Dec update response

Done with this game when this goes live. What’s the point of a “player driven economy” if the items on the TP are useless now? Why craft anything? Why buy anything? I’m guessing we’re supposed to just sit in our little bubble now constantly grinding watermark.

“LFG for nerfed elite chest farm”

I’m good, no thanks. Wish I could say it was fun while it lasted but that’d be a lie. Bugs on top of bugs and when you “fix” them you do so while also adding nerf on top of nerf.

“There we fixed the stupid bug you where complaining about and while we’re at it we’re gonna nerf everything else because fuck you for the inconvenience”

I’ve just become a fan of newworldguy’s pictures.

is this for real mf? https://www.reddit.com/r/newworldgame/comments/r86ttj/data_mining_stealth_changes_found_in_the_ptr/

Ya I think thatd work, but same premise. It is a seemless transition if you add it when it’s being raised because that’s how it is now. Really challenging and causes issues to implement retroactively

if this goes in as described, i will be uninstalling. I grinded my voidbent set, i will not tolerate it working at a 500GS after the grind i already put in on it. nor will i accept my gathering gear nerfed to the ground. I made the coin to buy sets at t5 between 4.9 and 5% luck only to see them preform now at 4% per piece is the most assinine thing ive ever seen. go ahead with this AGS, see how many more leave. Ive defended some of the more argued changes, but this 1 i will not stand by and say good things about. So much for a do anything, play as you want game, this is making chest farms manditory, and if this was a intended direction, should have been in game from day 1, not now that folks have spent time doing it thier way, only to be told it is now wrong

I feel the issue is that your making a change that should have been done 3 months ago. Or be done the next Gear expansion. but in doing it now your alienating your casual players, and not helping anything for the 600 GS players that have already maxed.

You’re also breaking your Carfting system pretty much making it no longer Optional, but a needless grind. what happens to people that just gather and sell mats to earn coin to buy better gear?

To give a better half way measure, Add the Gyps. Keep the watermark system as it exists today ( doesn’t down grade items up to gs 600), Note that in the next gear increase 600-650, This system could go into effect. Using the new system to level the expertise 500-600, lift the caps, maybe use dimishing returns or a Bonus for the first time doing something for the day. for mats to increase your score from 500-600. measure how this works. Lore: gear over 600 requires Expertise to fully master. Also maybe look at a Bell curve, making 500-550 easy, 550-600 harder and then going to fully envisioned system for 600+

You’re also locking your casual players that only get a 1-2 nights a week to play. Your changing the grading scale too quickly and going to drive off the player base.
At first i was worried that this was going to be another anthem, going forever between patches and then having no content. but I saw the first wave of patches and got really hopeful.
then i was worried this is going to be wildstar… where the devs have a vision of elitist game where everything has to be a grind or bone breaking hard.
Now i’m convinced that your just going to patch away all your users with massive grinds and changes that benefit no one except for try throttle end game that many people have used under tunes systems to exploit.

with all duo respect , every single feedback i read so far was negative towards these changes , so using the word “some of you” is wrong in this case.

this literally would of been perfect at 600+
start calling it masterclass gear. since what comes after legendary.

can a dev explain why they chose Gypsum of all materials?

Probably it’s because that’s how they call whatever substance they are smoking IRL.

And now they’re adding Expertise obstacle before you can use it if you manage to beat the 0.000476% odds before you’ve maxed your new and improved watermark.

Streams and no lifers can kill a game quicker then anyone. The 5% complain about something so devs listen since there streamers or have the most hours then screw over the other 95%. Learn to listen to the casuals we are what make up your player base. Not shroud.

I think people are being constructive. When people say that AGS hates its user base, they are not claiming to be inside the heads of the developers - that obviously is impossible - but rather stating how they feel, given what the developers are putting in. Otherwise, they are being constructive by saying “Please do not do this”.

I don’t think the developers hate the user base. I don’t think they care about the user base. Just at Ion talks about his team developing WoW for themselves, not the users - and then seeing millions of users who are not at all like Ion leave - my impression is that the AGS developers have an idea of the game they wish to develop and users who disagree are free to go elsewhere.

Wait a moment they didn’t announced the weapon changes that are on PTR atm.
Wait to see more drama and more unjustified changes.

Very good points.

Even if they do roll out the gypsum changes prior to the GS downgrade, OPR is not a valid way of achieving watermark upgrades for most as it is next to impossible to even get an OPR match on these servers. My server has not had OPR for a couple weeks now. This then forces the PVP players, crafter/gatherers and those that fish into that asinine chest grind or PVE content they did not purchase the game to play.

If there is any take away.
individuals feel all the of the changes have been quite hostile towards them.
and its pretty clear a LOT of people feel this way.

these individuals feel ignored or spat on for no reason. with no real transparency about why things are change this way.
its great for new world the game. not so much the player base if it wasnt clear.
there is nothing rewarding about this (as it currently is) and the last crafting update
so what was there to expect? amr?

speaking of transparency its pretty funny to see what was just data mined. (supposedly)

Again…nowhere does it state that the guaranteed expertise increase is 1 single point…i.e. 500 >501. Instead, it states you can get a single guaranteed upgrade per day which could look more like 500 > 505 or in lucky cases 500>510 or something.

I read the patch notes. Maybe you should try being less condescending and read statements a little more carefully

One bump a day from gypsum, and it’ll probably be like a 10gs or lower bump and in ONE specific slot.

The OP seemed very constructive to me. He expressed a lot of serious problems and concerns with the game and your complete and utter failure to address the vast majority of them.

By this point we all understand your job is literally paying you to lie too this community, but if it’s constructive criticism you want then here you go…

For starters please stop making false claims and flat out lying to us. Your community managers and devs are obviously not on the same page as we can get a response from 20 different people representing AGS and receive 20 different answers with usually all of them eventually proving false and wrong. You post patch notes and dev blogs that only contain a small fraction of the changes you make sneaking anything even potentially negative in and leaving us reeling from all the stealth changes. You refuse to accept blame or guilt for the ridiculous changes you make and fall back to stupid comments like “accidentally overtuning” the difficulty when we all know those were the changes you intended to make. The fact that you haven’t reverted them despite how disastrous they were to the game shows us as much. Honestly it would be a bigger problem if it was done accidentally as that would suggest you don’t bother to even test said changes as they are immediately apparent and obvious to anyone looking.

Next your telling us you listen to feedback and constructive criticism? If you actually did then I seriously doubt you would have replaced a terrible system like HWM that was too repetitive, boring, and grindy with a reskinned version of it that is obviously destined to be even more repetitive, boring, and grindy than before. Just be honest with us for once in your life.

Also as a side note you want us to “please avoid creating hostile conspiracy theories to explain those decisions.” Then please explain those decisions to us in detail and how our feedback was taken into account. Most of them are so stupid and make so little sense that we have to resort to conspiracy theories since nothing else makes even the slightest bit of sense.

Why not timegate crafting skill level per 1 a day, level, weapons level, reputation and so on. This sounds like great fun and time investment. I also like how a team makes decisions for players and tell them whats fun is the is the same team that already such a great job. Those processes for sure worked in alot of mmos…
