Take off those blinkers. PVP has interfered since day one in pve- it literally controls the entire town and market system, makes a small amount of pvp very rich and enables total market shutdowns.
If you weren’t part of the problem then you’d have a different viewpoint.
Not sure what does the word “instantiated” mean.
Google was not all the helpful…
So, not being familiar with the word you used, I’ll have to assume that it is something other than what I mentioned, as in, NO pvp contend/activities at all.
Not sure who that was directed at, to be honest.
I like that description, but also, for this new character creation option to really mean anything, we would really need to be able to create our new PvE only characters, and fresh new servers, so as to avoid all the pvp BS being dragged to them. We could transfer existing characters to these new servers, but then we would have all sorts of problems with existing characters having all 200 skills, and new characters starting at 1st level.
Personally, I would hate to loose all three of my existing 60th level characters and the 2000+ hours I have invested in them, but I would hate even more to have folks seeing the new PvE only servers fully stuffed with 60th level characters, and just saying, thanks, but no thanks.
Agreed.
The thing is, if the dev’s had been trying to run a business like a business, instead of like a game, then we would have had this option from day one. With separate servers, they could have had many folks on the PvE servers happily playing away, while the PvX servers could have had all the current PvP stuff, and without offending and discriminating against, the vast majority of their paying customer playerbase.
PVP servers generally don’t fare very well - as the majority of open world pvp’ers don’t want fair fights, they just want to gank to fuel their bruised egos.
They might tell you they would love a pvp server, but most of them wouldn’t move over, certainly not if they had to start fresh and without the massive gold mines of owning towns.
Hey i really don’t mean to be offensive here but im strongly against both suggestions.
They actually have to stop doing free transfers. we had that and it’s worse. players in low-pop server go to the highest one. those in high or medium population servers don’t use them. already high pop servers get locked and eventually people use thier tokens and move to another server and now that locked servers die. they have to keep transfers paid. make an atleast 3 months cooldown and stop locking high pop servers.
I’m strongly against this too. the game at it’s core was desgined to be a Open World PvP game. for whatever reason that didn’t work, they made a fundamental change and made it PvPvE or PvX. that’s what we have now and if you seperate each part of this you will ruin the game for both sides. IF they choose to do this tho, i want the alpha build for pvp servers TBH.
Paid transfers are quite normal in MMORPGs the thing to really look at the reasons why people move servers. Last thing you want is decent populated servers leaving in waves. AGS need to analise the causes for players to server hop and find a way to eliminate some of the friction that would cause players the need to move.
I’m aware that shell companies and the entire territory control have caused a great deal of problems related to this and matchmaking can be another. It would be great if AGS could add a matchmaking option for Dungeons, Arena and OPR. I don’t have a suggested solution for the companies as I do not do wars or have anything to do with territories.
I don’t think dividing the remaining player base into 2 versions of the game on separate servers would solve this issue and would shrink the potential number of players you could join in a server. How would this system work? Could someone transfer between a PVE and a PVP server or would it be locked to a character? I think it could be done but it’s a lot of work to carry out and I think AGS already have a lot of pressure with the current workload.
I literally cannot tell you what the tax rates are in any town, nor do I care, because it’s such a small part of the game, and I am at best a casual player.
And your reply shows just how out of touch you are, probably because you already have maxed out everything and no longer even notice the tax rates.
For the majority of the player base and certainly for new/returning players, they are huge issues. No upgrades, massive taxes, huge imbalances, no invasions, no lower level mutations, no expeditions etc.
Try going on a few other servers without being maxed out and see how ‘easy’ it is, instead of spouting from your ivory tower.
I dont know how this turned into a PVP vs PVE Discussion, but the issue isnt that there is PVP. The issue is the transfer rate! It need to be raised SIGNIFACNTLY from 3 days to like 60 to 90. We need to stop encouraging companies to transfer to other servers just to take the gold and items and move on to another server. Lets get back on topic.
Just farming Borvarn for funsies, getting hatchets for my crew.
As you can see, I’m hardly maxed out. Probably a couple hundred hours of PvP track and mutations until I’m done. The point is, territories just aren’t that important to character progression on a macro level. Sure they can help, or even, just even, slow you down slightly. Ultimately though, you can play the whole game largely ignoring them, just as I do, and still be a great pace to max out your character.
You should stop making up false accusations and learn to talk like an adult.
Its devolved into not being about the original Topic and its literally just causing arguments. Its not worth keeping up when people like you completely change the subject of the post.
i changed nothing. The reason ags has payed transfers is that i just told. more mmos done it in the past if its your first mmo i get it. i didnt spam didnt diss anyone you have your opinion i have mine have a good life your self too
Nice twink toon by the looks of it- how many others do you have?
How much in the company Treasury? How many territories it own? How much have you gained from it, been able to enter invasions, wars etc which many are excluded from? Thought you were largely ignoring them? Who are the other players in the party at the top?
I should post one of my other toons up too…
Either that or you have spent more time on the forums than playing the game. Which might explain a lot…
All your pretty pictures show is nothing related to the actual way it is on many servers: one company controls the market, has pots of money and ruins most crafting for others when they let everything crash.
Nice crafting on Leatherworking, 4 times around is quite a few tries at 600 gs. Not to mention the time it takes or having the tables etc available plus gears etc…but apparently you can ignore all that and craft to 200 without the right tier table as not having it will only ‘slow you down slightly’.
So couple hundred more hours, so another six months at your current play rate?
