Damage Meter & Threat Meter

You are weird. Such a meter is not onscreen all the time. It can be visible when clicked in the area or hidden at any time!
You certainly played only one game in your life?

Silkroad, Revelation Online, BDO they all have such a stuff included and it’s not destroying UI/UX cause it’s configurable.

You don’t need a DPS/threat meter to know how you are performing in the game.

  • If the mob died you did well.
  • If you die, you did something wrong.
  • If something is chasing you instead of your tank you are wacking the wrong mob.

I’ve seen to many persons watching those things better then the game they were supposed to be playing, ignore game mechanics etc just to pad their e-peen on the meter.

Those meters have never shown to be an asset in any game to improve any player. The basis combat log in WoW even gave you more than enough information about what happened to you in any fight. And most of the time, knowing your DPS vs other players is not how you improve in the game. It’s avoiding potential deaths that are thrown at you via all kinds of game mechanics.

TL/DR: Don’t die in fights is how you improve. You master that, you mastered the game. On to the next difficulty level.

Damage meter? Thread meter? How about the really important stuff? Where is my BÄM addon? ^^

would love one but all these casuals crying wouldnt allow it

This would be great. More information is always a plus.

Not wanting information or not wanting to know how you’re doing seems to me like willful ignorance.

Go play WoW

I would love a dps meter because it helps me to improve myself as a player to see what I am lacking at; coming from a competitive side. But this would hurt the community because casuals would get flamed for not doing enough.

absolutely not. The amount of toxicity and drama these things cause is insane.

You can get better at the game by learning more about your weapons, builds, gear, etc. and fine tuning what you wear and use, as well as just getting better at your rotation. The game already has a bunch of stats you can use to calculate what your potential numbers can be. If you feel you are lacking you are probably lacking and if you want to improve there are ways to go about it. You don’t NEED some weird number bar telling you these things.

No, no need why make it more toxic…

Man you contradict yourself in your own answer xD

DPS meter is the only reasonable method of DPS output. By not having it you are limiting your option in veryfing almost every DPS wise stats.
Yes I see you veryfing whether fire bow deals more on genesis than normal bow with opal stone and dodges. Good luck.
And there are hundreds combinations to check and with new expeditions there will be even more.

Also not everyone plays every weapon so how can I know whether hammer deals a lot DMG or not?
You are forcing me to lvl weapon to 20 just to say, hey it’s not really that high for lazarus? When I check what others are doing.

By the way not including meter is causing toxicity as currently many randoms have problems with finding a party as people are scared of going with randoms and have no method to test them. So a lot of randoms must pay a lot for tutorial runs, as no one is willing to take them.

I’ve done lazarus and genesis more than 100 times, even today I did genesis 10 times and I was picking teammates simply by reputation - I only pick people I know since I cannot test them anyway.
Many other games include DPS meter in towns (puppet) and that DPS can be easly checked and no problems occur.

As I said before goodluck finding a party for mutated lazarus or genesis . Oh nvm, you’ll find it as a cow to be milked (if you have key).
I always take people with key for free, because you know if someone pay and he is DPS he can even be 400 GS, we’ll force through somehow.

My last MMORPG Revelation Online had DMG meter that was visible on button, and normally hidden. This was not causing any toxicity. Was just a normal method on veryfying whether someone can make DPS or don’t.

Raw data is everything.

i also would like to have a damage meter. you also could make it so that the player can decide if he shows the damage he has done to the group or keep it for himself.

We are a group of 5 who are grinding the mutations verry hard. we would love to improve more and a damage meter would help our group to do so. an each player would have a feedback if the skills he is playing are working like intended or not

I’d like to see Damage Meters. Those of us who do lots of damage might start getting invited into wars/invasions even though we’re members of a small guild instead of instantly kicked.

With the people being split up already because everyone wants to get the most out of their mutation orbs ignoring people with lower GS.

Please do NOT split the people up even more with unneeded min/maxing the DPS/Healing.

They already started with the mutators scaling off of gear score.

Uhm… NO!
Not only because it promotes toxicity, it just doesn’t fit into new world at all because it’s a totally different combat style with blocking, dodging, heavy/light attacks for different purposes, etc and not about running the rotation with maximum dps… In new world it’s even survivability>dps!

That’s literally every game, especially at the higher levels of content. It also doens’t promote toxicity, it helps you understand more about the class/gear/moves and shows you were can improve… I don’t know if it’s a generation thing, but you don’t need to take things so personally… if your DPS is not good and someone calls you out over it then use that as a learning experience and get better, don’t cry OH THE TOXICITY… you aren’t System of the Down.

The toxicity only really happens if you are doing it with randoms. It is only 5 people not 20 person rade so Joining a company and chilling somewhat negates the toxicity of adding this.

Love that this thread got necro’d. When this game first came out, I was very against meters. Mutations shifted my position a little. When running with my premade groups, I think it would be helpful to be able to identify and fine tune the DPS/heals/tanking. Though I do believe meters can be really toxic for PUGs but being able to accurately identify DPS problems in premade groups is a must. There’s always going to be the DPS bro in PUGs that posts their damage after every fight and types in all caps because their numbers make them feel like the specialest little boy there ever was.

I think it would be cool to even see total damage at the end of the run. That might be a worthy compromise.

I agree, but I think they would also need to (greatly) increase the number of orbs you can get in a week.

It would relieve some of the pressure of doing everything perfect, while also giving newer players more opportunities to learn & improve

I would say no man. The game is already forcing meta builds this would cement the exclusion of experimental builds. So it’s a no for me.
