Let me ask a question. I did the quest to get my GS 580 bow. Are you saying that it will be nerfed until my HWM is 580? I mean I did the quest, jumped through the hoops and now your gonna nerf it until I grind out HWM?
Good thought gg wonder how they want to explain this
Never thought about this but i assume if you get it through the quest and again im gonna assume your talking about torrent (580 legendary bow for level 20) i wonder if they will allow these quest items to upgrade the watermark now that you brought it up, would be an easy way for ppl to get 580 quickly
Lies
The server I am on is the top 20% of servers in activity within NA East. Within that subset of servers, our server population is about 15% of the player cap at peak hours or about 300 to 400.
Only the top 10% of servers have a healthy economy. 80% of the servers are ghost servers, and represent the majority of player experience.
Of the servers in NA east, the top 10% of servers (about 15) or so have 20,000 to 30,000 players within them. Of the rest of the NA East cluster, there are about 60,000 players (all of whom log in and out different times of the day), spread thin across 200 servers that are dying or completely dead.
About 55% of the playerbase is stuck on a sinking ship of a server with a downward trajectory regarding their server experience. Definitely needs to be addressed. ASAP.
Then I hope they are listening now… because the feedback on specifically the part about lowering gear that was purchased or crafted to whatever our effective “expertise” happens to be is overwhelmingly negative.
Not only are most of the activities that increase watermark now or give gypsum later impossible on low pop servers (especially if you play outside “prime time”) because they are group activities, it also dictates a group play style over solo.
The one solo way to earn gypsum is ridiculously gated worse than any other at once a week.
Solo players do like to be able to get the best gear same as any other player. We solo better or faster with good gear same as anyone else… and we occasionally do group with people where having good gear becomes practically mandatory.
We already know gearing up solo takes longer and if it’s reasonable it’s fine. One upgrade a week on one piece of gear or required grouping is not reasonable.
I really didn’t mean for this to be a solo vs group thing but the more I thought about it as I was writing the more it looked like that.
Up to this point I was placated by the fact I could wear 520 or 535 faction gear, buy some good drops, and eventually buy or craft 600 gear…. and let the watermark/expertise fall where it may.
Now you tell me I have to grind expertise or forever be stuck in shit gear, no matter my crafting level or purchasing power.
This is a nail in the coffin.
i pretty much ignore the more ranty posts. there is enough real fee3dback in here to get a good idea of where most of the forum stands
Didnt know any of this cause honestly i played this non stop on vahalla day one until halo came out now i play that more often cause im a shooter guy. That should be addressed and i hope they figure it out cause the leaks i saw have me excited for what this game could be with the new weapons and such
Yeah, definitely check out the lower pop servers and see how they fare. The lower populated servers represents the current New World experience. Valhalla, Eden and all the well known servers for streamers are the exceptions and not the rule. Currently at least, until mergers happen.
I’m just saying I don’t see a problem with harder. I prefer harder. It’s more rewarding when you get it. Everyone wants BiS now. What’s wrong with working for months to get it ? The leveling content is definitely redundant and leaves much to be desired unfortunately but Even the 1-60 was too fast IMO. End game should take wayyyy longer to get to. But everyone wants it now now now sadly
Well playing on Vahalla i can say ive probably had a much different experience then most on NW then but believe me the game could use some much better feedback then just the same repeated spew. Theres some good ideas in here lets hope the devs see them and use them.
Because invasions only care if you are geared enough to clear the bosses. The game tells you to get geared, because the game mode is not balanced around 500 Gear Score fresh level 60’s.
Invasions don’t wait for you to get geared. They spawn on your town every 72 - 84 hours. If your server can’t clear it, then prepare to hemorrhage players who server transfer off.
maybe a solution to this issue could be scaling based off the average of the armies average gear score
according to ptr datamining. it appears to be 3 so OMEGALUL
Because you’re confusing tedium with difficulty. It’s not “more work” (in terms of challenge) to do an easy thing a thousand times instead of a hundred times. It’s just a bigger time investment.
I could code a game in five minutes that you win after you click a button one billion times. It would take you decades of sleepless, non-stop clicking, but that doesn’t make it a difficult achievement.
this does not just make it harder. it actively removes the time i have put into the game. i have played for over 400 hrs. that time is just as valuable as the time for those that chased their watermark score. i used that time to solo to 60 and get my gathering skills maxed. i do not like crafting, so i sold everything i got and hapily paid to buy what tehy were making to help them continue their crafting. it was awesome to play a game that allowed me to level by running between the settelments and gathering and killing things along the way.
now, all the time and money i put into the gear that i bought for when i hit 60 is getting tossed out the window becuase i don’t run the elite end game. i am going to get dropped to 500 from 570-590 something (i don’t recall off the top of my head
) i am not going to start running those, grinding them into boredom and a job. it just isn’t fun for me, beyond the fact that i am a liability in a group.
it changes the game completely for me and is not something i would have bought had this been in place in the first place.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I have almost had it with these type of updates. I understand that these changes were needed in some sort of fashion, but that would only make sense if they didn’t also make it harder to increase you watermark outside of those stupid orbs and casts. It is already a super pain to grind watermark in the game the way it currently is.
Yes there is a hardcore player base, there is also a casual 1-2 hour a night maybe player base. I was doing ok with making gold for an Invasion and now that 600g from the Invasion is now pretty much going to be non-existent because of orb and cast cost. I really hope that what is currently live on the PTR is not going to be even close to what they will actually release in December. All the changes from what I can see are for one, not mentioned in any of the Dev posts, and two make the game longer instead of adding in more content.
Longer game with no content does not equal fun, I really hope the Devs reconsider several of the nerf changes to increasing your watermark by keeping the percent chance the same. Please AGS, I just don’t know how much more I can take of these types of updates before I move on to a different game, and this is coming from someone who stuck with GW2 since it first released, and I “did” enjoy this much better than GW2, but if you keep going in this direction, I will probably just go back there.
Prior to this going live, EVERYONE can right now purchase 600GS crafted or looted and USE it as 600GS. That is the point. There are TONS of people that choose to engage with the ultra-grindy-zero-fun HWM system. But there are at least as many that choose to not engage in that piece of crap system.
That’s the point.
3 months into the game they are making a monumental change because they are boo-boo lip that less people enjoy the “end game” they created.
So, their solution is to FORCE everyone to do it.
Straight up, I’ll quit the game if they implement this system.
Why would you punish those who decided to go the crafting way instead of a popular ‘chest train’ way?
When my guild(and pretty much the whole server) went for the watermark farm I checked the database and decided that I’ll get all my gear crafted, and went to farm mats instead. This was not entertaining at all, especially the orichalcum PvE wars which were a nightmare, but I managed to get full voidbent among the first only to find out that I could never craft a good weapon because the counterbalances were just ‘forgotten’ to be added to the loot table, and they remained ‘forgotten’ till 1.1.
Now, after I finally managed to reach 597 average gear score thanks to my crafts(still can’t get a better neck then a 570 quest one, after making about 100 full asmodeum necks) I read those expertise notes and I’m actually threatened. Not ready to invest another couple hundred hours to farm watermark just to get my equipped stuff to give the stats it was made with.
