Would be super helpful if we could put our own notes / markers on the map to pin important places or things. Would have it optionally sharable with group and company.

Most important places and things already have location names and/or a quest marker on them. What else do you need notes for? Just curious, since I haven’t found a need for this, even during preview and beta.
I understand what are you trying to say but if you look on the internet there are at least 1-2 big websites where you can see the map with the resources on it and click show/hide resources.
Regard to this problem i just think that maybe they should create an explorable map. Once you find an iron vain you will have automatically have on the map for ever a marker, so this is to make the map explorable.
I don’t know if i am allowed to post here external websites/tools, but just google it, there is one done very very good for free, but if you want also add your own notes/markers on your map in the website it migth be that this is premium so it’s something you can buy, however you can look for free without custom notes/markers.

I agree, notes could be super usefull. expecially in a pseudo survaval game like new world
For RP oriented players or simply immersion lovers (like me), consulting external tool to gain in-game info is just unexpectable. In that sense, having an ability to enhance in-game map with own info is a valuable idea!
