Crafting Mods Change Idea

TL;DR
Issue
-More weapons and perks translates to a higher difficulty of crafting intended gear under the current system.

Solution:
-Allow as many crafting mods as possible to be applied
-Require azoth to use a crafting mod or add a random perk (UI would be the same except you select a mod or choose to just add azoth to the item where the current add azoth for perks window is and remove the current crafting mod box option)

Possible Concerns:
If people can easily craft the gear they need, the economy for high quality gear can collapse.

  • This concern can be avoided with the time it takes to be able to craft the gear, adjusting the azoth amount needed to craft the high quality gear, adjusting drop rates of crafting mods, increasing the amount of materials needed to craft the gear.

Priority - Low/Mid
-This is not a huge issue at the moment, but it might become more of an issue when the blunderbuss and new perks are released. I would suggest making these changes before any perks or weapons get added after the March update.

=================================================

If we want to craft a piece of armor with a weapon perk, resilient, a cooldown reduction ability, and have specific attributes on it, we have to roll a 600 from 595-600, use a crafting mod to guarantee one of the perks, roll the max value for that perk, roll another perk that we want, roll the max value for that perk, roll a third perk that we want, roll the max value for the third perk, roll the right attributes for the weapon, and we will have to roll all of those on the same piece of gear at the same time.

In other words, you have to win 7 rolls in a row (6 rolls if you use gypsum to raise GS of the item) to craft the exact item that you’d want. Everytime a new weapon or a new perk gets added to the game, the chance of you rolling the piece of gear you’d like to roll decreases.

Could the system be changed to allow players to add as many mods as perk and attribute slots are available? This would decrease the rolls needed from 7 to 4 to roll a perfect item, and you would have 1 roll you need to win to craft a piece with the max gear score.

In addition to this new crafting mod system, azoth will be required for each perk the piece of gear will have regardless of if a mod was used or not. The purpose of the azoth would be to create scarcity where crafters will either need vials of azoth or to find a method of gathering azoth to craft multiple pieces of gear with the same perks.

Wonder if AGS even knows crafting is dead and next patch will jusy be a rotting corpse. Mutations is where you get gear, crafting is for tools,bags and voidbent to sell to new 60s.

I agree. You don’t even need great tools to get you the ingredients for your pots, food buffs, coatings, trophies, etc., and those are the only reasons I can think to life skill atm.
