Day 9 Laz Mutations-Nobody has orbs

Huzaaaahhh day 9 and the mutation failed a second day to swap from lazurus on Oceana server. Nobody has orbs left so were all chilling here successfully gated from the only content in the game just like AGS wanted. If you just removed orbs or let us craft 1 free orb per day we could still run laz right now while you inevitably mess this up tomorrow. Nearly every forum page has someone posting about how bad it is that dungeons are still gated by orbs and here we are still investing into a bad system rather than replacing it. Its not gating progression. It only gates progression for poor players and players with low time commitment. All orbs do is gate access to the only real content in the game. My favorite part is that devs dont seem to recognize this as a problem. Its never mentioned in dev updates. Hell we cant even get a statement as to whats going on with the mutator rotations. But hey countdown to lost ark am i right?

Im glad all the trolls are chiming in because this is what actually happens on live servers. The rich have no gates on progression.

Everyone should be able to craft at least one mutated orb a day, so it’s plausible for everyone to get to level 10 each week. If AGS insists on time gating, they should set a limit on the number of umbral shards you can earn in a week. They should not time gate dungeons because they are blocking content and the game has become mostly people standing around looking to buy orbs. People aren’t playing the game. It’s not fun.

This is one of the many simple solutions to the problem but for some reason AGS is very proud of their orb idea as it stands. I would mark your post as solution except there is still the fact that the mutator is not properly swapping and as far as I have seen the devs have not commented nor has there been a single acknowledgement by a forum manager on any of these posts about it

yeah idk why we just cant play the game like we want and instead get locked behind this one week cd like playing a mobile game, where you only can play for one hour then you have cd of 24 hour or you pay money… if people wanna rush to their 625 gear just let them do, its their fault if they complain, there is no content. Casuals cant do as much dungeons anyway cause they dont have money for it. I mean who can pay 100k+ for one key? Only townowners and goldbuyer. This system is super beginner unfriendly too, no low lvl content, stupid grind on townboard and after lvl 60 you have a hard time find people for normal instance to get your expertise up. Elite chest runs are going back also

You should either be rich or have a very good productive week of expertise grinding and BiS gear farming.

Previously, orbs were expensive to make and expensive to run, nobody said, “there’s no orbs in my server.” They gave more orbs, two mutations and made it significantly cheaper. Now people complain about no orbs… It’s their fault you aren’t satisfied with 7 orbs a week and don’t know how to buy/sell slots?

And people say this community isn’t entitled…

I’ve said it to myself. This forum is full of people who only play GTA and StarCraft with cheats. I’m probably going to stay off these forums before too long. Everyone just cries.

If I was 15 years old and had an average of 10 hours a day I could still fill my time with progression.

Sell slots on a gen orb, buy 1 or 2, run 2/3 expeditions. Depending on party, that’s around 2 hours.

RW chest run gathering notes reagents and consuming topaz potion, scour market for profits and craft dailies, one hour.

Run 3 OPR when chat is spamming OPR, 2 and a half hours.

Portals for 30 minutes, crafted corrupted lodestone.

Check out what skill I want to level, buy or gather mats, 1-2 hours.

Run portals again for 30 minutes SM or try to roll BiS gear.

Run 10k worth of faction missions for tokens to buy next week’s orbs. One hour, possibly push a territory and get war waged.

All these times are very generous, this is more like a 12 hour session.

Craft gypsum orbs at the end of the day and make 7 casts for 14 - 28 overall expertise bumps.

Your statement that any player has access to 14 orbs is assuming they have a dedicated party of 5 to run through with. I am specifically talking mutator orbs. The only mutator orbs a single player is guaranteed is a 1 time claim for your codex, 1 per week from the faction shop, and 1 per week through stonecutting. This means that a single person gets 3 mutated orbs for the week not 14. And thats only until the mutators are rotated through the first time. When mutators come back around to lazarus you will not receive a codex orb, which means each player is only guaranteed 2 mutated orbs per week. Not 14. Anything beyond those 2-3 orbs is assuming the player has other people willing to share orbs, or that they have gold to spend on other player’s orbs. This isn’t even considering that not all players have that type of gold, or the fact that a lot of mutator groups are exclusive, or that players don’t have proper gearscore to run mutators that are even worth their time in terms of umbral shard reward amounts. And finally yes. The orbs are out. Because everyone on the server individually gets 2-3 orbs and its over the 7 day rotation period by 2 days. Your math is just wrong and your not considering other factors/playstyles that do not match your own. Furthermore, if we are meant to sell and trade orbs then what is the point of the time gate in the first place? It does nothing to gate progression. It gates content. Rich players can still buy all the excess orbs, creating a power gap for those who cannot. The ultimate point here is that as it stands, orbs only gate the content people are trying to enjoy/practice and do very little to actually gate progression. Thats a problem whether you think so or not.

Don’t worry. AGS are adding umbral shards to OPR. So we can all spam it, then go afk, for free 50 shards. :joy:

Out of the 8 solutions you gave to progression only one of them provides any significant amount of umbral shards for GS prorgression. Nobody is crying. We are asking for a better system. If you are content with it then great. No need to flame people or tell us how running your 12 hour grind session nets us very few umbral shards.

Maybe you have said “I dont have orbs left” I personally have 4 and cant get anyone else with orbs to do level 1 or 2 because they all want 7+ and yes they ran out of orbs so will pay fee.

Thats the problem people who used their orbs want to use everyone’s orbs to do them and that is not the idea you should do your orb runs then thats it till the next reset. Now people like me are sitting on orbs and cant get others to join.

Ok your right. I have no orbs left and the server has significantly less orbs to a point of scarcity right now. Better? The point still stands. Your struggling with your own individual problem. Im struggling with mine. They can both be solved by removing orbs and gating progression with weekly umbral shard limits, or diminished returns. Then not everyone will feel like they HAVE to run 7+. I would be much more willing to help you with m1-m2 if it meant its not coming at the opportunity cost of a higher mutator.

CDs are up from initial patch. Two rounds of CDs is 18. Mb, I said 14.

You ran through 18 orbs?!?

Previously it was better to not do the dungeon until you raised WM. Most people raised WM before doing dungeons which is why orbs weren’t being run non stop. Now its the other way around so orbs are being run non stop.
