Dec update response

Wait, so my gear is getting nerfed after 600 hours of grinding, to the average gear score or expertise I have farmed? Baring in mind Jewellery will be everyone’s lowest and basically doesn’t drop anywhere? So my 600GS items will drop massively because there are no Jewellery drops meaning my watermark for those items is like 520 MAX. My gearscore is 595 but watermark average is lower due to non existent Jewellery drops.

Might as well slap me in the face.

You don’t seem to be getting the impact of this.

You can only make one gypsum orb a day from all the ways it can drop. Let’s say you’re not trying to raise your main weapon HWM, which you should be, but instead you focus on 3 pieces of jewelry. With one a day orb, it would take up to 300 days to level your 3 pieces of jewelry.

To be able to use 3 items you already paid 50-60k for.

Or let’s say YOU are the crafter and you grinded hundreds of thousands of gold to get to the point that you can make YOURSELF these 600gs items.

And it will now take you 3 months to be able to use your own. Do you get it?

Yeah @Littlecaeser, good job, you literally copied and pasted Amazon’s announcement… Clueless little worker over there…

Newsflash I had perfect perk/rolls on my ring/jewel/earring except it was 504, 501, 515 - So i spent 50k on 600gs SAME rolls/perks…

What now buddy?.. You are missing the entire reason people are upset… This change is taking away the time INVESTMENT people chose to tackle as per game developer design… They chose the non watermark grind and now they are PUNISHED. People don’t wanna hear “oh put more time to make up for the time we are taking away from you, it will eventually match up”

Like are you for real Mr. Littlecaeser lmao… Expand your mind brother b4 u hit us w another Amazon copy pasta.

Also, I’ve been posting a lot so I feel I should add this little bit of info…
I’ve been grinding watermark since for ever, I play this game to round up massive packs of elite 65 mobs and bring them to the BLENDER BABY!.. massive pulls as I can get it w a group of 5 - Either mines of reekwater… My water mark is 590+ this change means nothing to me, I happen to LOVE elite mob farming so I’m set… My voidbent is gonna go from 600 to 592+…

I’m here fighting for the principle of it, my friends and the people who we will lose on our community…

Ok do us a favor and poll changes like RuneScape since you guys would have a 5% yes rate to the proposed changes since anyone who did not just mindless Zerg gets reset.

I did not spend more time then the zergers getting 200 skills in everything to be reset down to 500 something while they people sitting with my 600GS crafted items get to actually use them….

  1. This change 100% invalidates the Legendary Weapon Quests.
  2. This change is very exclusionary. There are 7 listed ways to obtain gypsum. 5 of which require high end PvE. There is 1 way for PvPers. There is 1 way for Crafters. 0 ways for fishermen. 0 ways for Gathers.
  3. Completely hoses low pop servers. They can’t get a group to engage in the 6/7 pieces of content to increase their Expertise.

It’s almost like AGS doesn’t understand what they have created. In every MMO, you have hardcore PvPers who despise PvE content. You also have PvE only players that will NEVER under any circumstances engage in PvP. There are also players who make 100% of their money by gathering and selling crafting materials to crafters. Speaking of crafters there are people who do nothign but crafting.

High Water Mark is/was a terrible time sink. That is all it is. In a game that is not subscription based there should not be a time sink of this magnitude. Expertise is the exact same thing with a new name.

The only thing being “revamped” here is that crafted gear will be effectively worthless because it will not longer be a viable option. If AGS wanted to make a meaningful change, they should address the stat differential across items. For example an item with Dex should only provide bonuses and perks for Dex based items/abilities.

So, Low pop, PvPers, gatherers, fishers and crafters get shafted because AGS’s ultra-grindy-zero-fun HWM system, which was a terrible idea in the first place, is now being doubled down on.

sum can mean the total, so gyp all

first off, theres no way possible that the gypsum chests will only upgrade 1 expertise per open. so your 300 days for 3 items is speculation.

secondly, if you dont already have a mid level HWM are you setting foot in dungeons or doing any myrk runs or doing any end game activities that drop upgrades?

@Scullz Lets say you bought that upgraded item. you spent ALL that gold just to bypass their expertise system. Now when the patch drops your amulet is reset to 510 expertise but the item in your slot has the potential to be a 600gs item. Every time you open a gypsum amulet chest your item is gaining additional power and eventually you wont even notice anything happened.

