Dear Devs: how you ruined OPR in as few words as possible

hey guys, good job on the balance changes coming. that stuff is fun. but has literally nothing to do with this post.

The problem is, when you added leaderboards to OPR, you changed a casual format that was a fun place to enjoy the combat mechanics in this game into a ‘competitive’ format, but i put that in quotes because it was done without regard for basic game theory.

problem 1: players are incentivized to do not fun things, like farm trees and press T, in order to win more.

problem 2: players are incentivized to form premade groups, discord communications, etc. and this upsets the random matchmaking balance and makes it less fun for casual players

problem 3: players are incentivized to purposely make things not fun for others: focus people, make them frustrated, tilt them in chat, etc. every person convinced to quit by any means is one less person grinding the leaderboard in competition with them.

The leaderboard doesn’t even reward the best players. Even if OPR was perfectly balanced, and even if classes were perfectly balanced, it would just reward rapacious gameplay still.

Please return OPR to a casual game format, unless you really want it to be a niche of niche players competing for ego rather than fun.

i just wanted to add, i didn’t mean to imply this list was exhaustive, just the most obvious.

it also encourages people to idle in lobby when their team is losing, it encourages people to abuse bugs, etc. plenty of ways it is anti-fun.

No they didnt lmao. Pvp is naturally competitive, its why its fun. Do you expect to go in opr and have people not want to win? What are you trying to achieve with these posts? Make it so people don’t want to win and go in opr just to stat pad? :joy:

nothing i mentioned was about personal stats… the leaderboard has nothing to do with those, or any numbers.

i didn’t “go to opr and expect” anything… i’ve been playing it since they added it, and i’m making an observation about the change that they have made to it.

gypsum farmers
crate farmers
people watching a movie

So 0 people?

so your perspective is that 0 people are casual opr players, and never have been?

thank you for your contribution to the thread… you are actually a perfect illustration of what the remaining OPR players have become

You mean what is currently happening most the time in opr?

Totally true.
Within the leaderboards they only have to compete weapons of the same type with each other, just for starters.

These leaderboards never had to be added in this state, it is just that it is not understood that someone from the AGS group has approved the leaderboards in the state they are in… seems surreal.

Casual opr players go in opr to watch a movie? What :skull:

So what is the point of this post? The guy is crying that people are actually trying to win in opr and youre here saying people dont want to win and just stat pad. Its like yall playing diff games :joy:

it seems you are confused about the leaderboards. the opr leaderboard with a reward is for total wins. it has nothing to do with “stat padding”

consider for instance, “stat padders” want /more players/ lowbies and casuals in their matches, to make their score bigger.

People trying to float in the win leaderboard want less players, because that means there are fewer people capable of keeping up with the top 50 or top 10. That is the basic game theory i explained in my original post.

also i dont know who you think you are impressing by considering an explanation of fundamental game theory “crying.” perhaps it is just to amuse yourself?

@MEOW

Don’t take it personal it’s coming from a . No matter how you explain things, they will be misunderstood, while the  remains oblivious. I’m just easily amused. This is the equivalent of tapping on the glass at a zoo.

I think it is important to make sure there is no actual truths buried deeply, deeply among the flung verbal excreta, so I’ll engage anyone’s words. I am lucky enough to be from a generation only vulnerable to sticks and stones

Even when zoo animals cannot comprehend the words you used, and make their own noises instead, sometimes meaning can be conveyed by an empathetic and patient person.

A jackal remains a jackal regardless of how empathetic you are to it being a jackal. Best to just enjoy the view.
