Damn it, ags, will you answer the question already?

What will this dumb new system do, in regards to item power, to crafted items and the weapons rewarded from the legendary weapon quests?

They made it very clear. It will be scaled down to your current “expertise” until your “expertise” is that gs or higher.

Why do you think it’ll be different?

Because the exact wording of the post really wasn’t clear. I have the same question as well. If you have or crafted a lvl 600 gear piece and then equip it. Is the gear itself downgraded?

The dev post was not clear on this. It said there would be a temporary decrease in player power, but they did not answer if the gear itself would be downgraded. That is a very severe distinction that was answered by player speculation, but not any clear statement by the developers.

From what I read on the post it looked like the devs were trying to encourage other activities to be explored by players and to make the HWM less random.

So if your expertise lowers the level of the gear to you, does the gear drop in quality later or can you grow into it? I want a clear answer on this. A clear answer would also alleviate people’s fears and make the troll’s lives a lot harder here.

No, they didn’t.

But like the “will we lose our HWM” question, the answer is pretty obviously not “the item gets irrevocably damaged because you equiped it too early”

It’ll scale. And sure, you’ll demand an official source on it and that’s fine. But I’m right.

Ydiss is right.

I spent a shitload of time doing the legendary weapon quests. I knew it wouldn’t raise my watermark but I was ok with that because I’d be getting very decent weapons to use while I did work on raising the watermark.

This moronic new change completely pisses all over the time I spent doing these quests. I want and AGS rep to tell me directly “Yes, you wasted your time doing those quests and we don’t give an F”.

So let’s hear it, AGS.

He is right that he needs clarification? Or he’s right that he’s unsure?

Not sure what you mean.

Items won’t be destroyed by equiping them early. They’ll very obviously scale based on our expertise for the slot. Nothing in this awful update suggests otherwise. Just like no one really belileved they’d reset us all to 500 expertise.

Yes, you did waste your time because those 580 weapons won’t be 580 unless you grind your expertise up. This much we already know.

If this is what the OP is asking, it’s even more obtuse a question than I thought. All items will scale based on our expertise. If just quested or chest dropped items are expempt from this ridiculous change then that would render the change largely null and void. Except for the impact to the TP and crafting.

Sorry I meant you are right.

OK thanks for clarifying

He could be right.

Still, a clear answer on something as important as gear and loot in a looter game is probably something that should be given by the developers.

People are panicking, so clarity and transparency and needed at a moment like this. The HWM system to me seemed too random and RNG based. I really got into crafting more to avoid its randomness.

I would like more clear details from the developers. I would ask this question of them directly, but sadly they don’t seem to have a direct means of inquiry that I am aware of.

Yup, all this speculation is nice but I created the thread because I want a direct answer from AGS.

It’s not speculation:

That only answers if your High Water mark is erased. It does not answer if the gear you have or equip is permanently downgraded.

It is speculation. The HWM system has nothing to do with legendary weapons and crafted gear. Everyone knew those things didn’t raise your HWM but no one expected them to be made into powerless wastes of time and gold.

Yes, yes sorry too many posts around…

WEll all the quest weapons I’ve seen have been utterly shit anyway

But it is all temporary as you understand from this picture

They don’t reduce the Gear score, just the effectiveness. Anyway you need someone orange to confirm so yeah gl with that.

Gear score and effectiveness in this conversation are the same thing. Gear score is just a number. “This one goes to 11”.

I want the damage of the weapon to be what is on the description of the weapon. You know, the one I spent days travelling all over the map to get?

I saw that they used the term Effective. That is why I am now asking this question in the first place.

If the gear is untouched and just scaled down temporarily, then I am fine with this change. I want clarification.

Again if you look at the other threads people are panicking. Requesting more information and clarity from the developers is a good thing. It lowers the temperature. Right now I think the discussion on this topic has been extremely heated.
