Just wandering if anyone else has the same issue. Usually the game uses 30-40% CPU usage and runs around 50-60c. When I go into town the CPU usage shoots up to like 80%+ and the temp goes up to like 75c+. Even with settings low and FPS capped at 60.
Running a Intel Core i7-9700K 3.6GHz (Usually runs around 4.5Ghz) NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super 8GB, 32GB DDR4.
And that is precisely why I upgraded from a 3500x to a 5800x… u can probably get away with a 5600x though.
When you hit 100% CPU usage, you will encounter lag spikes…
Very rarely with the 5800x it hits 50+ percent usage… it does happen but maybe for just a sec or so… with a weaker CPU such as the 9700K hitting 80% is not unexpected.
I have my OSD open at all time, with polling 500ms.
I have the same CPU, a i7 9700k 3.6ghz (turbo4.9). With a RTX 2080.
The same problem occurs in my game, I run into town, I have a massive frame drops. Also, my games is freezing frequently, temperatures of CPU gets too high.
Hello @mwesmike
Thank you so much for sharing, in the end, it could be thousands of reasons that can make the temps and usage vary, the best recommendation is to keep the rig clean, good airflow in the room.
You can check this guide just to be sure everything is also up to date: https://www.amazongames.com/en-us/support/new-world/articles/troubleshooting-frame-rate-and-performance-issues
If everything is okay you should not worry about temps as long as they are within the recommendation of the manufacturer and for the moment they seem okay and on the right limits, keep track of them.
Well, it turns out Bit Deffender was causing 20% CPU usage, so after I removed that, it stays around 60% usage now. The temps still run around 60-70c. Going to try using a better thermal paste as the one I used was the stock one applied 2 years ago.
That little sneaky bit defender, well glad you found it, and yeah thermal paste is always also a good option for the temps but if the most important thing is to keep the good practice of keeping and eye on them
Afar as I see it my gaming laptop should not have temp problems like this. I have tried everything that people have said even a complete reinstall of steam and the game itself Nothing has worked. so I do say it has to be on the game side. This all started after the last update I have a cooling try and plenty of airflow in my house. I still get temp that is way too high like 95c to 112c I have taken it into my local PC shop and they Ran their test and said that it was most likely the game that I am running. I put the Graphic down to love and cap the fps to 30 now I do like playing this game but why the bad optimization in this game, Spec of the laptop are AMD Ryzen 5 4600H NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 16 gigs of ram and a 512 SSD win 10.
I am at 40% cpu usage but my temps are at 95c when i am running new world regardless of in town or out in the woods. I play other games like satisfactory and my gpu will max out way before my cpu will and my cpu only gets up to 75c if that. I am running intel i7
I will be able to confirm is this why I get ‘lag detected’. I thought it was my internet, but I was wondering if it’s because I was pretty much 100% CPU on my ancient i5-3470S.
I did packet capturing to see if it was network as I don’t have a lot of bandwidth, but part of me was wondering if my CPU just couldn’t process what was received and the game thinks it’s lag.
It also takes minutes to load all of the assets in, even on my brothers new 5950X with an M.2 NVMe . My thought was maybe it blocked memory for the assets and is waiting for them to load and just get’s stuck.
Anyways, I have a 5800x on it’s way. I’ll be able to reply and figure out this weekend.
