Dear Amazon Game Studios, I have an idea for an absolutely AMAZING quality of life improvement to your wonderful game: make the DAILY (emphasis intentional) cooldowns refresh at midnight (server time). I can’t tell you how many days of chest runs/max-tier crafting items, gypsum, etc. that I’ve missed out on due to the fact that it’s on a literal 24-hour-from-“action” cooldown. The game is incredibly grindy as is. Not everybody has the PHYSICAL capability to log into the game at the same time every single day to do the daily activities. If you could make the things that have a 24-hour timer refresh on the next day server time, I wouldn’t feel like have to ditch my wife and kids for dinner every 3rd day just so I can spend 3 hours grinding that one cooldown I missed because my son choked on his Lego that one time. Or because my job had an after hours call that required HOURS/DAYS of my immediate attention. I’ve been trying to get to gs600 for 2 months and I’m at 560 avg. This one quality of life improvement would at least feel like I’m not a slave to this great game’s design that has been thrust upon us. Again, I’m addressing the DAILY cooldowns, I don’t care if I have to wait 7x24 hours for an orb purchase or craft, I can live with that small percentage, but the daily cooldowns seriously stack up when you can’t commit a consistent time every single day. (On a side note, I’m impressed that you’ve coded everything to be bound to the player rather than the server, seems like a bit more code, but then, I’m a firefighter, not a programmer). -love Gamer
i love love this idea. it should be 24 cd but at midnight server time is reset. pain in the butt to have to wait an hour to craft your cd’s everyday and have to have a reset day cause you overslept one day. one day messes up a whole week
The cooldowns are designed by people that can do their “runs” within a 2 hr window at the same time every day. Who are these people? If you have a job and work hard during the week then gaming on the weekend is a thing. You might do something at 10pm Friday night then have some time Saturday at noon. You might catch-up on the weeks gaming in one day.
You need to keep a spreadsheet to keep track of all the cool downs every day as you cannot see what many of them are in game? Weekly cool downs that reset on the maintenance window work much better.
I am shocked that this game is not leveraging knowledge from the last decade. Talk to the WOW development team they have been through all of this.
There are many unanswered posts, this post is pretty good and ignored:
Genuine question for developers!
There is lots of feedback quickly locked for comment. Forum locks should wait 2 or 3 months.
if it has to be daily 2am server time is better
This should be implemented. It would also save a lot of memory on their end. Since all CDs are reset on a Daily timer instead of each individual Item on its own timer.
Or 8/10 o clock. Peak Is usually 6 - 2, or 8-12.
Most people could log in at 7, craft, run an OPR, craft, then play to their hearts content and not have to worry about,
“tomorrow I have to make them too at 8pm, otherwise I have to stay up later when I work at 6am. If I miss it at 8 and craft at 9pm then I gotta progressively stay up every day I’m not on time this week or miss my daily.”
Sadly I had to stop playing new world because of the 24 hr time gates. It was to frustrating to keep track of what time i did my crafting cd’s and what time i did my elite runs, what time i did my gypsums ect. It got to be to rediculous. I do hope they change this to be more player friendly in the future so I can return to the game. That would be awesome! I am still cheering them on and hoping they make some changes so players can return someday.
Do you have a link to that post?
That’s from the PTR patchnotes.
But I’m waiting to see if it really includes drops, faction shop and chests all together. They should have clarified that more.
They’re changing all the daily cooldowns as per PTR patch notes.
