Crafting and collecting legendary mats is one of my favourite parts of the game. My least favourite part is committing said legendary mats into a crafting table where I have very little control over the outcome besides what it looks like.
I get it, its a MMO, its luck based, you need to roll, thats how it works. True. But its a problem.
Lets take as an example an armor chest piece and trying to craft legendary. You invested all the time and money into gathering required legendary resources, you spent money on a house, taxes, trophies. You got the armorer gear, ear piece and the food. You are ready for 600…lets roll.
An orichalcum breast plate requires 16 asmodeum ingots, 12 runic leather and 7 phoenixweave. Ok. lets get to work. On my server, thats about $8k of materials for ONE. Ok, time to gather, collecting enough materials is going to take some time. OK, got the materials, now what.
Head to the locker, put on the gear, eat the food, triple check i have azoth and put it in the table. Then, I get to pick one (1) perk, and this is where the trouble lies.
On armor there are 4 perks that can change: 1 attribute perk and 3 other perks. You get to hand select one. So lets say we hand select luck…then what?
Attribute perk possibilities: 25 (5 single or 20 combinations of 2)
Slot 1 possibilities: 1 (we force luck)
Slot 2 possibilities: about 90 possibilities left
Slot 3 possibilities: about 89 possibilities left
So that means possible outcomes for this chest piece are:
25x1x90x89 which is 200,250 possible outcomes. So for your perfect gear based on your attributes, your weapons and your skill trees, you have a 1/200,250 chance of getting the perfect perks. That’s a 0.0005% chance. In money terms, on my server, I would be spending $1.6 BILLION to get the perfect roll, in theory.
If you were collecting mats, with cool downs, you could craft 8 pieces every 5 days. That’s 1.6 pieces per day. At 200,250 pieces that’s 125,156 days, that’s 351 YEARS!!!
AND, this is just for ONE piece, you still got 4 others to go. Not to mention using legendary mats for weapons or other things.
WOW. I think I will abandon crafting now!!
P.S.
- i really hope my math is wrong
- Easy fix…let level 200 crafters lock in 3/4 of the perks.
