It’s not a bad idea, except for the fact that they will demote equipment you already own.

Nope. It will scale, while you earn expertise… Its still a good thing to get one early. Good perks and you are safe the whole way up. 
Nope they are nerfing all the other ways of getting your watermark up and they confirmed it. So this change is dumb and their isn’t a positive spin you can put on it.

On full servers in Mutgard it will be crowded with people. There will be no one to farm WM on empty ones. Crafting against the background of an increased flow of drops from Mutgard and other elites will become even less profitable, if not unprofitable.
Can somebody post a link to whatever forum these guys are getting all their “feedbacks” from? We need to see that someone actually thinks that forcing the WHOLE PLAYERBASE into doing the mind-numbing grind for HWM is great.
If the other players opt to put all their efforts to grind for HWM, then great, because that’s what they think is the fun way to get good gears.
But, don’t ever force the people who opt to put in all their efforts in levelling their CRAFTING SKILLS up, to grind for HWM as well.
Getting good gears should not be acquired through ONE WAY ONLY. We should get it in whichever method that WE THINK is fun for us - either CRAFTING or HWM TRAIN.
This is ags so it’s hard to confirm anything till it goes live but there’s a screenshot of CS telling that yes this will happen in one of the threads…for what that is worth.
So you wanna refund me my gold and time I put in so I don’t feel as bad having to regrind another 1000 hours into a system I avoided before….but I’m kidding cause I’ll leave like I suspect a lot of other people will. For a game losing like 100k players a month, I’m sure pissing off the remaining like 90% is a good decision.
It will not make it less of a grind. Before you could go endlessly kill elite mobs and get drops. At 61+ you could even improve watermark. Now you will only be able to guarantee one watermark upgrade a day at best. And there is no assurance that its anything more than improving it by 1. There are 5 armor slots, 3 jewelry slots, and 12 weapon slots. That means 2000 things to upgrade. At one guaranteed a day it will take roughly 5 years. Now you can still get upgrades outside of that, but the guaranteed Gypsum way is that. That’s assuming they don’t add any weapons or increase the max gear score level.
Lost ppl are not a valid argument… They didnt go because of this change xD You cant use that for your purpose. 
The changes actually makes sense, so you reach 60 and you start levelling your gearscore proportional to your watermark
Before: Makes lvl60 in a week, who cared about the game, shop equip and go pvp with your maximised build.
You realised is an mmo right?
From many comments what I see is people who want to log, have everything is a week so can open the game, make 10mins pvp and close it with an already minmaxed build.
I actually agree with this changes and will also give much more variety to the gameplay.

most of the changes you have been implementing are against of what players have been trying to advice as feedback, please, stop making the game the way you guys think it should be played and start making the game according to what the players need or find fun.

First of all, I would like to say that I personally like the planned change from the HWM system to the expertise system. This removes the perceived need to do elite runs permanently and adds new options and alternatives to motivate players who absolutely do not like these elite runs. I think the HWM system is almost superfluous anyway, because most players have 600 GS of gear before they reach a watermark of 600. But I would like to make a recommendation to make this change fair for all players.
In my opinion, a reset of all players’ Watermarks will be necessary so as not to disadvantage anyone. All players should start with 520 expertise. This way, people who haven’t done any elite runs so far and have focused more on crafting, for example, won’t be disadvantaged. At the same time, players who have invested a lot of time to push their watermark up should not be disadvantaged by this reset. Here an appropriate compensation would be necessary (e.g. legendary items with a GS of the highest watermark achieved). In addition, the possibilities to push the expertise should be as diverse as possible. The Gypsum system is a good start, but could also be supplemented by activities related to gathering or crafting.
I also see the concerns of many players that full-time crafters could be disadvantaged by the expertise system. I can’t estimate the consequences for crafters at the moment, but maybe we can introduce mechanisms that don’t disadvantage players who have invested a lot of time to push a crafting skill to 200. I could imagine perks on items that increase the expertise level. Or maybe consumable items that can be made with crafting skill 200, which push the expertise. You guys will think of something.
In summary, I think the planned changes in the system are good. But I think there is still some tuning necessary.

You are bypassing everything. No game with similar mechanics allows for such actions (ie Destiny), that you can just skip the leveling process. GS/HWM - IS leveling, just not in the term more widely used.
well yes but it doesn’t mean it has to be this way. I have always thought that this is one of the properties of a sandbox/player-economy driven => Enjoy the game how the F you want. having watermark in this game was already trash and now they are making everything grindier (daily grind or FOMO). it’s basically becoming your standard korean game, just need the pay2win watermak levelin up potion in the cash shop and we’re here.
making high level equipment less accessible does not make the game more fun, it just force you to grind the same events over and over.