Whats more, its a level playing field because we are all in the same boat. Could you have gotten away with the 510gs item? sure but when you eventually get expertise upgrades that item can essentially be worthless.

And this is the problem. I spent more time crafting my crafts to 200 before getting HWM up, because I preferred crafting over zerging.

Maybe they will reset EVERYONE and put crafters and zergers on even ground and everyone starts at 500, but this should have been implemented in beta, not now.

And if this is the way to reset everyone after the exploits, then it should have been done 2 weeks in, not 2 months in. You’re too late AGS.

You’re attempting to make beta, and even alpha level changes, to a live game. Unacceptable.

So you didn’t even read the patch notes and you’re here trying to debate people who have. Please stop wasting time and read it for yourself.

Here they are:

Notes

Here is the section you should focus on:

We believe that providing different ways to collect Gypsum will allow players to play a variety of content, while always finding at least a few activities they love to progress in their gear score. Engaging in these activities for 30-60 minutes a day will earn players enough Gypsum of that type to craft a Gypsum Orb (except for Topaz since the Attunement potion can only be crafted once a week). After players have earned sufficient Gypsum for an Orb, they won’t earn more for 23 hours. Gypsum Orbs can then be crafted into Gypsum Casts of any weapon, armor, or trinket type. Note you can only craft any type of Cast, once per day. Opening a Gypsum Cast will guarantee an Expertise bump and reward players with a random piece of gear of that type with Gear Score equal to the new Expertise level. We’ve introduced a new Kiln crafting station in all end game zones that allows players to craft Gypsum Orbs and the various Gypsum Casts.

Read before writing, littlecaeser.

nowhere it says that each cast only raises expertise by 1 point though.

Please do a poll. Then you will get a massive feedback.

I’m sorry but the team and you by extension have zero credibility at this point.

I would express the shared opinion of my company of crafters and explorers (10-15 constantly playing people). We are devastated by the planned PTR expertise update.

We did not ran the trains through high level areas. Leveled slowly, enjoying the view. We love the game and the game world. I see that 4 tiers of crafting have already been completely destroyed by the game over-the-board leveling speed. Now the developers introduce destroying tier 5 grade of equip. So we farmed a lot of mats, traded, went to dangerous trips to northern mountains. And we are now promised that the items we craft will become useless - because we totally do not have watermarks anywhere high. We will not be able to sell things or gift useful things to people that play with us.

The whole process feels like the developers want to see the players play single-player game. Rocket fast leveling, areas being forgotten, crafting of tier 2, 3, 4 completely forgotten. Now you introduce daily quests and downscaling of the tier 5 items.

Please think it over. The game has a lot of wonderful things. A lot of interesting and unique mechanics, stories, areas and people. Please do not destroy it to make it another copypaste MMO.

I hope everyone takes the time to read your post. Well said.

Thank you, it will likely get buried but I do think it touches on the points of most of the key notes anyway.

Appreciate the call out

Dude you need to step outside and have a Snickers…

Descaling is telling anyone that thought chest runs were a boring content in the game that they are required. I’m not going to get enough upgrades from my preferred content to get my expertise to my actual GS, so I’ll be forced to do chest runs to try and supplement.

I really feel like you have a great idea with the change, it’s better then the system you had. The issue you are going to see backlash from is descaling. You’re telling us who focused on crafting, PvP or working within a role in our company that we wasted months on the wrong endgame content.

This decision will favor those who did endless chest runs, and hurt anyone who didn’t. I think this change could have been seamlessly implemented when you increased the GS cap. Everyone would be on a level playing field then. Here you give those who choose the “right” endgame activity a leg up on everyone else.

I applaud the team for making improvements to the game I love. Really, almost all of this patch looks great. The descaling is overkill. If you really want to add descaling, you should consider meeting in the middle, halfway between what your items GS is and your expertise level. 600 chest, 500 expertise, operates at 550. Helps elevate the power gap, while still implementing your changes.

Stay safe

This guy gets it. Old system, new system… doesn’t matter if there are no people online on our servers.

Nah, how about releasing the first expansion with new zones and higher-level mobs where this new system kicks in at level 70 (or whatever the new level cap is). :grinning:
