Just caught up on all the patch notes and glanced in the PTR. High end gathering AND crafting are now useless, two of the three main things (third being OPR) I have been doing in end game. So we will have fewer ways to enjoy a game that was already massively struggling to provide a fun experience. Shame as some parts of this game are amazing, I was really rooting for it to succeed.
Just got done having a chat in the company discord, looks like a good few of us are leaving/going on hiatus. Some people will say that is pre-mature since it’s not in live yet, and while that is a fair point. I would argue that if this is what they have come up with in the time allotted for QoL updates, then it is an extremely worrying sign for the long term health of the game.
I’m not convinced of this yet. Most of the stats on the armor I see on the TP are crap. If crafters will have more control over those stats/perks, this could work out OK for crafters. In addition, right now, if a crafter makes a GS 560 item, it’s basically useless (as folks would buy a GS 580 for a measly 100g). However, after the changes (if implemented), that 560 crafted item is now useful to anyone with an Expertise of 500-560.
On top of everything, charging 600 gold per cast is a joke. AGS just removed the ability for those with high drops/crafts to sell them as people wont buy shit getting downgraded so enjoy poverty yall.
I had to get my account active to post on the forums just to give this feedback. This change is absolutely horrible for the game, and I’m not going to play if it goes in. I am more of a crafter, so I grinded out my jewelcrafting, and just last night I spent hundreds of thousands (3x major trophies, all gear, food, hundreds of asmodeum, etc.) of coin to make myself a solid ring. With this update, that ring is now heavily nerfed until I get my expertise up. And then, why would I want this ring, with solid rolls, but still missing one ideal roll, when there’s already a BiS ring in the game? If I have to grind my ring expertise up to 600, why would I care to roll on rings with all the most expensive materials in the game, when I could just join every Lazarus run and get the perfect rolled ring? What purpose is there to burning through hundreds of asmodeum when I could just run Lazarus? I know drop rates can be quite low, but it takes so much longer to make all of that money and then luck into the ideal rolls.
So with this change, I feel me having 200 jewelcrafting is functionally useless. Because not only is acquiring the best jewelry from my crafting functionally removed, but all the non-600 stuff I craft in the 595-599 range with the best trophies/lifestyle buff is functionally useless as well. Why would someone buy those things when they literally aren’t useful without expertise? Just get some random okay ring at 500 and grind expertise, then go get a more ideal roll ring from something. If you have to grind for hours and hours on expertise, there’s no reason to settle for ‘good for now’ jewelry…because there’s no such thing anymore.
So anyway, if this change is how you guys do it, I’m 100% quitting the game. That’s not hyperbole, you ruin the entire strategy behind how I was playing the game. It’s not fun and it feels like a giant slap in the face.
@NW_Mugsy@Zin_Ramu Thank you for providing some clarification updates, especially before the weekend. I still don’t think this settles things perfectly, but at least it’s a step forward. Some points I would like to make;
Crafters will still be critical to end game gear. At end game, crafters are the best source of custom GS600 legendries. And with the addition of Timeless Shards they will now have even more control over the outcome of their crafts.
Except most decent legendary crafts are BOP. This still doesn’t help that 1-199 crafting any profession is a time sink with no value other than to just slog through it. With that said, Timeless Shards, provided they aren’t stupid expensive, is a positive change. In the short term crafters will be set back and the BoP patterns need to be both 1. Cleaned up so they don’t all have 1 garbage stat and 2. BoE
One of the goals of these changes is to provide and promote a variety of end game activities as way to increase your Expertise. If there were no limits, players would likely find the optimal activity and just spam that over and over. So we hope this change incentivizes players to try out all the different end game options we have rather than feeling compelled to optimize by grinding the same activity all day.
We all know people are going to find the quickest and easiest methods to finish this task every day, because you made it into a task. You should not expect anyone to not try and find the quickest way out of daily chores. This will still be grinding the same activity every day because there is NO OTHER end game content at the moment.
This means you can only craft one of each weapon type per day. i.e. only one Gypsum Bow Cast a day or one Gypsum Fire Staff Cast a day. But you could theoretically craft as many as 20 Gypsum Casts in a day (3 jewelry, 5 armor, 12 weapons) if you had that many Gypsum Orbs. Note though you will only be able to earn enough gypsum to craft a maximum of 7 Gypsum Orbs a day.
This is decent, most of us assumed that it was 1 per day regardless. So I suppose being able to craft 7 a day which I assume is a lot of grinding in game to make all 7 in one day is better as a whole. Thank you for clarifying
None of this addresses some of the more pressing issues, such as balance between us finished with HWM and those just starting it, the value of Gypsum to those finished with HWM for now and the directional force of trying to push people into systems they don’t like. Nor does it look at the direction we’re heading where we now have 3 daily “24HR COOLDOWN” activities which begins to force players into having to log in daily for fear of missing out (FOMO)
It’s definitely not useless. In the end, people who craft will come out with better gear, but the trade-off is getting screwed over right now and that doesn’t sit well with people.
Im not a crafter… but according to these recent dev responses, I feel like this issues is a bit overblown? Youll have at least a few months to get your watermark up, through crafting I might add so you wont need to grind content you dont prefer… And then you can create 600gs items to sell on the market that people can buy and it will scale with them.
Or that person can buy a 580gs piece if 600gs is too expensive for them atm
just the people who spent 600 hours leveling skills to craft their gear instead of farming HWM for a month. At least all the zerg groups will be left unaffected
i spent time ginding crafting, which was well thought out, rewarding, and worth the grind. Then im told that grind is useless with out another tedious grind. Please dont screw players that didnt farm HMW @Luxendra
You designed the game with multiple options towards gearing up.
Some people picked crafting
You punish them for not farming watermarks
People crafted because they didn’t want to farm watermarks. You’ve now told them they HAVE to do it.
To put it at your inteligence level:
To go outside, your mom told you to clean either the kitchen or your room, you decided to clean the kitchen.
Now your mom’s saying you have to clean your room to or you cant go outside.
Doing this is a scumbag move and you deserve all the hate you get!
I genuinely hope you all lose your jobs as people quit.
