Dear Developer Team - Please Do Something Regarding Large-scale War Performance/Lag

We lost a winnable war against defenders just because of the unbearable amount of lag presented when multiple players came in close contact with one another - By far one of the worst wars I’ve ever experienced.

It is unclear whether or not the enemy team intentionally made the decision to full stack all players on a point to “create” lag and defend their territory by exploiting it, but this has been an ongoing issue with the game for months now and no noticeable improvements have been made it seems like.

When your character is standing in this lag zone you can’t do anything but wait 10+ seconds for your abilities to take effect hoping you don’t die before that even happens. With all the lag and player characters randomly teleporting around the map it certainly is impossible to cap any point when you can’t have a fair fighting chance against your enemies.

The only way we could’ve captured points was by split pushing at the same time since that solved the lag issues by a fair amount.
With that strategy in mind we had no problems capturing 2 points when everyone had a fair fighting chance.

Once we had players on the last point the same lag issues occurred again after the enemy team respawned and decided to jump the point once again. Unable to dodge, move, attack, deal damage, use abilities etc… This was utterly annoying - costing us precious time and giving a advantage for defenders, ultimately leading to us losing the war.

I’m Including footage of the above mentioned war hoping developers see it from our viewpoint how wars actually are in reality on a larger scale than their testing grounds.

Bruh, we have been complaining about this since February 2021 (Alpha), it’s not getting fixed.

We hear you on the war performance concerns and are working on this; we have made some adjustments to war performance - it would be great to get everyone’s help testing them in the PTR if you have time today.

I love that you are making adjustments but you will never be able to test if there is war lag on the PTR. On low pop servers, there isnt much lag in wars, and on PTR there isnt even 100 players.

The lag is very noticable on higher pop servers, and even on medium/low pop you experience lag if there is 2 wars going on at once.

2k pop servers have completely unplayable wars at the moment. As soon as it’s 20v20 ping goes to 1k.

instanced wars on dedicated servers…
same for OPR, and arenas if they ever release before game dies.

On low pop servers there is no lag? w000t?
Well … on ours there is. It was laggy as hell with 1500ppl, it was very laggy with 900ppl and it still sucked at 300ppl.

Yes, lags getting worse if server is high pop, but wars always have been laggy, no matter how big or small servers were.

Very true

I know it’s not as black and white, but shouldn’t wars be off-loaded to a separate server instance entirely? If I am not mistaken, invasions & wars still occur on the same server. If multiple invasions & wars overlap one another, I can only imagine the lag being worse.

Where did I say no lag? Read what I wrote again…
The lag is much much worse on higher pop servers

May be time to drop the Wars from 50 vs 50 to 40 vs 40 or even 35 vs 35. These issues have been going on way to long. Instead of us players waiting for AGS to move Heaven and Earth, while we waste time, effort and resources on wars that are basically a crape shoot right now. A lower over all size of participants seems like a logical, practical, temporary fix that can soothe the player bases. I’ve lost too many PvP’ers from my roster over the past 5-6 months because of PvP Issues. Lag-show wars is high on that list of reasons why people have left.

Please please please also understand I believe its not just the 100 people in the war but the 2k players on the specific server that contributes to the lag I feel. With the pushing, the OPR’s, and dungeon mutations all happening at the same time. Plus other companies pushing even during the war to instantly put it back in conflict on high pop servers I think is a major contribution. I could be very wrong but it seems to happen more on high pop servers than low pop. Is there any way to have OPR, dungeons, and Wars (anything with a load screen) to be hosted on a seperate server of its own like World of Warcraft does with there raids and dungeons, pvp…ext…??

-Concerned player who loves the game but the lag in all things end-game has made the game non enjoyable and non playable on high pop servers because of the LAGGG. Last war on point I was recieving over 8,000 input lag and 15 or so players just frozen on screen for 15min of a war is just unnaceptable for player enjoyment and experience.

Imagine doing a BUG FIX month and the problem that made a lot of people quit is still there after 5 months after release. Lag!

You’ve been working on that since October, and it’s still not fixed.
This is legit unacceptable

No wonder you lost so many players (me included)

They don’t talk about it almost at all because it seems they can’t fix or improve it.

My server had a triple war today with 3 wars at 9PM. I was prepared for insane lag as the previous double war we had was some of the worst lag I’ve ever witnessed.

But today, after the newest patch, there was actually zero lag, it was some of the best war perfomance ive seen in a while and that was TRIPLE war. No one got the movement bug either.

I really hope this is here to stay, cause it really restored my faith in this game

Can confirm, they definitely did something to fix it even though nothing was mentioned in the patch notes. I was watching streams of wars happening on my server and didn’t seem to lag at all. The server was at 2k pop with 300 in queue aswell. Thank you for listening AGS <3
