No this is not a long run issue. This a a issue to add tons of time sync. I system that adds weeks to single slot progression for anyone not sitting at 520+ currently. go look at the math its posted in the thread above.
I played the game the way they designed it, and now because of that im being punished. So yeah we are pissed off and are probably going to go play Eldin Ring.
I think these numbers wont exactly hold up with stated intention either. they stated you can craft one of each type of orb a day from gypsum. I assume this means you can craft bow, great axe and hammer but not three bows in a day. this would allow you to up the expertise across multiple items. They also stated the expertise bump would be increased to make it feel impactful when you gained it. If you assume expertise increases at 5 exp per bump, and you can make, we will assume, about 5 orb casts per day. that takes the number of days needed to grind all 880 points of expertise down to about 35.2 days. 880 / 5 expertise per bump / 5 orb casts. These numbers will probably not be accurate but are still reasonable assumptions to make.
Kind of off topic but is there going to be weapon balance changes at all this patch ?
This is only because you don’t close the application. Because if you REALLY played these hours you would have played 18 hours a day since launch… If that’s true… i feel sorry for you.
Steam only looks at if the EXE is running.
Why? Of course, it’s their goal, people can disagree if they are reaching their goal, but to think and suggest they want anything but that is stupid.
the idea of games as a service is predicated on trust that the developers will not remove your progress.
you think people would be fine if steam cloud destroyed their saves?
Their goal is killing the game and they are doing a good job at it.
The orb itself is on a daily cooldown… The parts you get to craft it come from different sources. The orb is what timegates it all.
They are not destroying anyone’s progress, it’s a step back for some (and we don’t even know how bad yet) that will open more opportunities. It would be better if this was there from the start, but that’s how it is.
although it says “you won’t earn more gypsum when you have enough for an orb, for 23 hrs”
My 600 gear I spent 100k getting and hundreds of hours farming for is turning into LEVEL 530 GEAR. Read it a few times.
i swear to god if you reset our watermarks to 500 im done im never gonna touch this game again
it is not, it will still be the same GS but capped down to your expertise that you can work on. And you will be able to get more and better gear. 
Seems to me a lot of folks are misunderstanding what these changes are and how they are going to effect all of us. This isn’t some new grind or time-gating. They are rebranding the HWM system and adjusting how it is tracked while adding another new system to aid us in getting higher gear score items, guaranteed. What are you all losing your minds over?
It my weapons and dmg I am most worried about because it seemed to be way harder get WM increases on them so I bought the best I could at the time which are around 589. If I dont get my Weapon WM up between now and the update that is going to drop my weapon WM down to areound 520 and severely nerf my dmg against already buffed mobs.
a step backward is literally the meaning of destroying progress.
progress is forward motion toward a goal
a step back is a regression away from a goal.
they are literally regressing GS progress.
So I can work on getting my 600 gear back to 600 that I already spent hundreds of hours and 100k on…thats sound game design friend. Also its the same content.
People who didn’t work on HWM and focused solely on crafting (especially for their dryad sets) are losing for sure.
Because all your current gear No matter what the GS will now scale to you HWM and they have greatly reduced world/chest and boss drops
