Honestly Luck as a whole needs to be properly re-explained with better examples such as
How does luck effect looting storage chests for trophy materials, is there a sweet spot, does Min Luck vs Max luck make much difference?
How does Luck work in expeditions? Does it matter on boss kills, on chests?
Can having to much luck be a bad thing?
When you loot chests, does it put your weapons away and thus you don’t get the luck from your weapons?
Are there any known issues with how luck from Pearls, Gear, PVP Flagging, weapons and faction all stack together? (Such as does one overwrite the other, or multiply in a way that they conflict)
Does having large numbers of players around you reduce your luck as a whole (such as looting chests while in a zerg) since other related zerg activities have been reduced.
Are there any loot tables that having 0 luck would bar you from entry completely?

Luck, as a stat, needs to be better explained beyond what the original development blog went over.
Seems the luck from shield doesn’t apply when looting containers. But main hand should.
Luck is messy but it does seem to work. However, I and many others have experienced bugs with Luck, so beware! Sometimes it literally doesn’t work! We recommend removing all gear and re-equip it. Unflag then flag. Leave/re-enter Landmark if Obsidian don’t drop for 3 hours like me. And relog if you notice bad luck for a while.
Yo, you can search every thread about luck and none of them will be answered. This is something AGS will not state and for that fact no company will its how it has always been.
So the best answer you will get on luck is what the community has managed to test and pull together which unfortunately is not definitive as there are a lot of mixed messages but we are testing luck which is difficult enough.
I have done that here, on Reddit and also on YouTube and yes, the only reply that AGS has given regarding luck is that dev post about how it works in general which just made us have more questions and that is sad. If that’s all we get then I will keep bumping my thread daily until someone at AGS answers.
If you read the first post I made you’ll see that I don’t want to know how overall luck works and what people have tested. I’m asking AGS to just tell us how weapon luck works. People have done testing with perks when the weapon was equipped, not equipped, etc. but none of them definitively answers that question. It’s only speculation but I don’t think it’s too much to ask that they explain how weapon luck works.
Here’s the issue we can answer your original question because the perk works like all other perks in the game. But you then go on to ask how luck works and you want an explanation on different scenarios.
A weapon is the same as any piece of gear, if it is equipped then stats and perks on that weapon are applied. Whether it be sheathed or unsheathed.
Example - when my musket with 25 dex is on my back and I have a rapier with 25 int in my hands both of those stats still contribute to my attributes they don’t swap when I swap weapons. The same applies for perks.
Also another point, why on earth would amazon put time into adding luck to weapons if they don’t count when looting containers.
The luck perk works like every other perk in the game on every piece of gear.
There are obviously a number of different scenarios the community have found such as dungeons, flagged vs unflagged etc. but nothing can be definitively explained because it works on chance.
Everyone… including the dozens of people that made YouTube videos & countless forum threads as to whether or not your weapon luck works when searching containers while the weapon is sheathed… @Tubstep has solved it and answered the question! Apparently he knows the truth that you all were trying to figure out.
