Crafting is broken...easy fix

Crafting and collecting legendary mats is one of my favourite parts of the game. My least favourite part is committing said legendary mats into a crafting table where I have very little control over the outcome besides what it looks like.

I get it, its a MMO, its luck based, you need to roll, thats how it works. True. But its a problem.

Lets take as an example an armor chest piece and trying to craft legendary. You invested all the time and money into gathering required legendary resources, you spent money on a house, taxes, trophies. You got the armorer gear, ear piece and the food. You are ready for 600…lets roll.

An orichalcum breast plate requires 16 asmodeum ingots, 12 runic leather and 7 phoenixweave. Ok. lets get to work. On my server, thats about $8k of materials for ONE. Ok, time to gather, collecting enough materials is going to take some time. OK, got the materials, now what.

Head to the locker, put on the gear, eat the food, triple check i have azoth and put it in the table. Then, I get to pick one (1) perk, and this is where the trouble lies.

On armor there are 4 perks that can change: 1 attribute perk and 3 other perks. You get to hand select one. So lets say we hand select luck…then what?

Attribute perk possibilities: 25 (5 single or 20 combinations of 2)
Slot 1 possibilities: 1 (we force luck)
Slot 2 possibilities: about 90 possibilities left
Slot 3 possibilities: about 89 possibilities left

So that means possible outcomes for this chest piece are:
25x1x90x89 which is 200,250 possible outcomes. So for your perfect gear based on your attributes, your weapons and your skill trees, you have a 1/200,250 chance of getting the perfect perks. That’s a 0.0005% chance. In money terms, on my server, I would be spending $1.6 BILLION to get the perfect roll, in theory.

If you were collecting mats, with cool downs, you could craft 8 pieces every 5 days. That’s 1.6 pieces per day. At 200,250 pieces that’s 125,156 days, that’s 351 YEARS!!!

AND, this is just for ONE piece, you still got 4 others to go. Not to mention using legendary mats for weapons or other things.

WOW. I think I will abandon crafting now!!

P.S.

  1. i really hope my math is wrong
  2. Easy fix…let level 200 crafters lock in 3/4 of the perks.

Or save all that money and just buy the perfect rolls off the TP.

Look at that, I just saved you 351 years worth of time. Can I have your coin?

Lul, I know. Thats what I mean. No point in crafting under the current system, which for some who enjoy it, thats unfortunate.

Yeah, totally.

So, about your coin…

I dont have any…spent it all on crafting

Ah. Well. I’ll be off, then.

How about something like this:

One can put maximum of 4 items to choose the perks he wants but adding more than one will decrease the chance to get what you picked for that slot.

1st slot picked: 100% chance to roll the one locked
2nd slot picked: 50% chance to roll the one picked
3rd slot picked: 25% chance to roll the one picked
4th slot picked: 10% chance to roll the one picked

So for instance if you input two items you can select which priority they have so you are guaranteed to get the priority one perk but 50% to get the secondary priority perk and the rest of the two perks would be with the normal random roll.

This would be good too. That’s a 1.25% chance of the perfect roll. Better than before.

Except that if everyone takes that approach because of the absurd risk : reward ratio that exists in crafting currently there won’t be any perfect rolls on the TP, because nobody will be making them.

Well, good news! Not everyone will take that approach, so you don’t have to worry that the sky is falling. No doomsday today! Try to get “everyone” to do anything. I bet you can’t even get 50% to do one thing.

They definitely need to change this. Spending 8k should at least give you a good chance for a usable item and not one you can trash.

crafting in this game is a nightmare, but to be honest at least you can craft something with 600GS
i pushed arcane craft to 200, have it since 2 weeks and can do nothing with it…
i mean i could craft 3 items with it ice gauntlet fire staff and life staff, now also the void gauntlet.

BUT where in hell do i find this stupid crystal cores? I mean in which game you farm something where you dont even know where it drops, i have no problem to slay a boss 100 times to get it, but no one even knows where, and to be honest after slaying 2 bosses 50 each yesturday and we dont get a Core i doubt that they are in game anyways…

So after all be happy that you can at least craft something with your mats, i spent so much Coins on arcane and so much time to get it to 200 and also invest a lot to prepair to craft one of the 600GS weapons which i still not can, so in this like 100 hours of play and around i dont know 20k i could do something else probably better in real life, because this game will be dead soon anyways, its annoying because it has potential, but seriously the devs dont have interest or potential…

so i dont think that game will live long, or at the end with 1 server with a few people playing around, after 400 hours its more or less worthless to invest anymore time into the game

I think crafting weapons is more palatable. At least if you are crafting a weapon you get perks for that weapon…may not fit your skill tree, but at least they are for the weapon.

Armour is different because I can get weapon perks for a weapon I don’t use. I.e. hatchet user getting lifestaff perks.

Another solution to armour crafting would be to allow us to select the weapon it’s being used with so at least we get something usable.

Devs please make this change happen :+1:
