just install Afterburner with RivaTuner and limit to 15fps while in queue
there are literally more people watching the queue than in the game. So in terms of number of players affected…
Got a RTX 2060, ryzen 7 3700x, 32G ram, lock fps to 60, every graphic on high and got 58c CPU and 65c GPU. So yeah cap your Fps or verufy your cooling.
This game is demanding my ass. Have you bothered to read what the minimum specs are? Or even the recommended specs? I blow them out of the water. And before anyone chimes in with their bullshit about cooling. I’m showing 85% cpu on a water cooled i5-7600k sitting at 50 degrees. This is with lowest graphics and frames capped to 30. I can push the graphics to high and not see an increase in cpu usage, only gpu. There’s no way this game should be eating up this much processing power. This is not a system issue it is a game issue and it needs to be addressed
I think the Queing is first thing to solve then at least we can play other than giving resources while we are Queue.
On an i9 + 3080 laptop:
CPU usage around 20%
GPU usage around 40%
Temps are about 60C for both
Graphics are all on “High” with the frame rate limited to 60.
All that seems very reasonable to me.
Some smart dev decided to put a fully decorated 3D live scene in the background of the character screen and by the number of people sitting in queue, it’s making a huge waste of power along with wasting resources of the PC for no reason. A simple full black jpg would have been thousand times better than this.
I personally go to settings > visuals and drop resolution all the way down to lowest 1024x768. That cools things a lot by itself and I expect would be enough for most. You can change it back once you’re in game. No need to burn so much electricty and lock your pc resources into producing character background for no reason.
A lot of great fixes, suggestions, and ideas here…but none of these should be required to sit in a game queue.
True but this is their first proper game, for both Amazon Games and Helix Games. And first thing they try is the new WoW killer. (Not that WoW killed themselves with the Activision ‘thing’ recently). Give them some slack, I know you payed for something big and after all these delays you would think they would get it right but apparently not.
Working as intended Kappa
To increase sales elsewhere -.-
40-50 C @ GPU
55-75 C @ CPU in menu atm
i9-10850k | 32GB | 3080
Biggest issue is in any heavily populated town… gets real warm o_o
Earlier this week there were updates to both nVidia and AMD drivers that had patches specific to New World MMO.
If you haven’t updated your GPU in the last few days, do so now.
Not saying it will address the concern here, but it might for some.
That said, I do agree with the OP that the screen before logging in should be a static 2D. Either an image or a pre-downloaded video clip.
my cpu wasnt having issues but my gpu was so i loaded a throttler to pull back when a temp is hit…oddly my fps didnt change one bit and no lag spikes or stuttering…not sure why its drawing extra power (I assume at least, as i decreased this also by a good 40%) for no notable performance increase. it went from 80c to 45c due to power draw decrease…still at 60fps everywhere so no idea what this game is doing to make it pump that much out
My GPU runs 5-10 degrees hotter while just sitting in queue than while playing the game.
Why does the minimized game need to put so much effort into a bunch of plants blowing in the wind that are faded out while the queue screen sits there?
Hopefully this gets patched ASAP. I don’t need a fancy background for a menu.
If your CPU/GPU is run that high, you have other problems with your PC than what the game is causing. Special the CPU. You got some cooling problems.
I’m running less than 60c CPU in-game or in the queue with just air cooling on this system. I was in the queue for 5 hours on day one on the east coast server until they when down, then jump over to the west coast server for a few hours. 60c was my highest CPU temperature all day. On max setting. While our systems are different, still way too hot for just normal running of anything.
Not a single response from the devs.
I’m running a heavily overclocked 10700k and I’m sitting at around only 50-55c because I’m using adequate cooling.
^this
Laptops always have mediocre cooling.
Try undevolting and underclocking your CPU. With XTU or Throttle stop.
You don’t need 4.5ghz to run New World. I dropped my max turbo boost on the same 9750H CPU to 3.8ghz. temps top out at 75C and I still get 60FPS with Vsync.
As others may have suggested, before I queue up, I set my resolution to the lowest value possible (1024x768) and 30 FPS Windowed. Once in game, I set the Visuals back up.
