Dear DEVs, try the musket before you nerf it

I play musket as a secondary, just something to take a break from my usual build.

The only thing it really needs, is a distance nerf. It’s shooting distance is a bit far for how the game is setup. Damage wise, it’s fine.

I mean, the weapon is the least played for a reason and here you are getting rekt by it and crying to cancel the weapon (shrugs)

Only, I never asked for it to be canceled and my choice for PvP isn’t New World. There’s little skill required here at all, and especially not snipe camping.

you make the distance any shorter you’re a sitting duck of getting two shotted by every other weapon. You can’t not run glass Cannon on the musket and expect to do meaningful damage that is the issue.
The devs can:

  1. Reduce range, increase damage/reload time
  2. Increase range, add bullet drop
  3. Keep it the way it is

Bullet drop would be a decent compromise. That and remove hit scan. Would make it more difficult to hit moving targets at a distance.

Yeah, And the main reason is probably there are more talking about the GA being op and now they are coming here to cry and get something else nerfed instead of that.

I mean just look at the posts of these players almost all of them can’t even put together a normal argument, have no idea about the weapon and over exaggarating all the time. My favourite is the post where they post video and it is visible that they are running in the open and didnt even try to dodge. Or when they dying from like 6-7 shots. Actually its funny.

Edit: they rapid fire, the shots come from 1 single person. Your tiny brain probably needs this explanation else you would say it’s multiple muskets shooting at the same time instead of agreeing they turned musket into ak74

There needs to be a damage dropoff over distance, no question. This is coming from someone who plays musket. It just does too much damage while being too safe in it’s current spot. I play 5 con and play right around, if not in, the points in OPR and don’t have any issues outputting damage/staying alive so there’s really no excuse. It can be played just like a mage, same range, same survivability. Anyone who doesn’t think it needs just a raw damage drop off based off distance is delusional.

I dont play musket, still lvl 1. But, I know it is the only remaining range weapon that can pressure the CC of death ball, GA/WH/IG adding BB soon.

PVP is all about slaughtering groups with those 4 weapons. Musket is slighly inconvenient for them, so it will probably get nerfed.

Apparently to only weapons they want in PVP in this game is GA/WH/IG, and they made BB pair with any of those well. Pick from these weapons or dont PVP.

i get the idea, its cool and all, but a hitscan weapon with that much range just doesnt fit this game style IMHO
make it shorter range and increase its damage. But then we have blunderbuss…

I just played an opr against 6 muskets, I use light armor, I could not play because the ease of hit is gigantic as well as damage ! the game is becoming boring for those who wear light armor !

add damage drop off if u guys are lazy to do another system than hitscan system lmao
or change the name from musket to lasergun

No, the musket should not be shooting over 75m, period. it should also have 15-20 meters on any other weapon.

The range is what is the issue here, no the damage. The range is not allowing mages to get in range to be able to counter, or melee to run up and force you to leave or die.

That is the problem, not your damage. All damage should be in the 2-6k damage area, and musket fits there well. IF anything in this regard needs to be nerfed, its the rate of fire on shooter stance (making it 1-2 seconds between shots), not the damage itself (via drop off).

The range also plays a role in not allowing muskets to get proper tuning they need, which will be vital to arena game play.

I just played.OPR, in light 520 and 5 muskets killed me please nerf it.

Also when I gravity well and ice storm people they didnt die instantly, please look into that, not fair.

For those concerned about the range and abilities of the musket read “Blood and Treasure” a very interesting historical book about America’s frontier focusing on Daniel Boone. With a skilled shooter, the musket had excellent range and was very lethal.

The musket is actually one of the weapons in the game that has an historical correlation.

With no bases of realism and every time its brought into the argument about musket balance it instantly becomes a joke. If realism is what you want, sure lets do this. Lets nerf its fire rate to 15-20 seconds PER SHOT. Not ability, PER SHOT. That means you will enter shooter stance, Shoot once, and WAIT 15-20 seconds for an animation do do the reload.

Oh wait, Your realism kinda does not work here does it?

ITS A VIDEO GAME, NOT RL. IF it was RL we’d not have people shooting magic powers all over the place.

In reference to shooters stance, think of Hawkeye in Last of the Mohicans. In a battle, someone is constantly reloading the gun for the accurate sharpshooters. In this way a sharpshooter can fire, someone hands him (or her) another loaded gun and he or she fires again at a rapid rate - much faster than if the shooter had to manually reload.

In the game shooters stance isn’t much good in the open during wars and OPR since everyone is either moving constantly or has max armor. It is critical during invasions to take out bombers, snipers and Happy, the skull laser eye. Shooters stance also not much use in PvE - better to take a shot, throw a trap and switch to a melee weapon.
