December update will make or break the game

OK I understand but then remember that many chose not to grind watermark. Not just dupers.

I was just ready tomorrow to ask a friend to craft me a set of gear at 600gs. Weeks and weeks of preparation went into this day.

For what? It’ll be WORSE than the gear I bought for thousands of gold. Only it won’t because that’ll also be nerfed.

The only thing that has counted is my slow hwm increases (based on natural game play, not grinding).

I think highest weapon is one I don’t use at 545 or so.

It’s a huge, huge nerf bat incoming for me.

You’re absolutely correct, I am in that group myself, but I am willing to accept it as it is since they clearly want to make the GS grind endgame content. My proposal is simply to expand it to more than RNG and time-gated nonsense. To something where time in = reward, like crafting. Compared to what it is right now where time in = chance at reward. I also forgot to mention to make tuning orbs tradeable but I mean whatever that’s a whole other topic.

why would you accept it? there are TONS of better ways to spend your time.

They have stated time and again that development decisions (such as making expertise grind endgame content) are not up for debate this patch. I am willing to accept this change if it comes with the proposals I made or something better. Otherwise, as the title says, it’s a good chance the December update will be the last straw for many of the remaining few. If you have any better ideas I’d like for you to share so the devs may read them and hopefully be influenced by them.

Make or break. It’s broke and they’re burning it to the ground lol

I’ve pretty much resigned to moving back to WoW come 1.2 … only way I got around the 1.1 issues was to buy high level gear when I hit 60 … now that will be disabled too.

Believe me WoW is not much better. I still find New World more enjoyable but that’s just personal taste. What would make 1.2 better for you?

To me it will break the game.

What could they change that would change your mind?

At least in WoW I can do solo content - solo. 1.1 broke solo content, so I bought high level gear at level 60 just a week ago for a total of around 8000 gold, now it reverts to the 1.1 status where solo content isn’t solable.

I personally don’t mind the fact that the gear will be downgraded. Might be a good way to expose some dupers that have been running voidbent since they hit 60.

what? I stopped reading here. Plenty of people focused on crafting and OPR, and bought the void set with the gold they earned. They all have low WM.

If the update was exactly as it was without the proposal to downscale items based on your “expertise”, it’d be a largely intriguing proposed update.

If you read the rest before commenting you would understand that more people would benefit from my proposed changes instead of just having everyone take a hit.

I entirely agree. The entire down scaling is crappy, however, they have set their minds to that and I am simply attempting to propose small changes that would improve upon what is coming.

This has nothing to do with rest of what you wrote.

I’m just perplexed about your logic regarding voidbent with low wm = dupers.

Maybe you should read again what I wrote.

Issue is, as proven by the November PTR feedback, this team at New World does not listen to feedback nor do they appear to be at all connected to the vast majority of their community.

No other MMO that I recall put such a focus on what your gear score is, usually it was level and/or class locked. This new system forces a mindless grind plain and simple - or worse leads to a cash shop option in 2022 (like other rumors of late; $$ for more Azoth and storage anyone?). There is only so many ways you can slow the treadmill down before even the most die hard people walk away.

They clearly stated that the changes we see are final and they’re seeking to test for bugs in the PTR. I am simply providing feedback in the hopes they’re willing to make these small yet significant changes until the dev team releases something better.

I’m not happy about it either but it is what it is.

Are you kidding? WoW absolutely sucks.

The community should have a say and if the team that runs New World really does not want to listen… well lets just say the population drop recently will be nothing compared to what happens if that system goes life as in. My money is almost all casual players will be gone by Feb and good luck to these PvPers and grinders at that point.

Retail wow. You hit the max level and then grind to your highest gear score in either pve or pvp.
What ends up happening, if there are group based pve with rankings, they use the gear score system to gatekeep you from content.

It’s a very poor way of designing a game. It hides the fact there is not enough re-playable content to keep players busy for 1-2 years. And for a pvp marketed game there was an easy way to add that content without the watermark system too.
