Crafting RNG is going to make me quit this game

Title sums it up. You’re telling me I have to get:

-All the crafting gear.
-3 major trophies
-Food buff.
-Fort buff
-make sure the town you have a house in has the crafting buff.

Then, all the time to gather resources for a CHANCE to get a legendary? Using up easily 10’s of thousands in coin per craft?

What’s the point? I have never even crafted a legendary with around 15+ crafts. And I know people have had even worse luck than that here.

Might be time to quit the game until things change.

Bye, see you later.

Not sure why but I think it would feel better if certain materials were really hard to get, maybe rare random spawns in the open world (no static spawns), instead of them being more predictable and requiring all trophies and clothing. Not totally against trophies and clothing but it is a bit of a frustrating barrier (alongside all the other requirements) just to be able to craft decent gear. The RNG component I don’t think can change, they can’t simply give it the best gear so either it’s RNG or making the materials required to be gathered take longer to gather.

Feel like the gathering and crafting system in this game has so much potential yet crafting does feel pretty bad. What if they went the route of making it more difficult to gather the materials, but making a craft less RNG and less feel bad?

Who knows what they will do with it though. Hoping to see more in these PTR notes, but assuming it’s mostly focused on PVP right now (which desperately needs it)

I never understood the cheeky responses. Does it make you feel better about yourself?

leaving nw will make u feel better. trust me. this is for your own good.

You dont need fort buff

I stopped crafting about in march last year.

Then got baited by the forum in about july I think when they said its gotten way better. Was still a pile of poop.

And after that I quit crafting simply

Its just timegating mechanic. What you do if you crafted everything you ever yearned for within a week or 2? Will you stay or quit?

They can, think about voidbent. It has materials once u got them u can craft it.
Then apply it to bis gears, make the materials rare and worth to farm. Once u got those materials u can be able to craft it,it works pretty well and I had that system in my previous mmorpg.
it makes farming more meaningful, there is a reason to kill bosses as well or farm certain areas.

You had to gather a lot of stuff and clear hard dungeons to get ur stuff,it would take time to get ur bis but at least u would know that u are progressing.

If I would have all the gear I desire, then I will play expeditions and wars all the time

Why you dont play Expeditions without Bis Gear (just need Ward 2-Perker for m10)? I can understand why its a problem in Wars though.

Ya this game has the worst crafting in any MMORPG ever created.

A lot of people have quit due to crafting.

The thing I always come back to when I think about this problem is that it’s a PVP problem. With golden scarabs, you can now craft an entire set of gear that’s as good as you’ll ever need for any PVE encounter (up to and including M10), with the odd chance that you’ll get something really nice as a legendary.

If this was only a PVE game, I’d say the level of effort to get to that point (you actually wouldn’t even need all the min-max stuff, just enough to get 590+) is about right now. Even buying items off the market is viable for PVE but scarab crafting now gives us the opportunity to build an entire ward set with an additional perk that suits us perfectly. It’s costly but that’s ok because the end result is 100% deterministic.

The problem comes with the fact that PVP uses the same gear system. In PVP, if you only use epic gear then you’re competetive but that obviously isn’t enough for the vast majority of those who are serious about it. And then you get the further imbalance whereby anyone who is already in a successful company can likely afford the craft splurge but the rest of us cannot.

The concept of BIS is toxic to game play in my opinion. But, if the gear we use for all forms of instanced PVP was standardised and obtainable via PVP (i.e. a PVP track that wasn’t 100% random and guaranteed us the ability to obtain PVP only gear that everyone else can also get if they like) then that toxicity is dissolved because then it only exists in PVE, which I do not think matters at all (you just do not need BIS for PVE).

It’s OK that we have to “work up the ladder” for stuff in an MMORPG for its PVP. But I suggest that tying it to its PVE systems is flawed. And causes the frustration we see in this thread.

If I could just PVP in a set entirely obtained via PVP that everyone else could also get if they also PVP just as much as I have, then it just comes down to how long I’ve played and what choices I make (i.e. which standardised items of gear I choose to purchase and equip as I progress).

Now… there is a spectrum of players who hate that idea. These are players who enjoy the advantage of PVE generated strength over others in PVP. We all know who they are… it is, after all, that category of player that basically obliterated PVP scaling early on in the game’s life. And that’s OK because they still get to use their uber PVE obtained gear in open world PVP.

I just think the rest of the PVP world should be separated entirely where everything is controlled by how much PVP you do. I’d like to think that the majority of purist PVP players would be happy if everyone they faced was on equal gear footing and it just came down to the choices we make and the way we played.

I know I’m one of them.

It is called content and mmo!!!

If you don’t like go play mobas!!!

LOL

/ironic Mode off

I think devs though this will keep players busy instead to think it will cause the contrary effect by touching the moral and ethics of real human beings

Ah yes, design decisions based on the concept that if you don’t like it you can not play it

“Should we add this to our game?”

“Well, if people don’t like it they can go play another game.”

“OK, great. That’s what we want.”

The guy is literally saying he will stop playing because of something. If you think no one cares because he can… not play the game then why are any of us here? You know the devs care, they literally tell us to give our feedback. That’s what the guy is doing.

The devs even admit that it’s flawed still.

The crafting system in NW has never ever been good or even bad…it’s been one of the worst things I’ve ever seen used as a ‘crafting system’. Any real crafter in any game and has played/still playing knows this, but if crafting will make you “quit” and not just take a break and check the game out later like most do, then bye…why make this post? Do you think your post amongst literally the hundreds has not already said the exact same thing going to change what they have been doing since day 1?
These types of post/s are butthurt players because they don’t like the system, well grow up. I’m a hardcore crafter in every game with crafting in it and I HATE AGS’s crafting and I did leave in part due to the crafting bugs and system both but I never “quit” nor made a ridiculious rant on how I’m leaving.
I say just move on, it’s your game, you own it and if you’re not digging it pfffffffffff just stop playing ffs. This is another cry-baby post

The biggest issue IMO is the mix of pvp + pve perks on armor. The number of rolls that’d be “bis” either for pvp or pve being completely nullified because of ward + resil, for example, is disgusting. So instead of the legendary rolls being a reward, they might as well be purple.

Add a toggle to crafting for pvp or pve FOR ANY RANDOMLY GENERATED PERKS

You can roll resil or ward until the cows come home and those already few 600s have a much better chance of being useful.

OR

You can use a scarab for truly specialized gear like ancient ward + Resil and the last rng perk of any 600 can be biased one way or another, and have a flagged open world brimstone set.

All this to say, give us more control over the randomness of everything and then the 600s will have a much higher chance of being useful and actually feel worth the time/coin invested in becoming a 595 crafter.

Honestly though the light pants patterns from the summer event were pure profit. Made over 2 mil in sales from those pants trying to roll BiS for my build
