CTD earlier in the day, now can't log in

About two hours ago 5pm MST I had a hard crash to desktop from the application. I was in a Laz instance so I tried to log back in immediately. After about 10 min of trying to log in I decided to reboot all of my hardware (PC, Modem, Router) even though all of the rest of my internet connectivity seemed fine. Traffic to and from other websites etc. The NewWorld.exe launches fine and runs but there is no content on the first continue screen and the character select screen shows a connection error. (Login service isn’t available at this moment. This may indicate trouble connecting to the internet. Reconnecting, please wait …

It has been this way for more than 2 hours now. I have no internet connectivity issues on this machine or others on the network.

Any ideas?

Problem resolved.

Steam Repair didn’t do anything useful. But nuking the directory and reinstalling solved the problem.

Hello Krowyn,

Thank you so much for sharing you were able to fix the launching error you were having.

If this situation happens in the future again, you can also try this troubleshooting related with with the AGS Files that are linked within New World:

  1. Windows + R type in %APPDATA%
  2. Go to Local and Roaming (Both files will include an AGS file) and open them.
  3. Rename the AGS sub-folder ‘‘New World’’ to something different like ‘’_New World"
  4. This will refresh the cache files within New World and remove the error launching the game.

Thanks for all your feedback and specially your patience. :man_mage: :small_blue_diamond:

Just ran into this again today. Renaming cached data directories both local and roaming made me answer prompts for voice assist and required me to agree to the code of conduct but did not affect the ability to log in at all.

Trying some things that don’t involve the complete reinstallation of the application.

Update, reinstalling the video card driver (with the same version) allows me to login. I can play one session, then when I log out I have the same problem again. Every other game and application works fine. But if I want to log back into new world I have to reinstall the video driver. Every time I want to log in.

Any Thoughts?

Im so sorry the problem still persists Krowyn,

Since this keeps happening, I’d suggest you to please contact Amazon Games Support to escalate your case via ticket:

You can contact them through chat using the previous link and give a summary about what issue are you experiencing (You can also share the link to this forum thread so they can read the previous conversation).
If is necessary, the team will escalate the case to the developers team for further investigation.

Here you are the steps to get this information just in case you need it:

  • To find the DxDiag:

Press Windows + R, type “dxdiag” into the Run window, and then press Enter.
Click the Display tab and you can see information about your video card under the Device section. Please write down that information.

  • To find the logs:
  • Go to Windows Start search bar and type dxdiag.
  • Click on dxdiag.exe.
  • When green progress bar goes away, select Save All Information and save the file to their desktop.

Hope this information helps and once more I’m sorry for the inconveniences this may cause. :small_blue_diamond: : :mage:t2:

Just so anyone who wants to know can laugh at me. There is something funny about the way the game uses dns querys at the login screen. I had a power supply failure on my private recursive name server. The browsers and other applications had no problem switching to secondary dns so I had no issues. New World would not use the secondary dns properly. So, if you have problems check your primary dns responder.
