Damage meter - Yes one more but different perspective

Yes. Please give some kind of DpsMeter/Parser. I want to see if Im right about my own skilllevel.

How we can expect a dps meter if we don’t have yet a basic combat log in chat?

Still amazes me, every mmo I have played since 1997 has a combat log.

DD = Damage Dealer.

DPS = Damage Per Second.

LMAO wow…and this is why i lsot hope in humanity…people get triggered by OPINIONS and find that toxic.

Oh okay, seems a bit redundant.

Damage Meter would suffice.

They could make the dummies have a parse mode. I don’t think anyone would take much issue with that if it was just a personal snapshot.

I take extreme issue with live dps or group wide live viewable dps

Will people ask for dummy screenshots? probably, but that’s probably better than requiring extreme GS numbers just to get in a lower mutation in my opinion.

Have to disagree, Imagine having to join a discord and send a dummy screen shot - the same end result would be everyone has meters for (Damage, Healing, first attack on boss, threat, interupts/staggers) and if you suck? well guess what… figure out the issue, fix it, try again.

This is still real life and in MMOs are you playing with other peoples time, just like your own. Be considerate and that starts with having a clue.

Not trying to be aggro but I cant help but feel like anyone avoiding meters is afraid of their own ineptitude.

Bro, this is an amazing idea for those who don’t want to be part of the race!

We could see if we improve (I really miss that in that game) and the other can keep doing what they want.

I’m confuse sometime, in French we never use DD but in chat in English we barely use dps. So I never know which one is the right one.

Think of a mmorpg that already have both damage meter, accomplishments, GS.

Like I don’t know… Wow? Then you have to send your GS, send your achievements and then the game become so toxic we can’t go in mythic anymore without a whole curriculum, blood analysis…

Damage meter is not guilty.

I dunno,

In all my years, meters tended to cause trouble in groups and raids with people trying to pad numbers the whole time instead of paying attention. That’s not everyone obviously, but it happened enough to cause raid leaders to demand groups ran specific mod monitors so they could disable readouts during the raid. Because people can be very peopley.

I ran dps meters in various games, i like having a readout personally. I just didn’t like the level of elitism that spawned from them. Not that we don’t have that already, it’s a little harder to tell if someone is lagging behind currently aside from the ttk in packs and on bosses. And usually the group knows who it is.

It’s a complicated issue, i just don’t like some of the attitudes they provoke.

Why do you take an issue with damage meters?

Srsly, enlighten me on how it is wrong for a group of people that RELY on your performance to judge it based on metrics displayed? why do you feel entittled to ruin other peoples experience by underperforming?

Yeah, I mean the thing about SERIOUS end game progression in PvE ( and sometimes PvP) is you need to join a company/guild and prove yourself. You need to meet the minimum requirements and you have to perform.

The upper echelon of hardcore PvE and PvP content is NOT for everyone - but thats fine, its not supposed to be.

Damager meters just provide you with a smart and effective way of improving your characters output. Nothing more or less.

I don’t feel entitled to ruin anyone’s experience. That’s a hot take.

In years of Heroic and Mythic raiding content in WoW Damage meters are an absolute necessity and no serious raiding guilds who ever had 10-25 people log on 2-3 times a week to wipe and wipe and wipe over again would have gotten where they are without a damage meter.

This is just a hard reality of MMOS.

Well it is an MMO… but then you find a cool group of people to play with and get better within that group.

I think its far less complicated than a lot of people on here make it out to be.

Its a tool… I dont really love the MPG my car gets but I still can see how much gas I have left on my dash… Maybe I will drive differently with it staring me in the face.

EDIT: I think AGS might even be worried about adding them because then we will really see how balanced ( or not) each weapon is.

Im dying to know.

I never tried m+ because I don’t know about my dps. But I’m pretty sure that you have to have bow/spear as a DD to get on a group? And we don’t even know if it’s really a good dps.

I’d rather prefer a good Combat Log with an external Parser like ACT and its forks.

Because there is just more to a Fight/Encounter than dealing damage, a dps should also peel the Healer, do some mechanics and other stuff.

Also i want to understand and optimize my defenses as a Tank or take a dive into my heals

If you have any struggle with a dungeon or mutation under m8.
You’re the type of player who’ll get punished the hardest by having a dps meter

And funfact. DPS meter will make mutations WAYWAY harder than they’re now xD

Edit: also you haven’t EVEN TRIED THE ENDGAME, but ask for sth like this
Oh boy. I repeat. You would be the prime example of a player who would get punished the hardest by having those ingame

PPL run m10’s with 5-50con, because they know what they’re doing. All of their gear is ward + perks for dps. You stopping to hit for literally a single moment will alter your dps massively.

Something like @Albyr suggests would change dungeons forever in NW. And not for the better.
NW should keep act and dps meters out of the game for at least another 5-10years.

I’ll say it again and again. If you’re not a raider and logger in games. You really do not want a dps meter no matter how much you think you do.

People have figured that out. Without an epeen meter.

It’s funny right. The only group of people who’d benefit from a dps meter, are those who don’t need it to know what’s good and how to achieve high dps and rpds.
