So, I’m sitting in a queue which will probably take 2+ hours, and my case fans are going nuts.
It turns out that while I’m sitting in the queue, literally doing nothing, my CPU is at 20-40% usage and GPU is at 55% usage.
These queues are literally wasting untold amounts of energy.
Can you please change the queue to 2D or something so the GPU/CPU don’t do any work? Or maybe add a service + ticketing system that doesn’t run the game at all until our position in the queue arrives?
I am with you on that one. Using more energy in the queue than playing the game. 250 Watts just for the GPU, non stop, just to display the login queue screen.
And that is with 60 FPS cap and 60 Hz Vsync enabled.
My RTX 3080 is sitting at a permanent 2010 Mhz boost due to this. It does not even do that playing the game!
Surely this can and has to be improved to avoid all this energy being wasted.
I noticed that my GPU goes up to 80 degrees when at the menus when the game starts until logging in, but only low 70s during actual gameplay. Too many plants in the background or something
I wonder if Amazon is using peoples’ GPUs who are stuck in Queue for cryptocurrency mining, because its just absurd how many resources the login/queue screen needs for a menu screen.
Same issue here. I’m in the queue (somehow a queue only 15 long but it only moved to 14 in about fifteen minutes.)
My fan is blaring. My CPU is 71 C, my GPU is 74 C. I’m on an Intel Core i7 8700 and a NVIDIA GeForce RTS 2070. I do NOT have these problems in FFXIV or WOW or ESO or SWTOR or GW2. I am literally doing nothing but sitting in the queue and my computer is going nuts.
(I reported this during the open beta in July too, apparently nothing was done about it.)
In the closed beta it was good. but now in the menu the GPU reaches 75c and the CPU 69c !!!
In the game the GPU is above 80 and cPU 75c.
The game is poorly optimized.
WOW and FF on top my GPU reaches 65c.
When the game is better optimized I’ll play again
When the minimum and recommended specs are as low as they are, my i5-7600k and 970 should not be at a constant 90% with graphics on low and the frame rate capped at 30. I shouldn’t have to sacrifice gameplay performance just to get reasonable usage. I can only imagine what users with the min requirements are feeling. Side note I never go above 60 degrees on cpu and 75 on gpu
