Bruh. You spend all this time working a hatchet that crits you 3.5k per swing just for them to pop defy death. Double dodge into a health potion and they reset the entire fight.
Defy is the only reason I still run SnS with diminishing shield bash.
Hatchet misses a lot, but has a passives toolkit + berserker that puts it in the disgusting category to fight against.
The cooldown needs to simply be much longer. 3-5 minutes.you kill them and by they time they run back from spawn their death defy is back up.
3s is a long time for some people I guess.
Considering that the longest disables last a 2 seconds base and are lowered even further by freedom, yes, 3 seconds in combat is a long time. I’m not complaining, just dealing with it the only way I have.
Actually yeah the cooldown should be increased but at the same time, it should be decreased if the hatchet user did die.

Yeah, it is hard to deal with, but a fun trick happens to be that nullifying oblivion removes the defy death buff. The shield bash perk reduces it and so does the orb of decay one. I just use my oblivion and fight with them as I know that I’ll often win the matchup. It’s both weak and strong in different situations

I don’t see the point. Defy is 3 sec. Isn’t shield bash 3 secs? If you’re hitting them after they pop it anyway…doesn’t it just kind of…not matter? ![]()

Yes, but diminishing shield bash might remove a second off of it, disorienting the hatchet player. Additionally, Nullifying oblivion removes it instantly. I think you are misunderstanding the shield bash comment. The concept of stunning the player is there, but it’s the diminishing perk added to the shield bash that actually reduces the buff duration of Defy Death, making it no longer last 3 seconds

. I’m just saying that it’s not actually necessary unless they have some freedom. I mean really if someone pops defy death and you shield bash them(no diminishing required) you can walk away and they’ll just die. Assuming that no one breaks the stun of course.
3 seconds is an extremely long time.

It’s like the most underperforming weapon in pvp at the moment.
Every attack is predictable and you can walk away from its auto attacks.
Playing hatchet feels like it’s spears dumb younger brother you all make fun of.
Sure defy death is annoying, but have you ever been kited to death by a rapier abuser? Yeah, and we’re still getting threads crying about hatchet.
Defy Death should be reworked… Just give it 30-50% dmg reduction for 3sec instead…

Hatchet is sucker punched by just about anything with cc. Defy death is just a get outta dodge node that is hard countered by most CC & an Oblivion. Simple application of mechanics and they snap like twigs.
Yeah but then you don’t have to worry about some degenerate ranged user breaking your stun with a light attack.
Also, if they saved their berserk for breaking the stun, by the time the berserk animation wears off they’re basically ready to die anyways.
Defy Death isn’t the thing enabling them to double roll and pot to full resetting the fight, though.
Hatchet could use adjustements, but Defy Death isn’t an issue.
A Hatchet where most of your left click is a miss due to broken system and there is a guy asking to nerf a weapon which is already in a bad shape.
Defy Death is an issue? use orblivion = insta death. Dont have a vg? kite and time your hit = dead as well
Stop trying to kill weapon’s just because u are bad at the game doesnt mean the weapon is good.
