you can immediately see the stats and weapons. So that’s at least more to go on from the start if you are looking for any red flags. As far as ward gear in general, they should maybe have a clicker to select "Has wards, x3 x4 x5 so on and so forth. "
Yeah I imagine it’s coming in the future. My understanding is that this is a framework for something much more intricate in the future. I think it will definitely be coming in the future and is a heavily requested feature all throughout the PTR.
I will say though, ward definitely is not required to gold M9/M10. I think it’s absolutely helpful though, what I am always worried about is getting to the point where this is the perception. When the game starts shifting into that elitism where you must run specific builds to even be allowed into content.
I run a ton of PUGs and get plenty of gold runs with people that do not run full wards or really any wards. Although it’s much more important for light users and especially healers unfortunately. I am a light healer, but I’ve accidentally run the wrong gear before and got gold haha. Also if you see me heal I am far from a relaxed, stay out of the way style healer, I’m pulling people to help the tank and DPS’ing as well.
But! Yeah hoping they add the feature soon because it does feel like a preliminary feature that they will be building onto, especially if you read the Dev Blog it foreshadows some great things.
I’ve specifically asked for m9/m10 groups without ward gear before and those runs have gone just as smoothly, if not better then a fully warded group. People play smarter when they know they’ll get hit harder, rather than thinking they’re invincible. XD
But I see your point, seeing if they have ward gear would be nice, but if you care that much just dm before inviting.
