Damage meters please?

Bump. We NEED more ways to monitor our DPS/HPS/TPS, to better understand what works and what doesn’t. Without it, everything is just pseudo-science and we may as well just remove the damage numbers altogether

This would just gate endgame content even further for new level 60 players.

Although it is nice and in other mmo’s worked to cut out the trash players from raids, for this particular game with a struggling player base it would still be better to not include this.

given how many players have left and the current player base

1: macro users and bots who oddly enough never get banned
2: the honest bunch
3: lastly the utter C**** who need to be banned aka toxic players

if we got rid of 1/3 36k would go down to 16k ?

100% Agree with this statement.

So we should just all play blind?

Why no transparency.

that makes sense in the sense of an actual mystery and lore.

there is no place for opacity in player performance and progression.

But thats the problem. we are already pressured to roll flavor of the month to compete with anything in this game.

it takes 2 seconds to see your position on the opr score board or war boards to see just how bad or little you did.

at least with a damage meter you can see for yourself. tweak builds and try to make your personal build work.

use that data to make actual suggestions on the forums and actually improve the weapons you use instead of just saying nerf this nerf that like some kinda GA/WH user (wink wink)

this also coincides with how bad customizing gear is. the gold investment needed is outrageous and is limited only to territory owners.

dps meters can bring out the worst in people, but with NW having a pvp aspect, we already have that.

I’ve played enough MMOs to know that this will make people attack the wrong mobs (because it’s easier), attack them too early and make it impossible for a tank to taunt it all, they will risk safety and success for some extra dps. So if you believe mutation dungeons are too easy: add dps meter to add some extra spice to it

that being said, I think it would be a good addition. But would it be possible to make it so players will be asked if they want to share their dps stats when entering a dungeon?

One of the reasons for the interest.

Kinda Contradicts itself @Willard If you focus on the statistics, then it would be using that which would give you higher/better numbers right?

For some, killing things faster and more efficient is more fun. Having a meter would allow us to further test what weapons and abilities would be more efficient for different engagements.

This statement is somewhat true. At the moment, Players are looking for the “best” Set up. Which is why the game has things like, Attributes, Perks, & Such. The Dps meter would allow them to test for themselves what works best for them.

Here is a key thing that you might over look @Willard. It is impossible to have 1 Build that is BiS. In order to clear higher content such as mutations, 1 person cannot carry the team with his/her BiS Set up. The Entire team has to work together collectively to clear said content.

Small example. As a Dex Spear User Build. ST BiS at the moment is said to be Javelin, Skewer, & Perforate. If your team is lacking Crowd Control, Then This setup would not work for your team. You would need to swap Javelin with Sweep in order to add more Crowd Control.

So the statement of

Does not exist in group content.

You are on point. I would like to share what SWTOR has done for a DPS meter.
SWTOR Devs created a Combat log and that is all.
A Player created a 3rd party application that can read the logs and by using a part of the application to join a “Group”. Only if you join said group, then and only then can any1 see your numbers. “DPS, Damage Taken, Threat Generated, Healing Done & Received”

Each player has the option to turn off their combat logs in game to eliminate the storage it would cause in your PC.
Each player has the option to join said group in the Star Parse application or just turn it on for themselves.

This allows each player to make the decision to join and see each other’s numbers or just keep their number private.

Would you say that with the lack of up front information that we have in New world that a dps meter would not help show what can be better, what works and what doesnt? I have not played the most of WoW but in WoW you have damage numbers and the ability to see exactly how much your doing and the effects of everything on them

exactly, just put a combat log for people who wish to hone their play, and keep meters away from the game please

We can’t even properly see our own perks if they work or not. Why would I farm for 3 weeks for a 150k armor piece if I can’t prove those perks work correctly? I’m less worried about the feelings of the low skilled players being displayed at the bottom, and I would rather focus on what I can do to improve my own performance instead. Like I said at the beginning I want to improve my build, and be an asset to my friends, not a carry.

That’s where some of your disconnect occurs. There’s nothing fun about using weapons and constantly losing to someone using the same weapons but using broken or overpowered perks. Game is too buggy to assume things are working correctly and I encourage you to play it yourself and see it first hand

NO… NO NONONO

NO dmg meter. the toxic is already strong in thsi game.

if you take a group to do an M10 dungeon and cant make gold after 5 tries, it might be useful to see whats going on. Also in that regard, being able to inspect players to make sure when they say they are 625 that they are not lying would be nice.

(lost a few orbs to people claiming they did M10s when they were still on M5s and didnt have the gear score)

I guess another topic. I believe add-ons would solve this request. There are a number of add-ons used in World of Warcraft, Overwolf/curse that do exactly what you seek. Add-ons are not currently allowed on NW.

instead of that, just make it so only you can see it then? if I do a war and get a report card for just me and only me that would be fair no? we already see total damage in wars/invasions… not sure why we cant see that in mutations or OPR.

nope, the moment you add it to the game people will mandate it in guild.

Failing repeatedly with no understanding of why is much worse for toxicity than a dps meter due to frustration. The only reason people make this argument is if they want to play however they choose regardless of if it works or not. You need metrics to improve, succeed more often and have more fun.

Absolutely, if we cannot measure our progress, we can never set a goal to reach.
