Deliberate node stealing

Sad days.

It’s only ore though. Learn to laugh at your misfortunate and congratulate the guy who stole it from you.

Don’t take it all so serious and enjoy yourself.

It’s part of the game. Not sure what you are complaining about.

I just have to ask… is it actually stealing when you have not even mined the node?

In most pvp and survival games, resources are the main points of contention/conflict and typically, the stronger person/group comes out with the resource.

My guess is that because pvp is ‘optional’ and players cannot be touched, other players are just getting resourceful at the resource collecting game. Although I have never implemented this strategy and griefing is a subjective term, I do not see this act as griefing as the person is not doing this to annoy and/or irritate the player for their enjoyment, they are doing it to gather the resource.

Stay alert and pay attention, use skills to outrun the incoming mob before they can aggro it on to you, move out far enough that you have time to circle back and grab the node while the person that first grabbed aggro contends with the mob ect.

Yeah sure, except there are extreemes to this…had a guy follow me around trying to get me killed by tagging about 15 mobs and dragging them near me while i was just questing. Still not sure why mobs switch targets to players who take no action but anyways…after about 45 min of trying to move on and avoid this behavior i ended up having to just tele out and go to a complete other zone. It’s not always about a node…some people are never happy unless they are ruining the fun of others and AGS could easily step in and fix this if they cared to.

Has anyone who had this issue tried getting/crafting armor specifically for gathering nods? for example armor with every slot possible filled with threat-reducing gems? I’m curious if that helps. Imagine the vindications you’d feel when someone tries to train mobs to you and the mobs stay focused on the conductor.

Edit: Didn’t mean to reply directly to Clandestine. Sorry about that.

nope, this happens “for funsies” as well…had it happen to me a few times now. No node involved…just a bored level 60 griefing low level players.

The fact that mobs randomly drop threat and switch targets without a player taking action(even if crouched and somewhat out of the way) just means the aggro system is broken in some way. Gems probably wont help.

I don’t even know why people can pull mobs to you and they aggro to you without you doing anything anyway. It’s such an odd system.

I’ll challenge that “probably” when I get home.

I believe you are making the same assumptions by assuming there are more than two players. The way the sentence is structured, the OP could simply be referring to ‘players’ due to this happening multiple times with different people.

i hope it does work, but even without threat there are ways around it. They can train mobs on themselves and stand right next to you. Any attack the mob does will also hit you and knock you off the node, giving them a chance to press E and steal it.

but wouldn’t the mob just interrupt them too?

I never said that it won’t happen this way sometimes? My point is, the act of someone grabbing a node because they had aggro on a mob and the other person picked up that aggro does not necessarily suggest ‘griefing’.

oddly…because it generally hits them first and then hits the person mining the node, they have the upper hand when spamming E. It’s not perfect of course…but it actually works way more often in favor of the griefer than the node miner.

I think going around and dragging mobs over to somebody with the specific intent to kill them/disrupt their gameplay is 100% griefing, but it doesn’t really matter what you or i think…it matters what AGS thinks. Seen plenty of other games where this was a bannable offence.

Do the same back to them or find another place to mine

250 gathering perk: Gain Grit while gathering.

This is a stupid good idea.

That’s exactly what I do. Well, to be honest, I’m always mining while I’m on my way to doing some other stuff. Maybe that’s why it only happens to me occasionally and not often. Hell, I;m probably guilty in some people’s eyes that I’ve beat to a node for stealing it if they are just hanging around in that area and feel like “it’s their spot”.

Well, it’s not really the same because I don’t train mobs and I’m flagged PVP so if you got a problem you know what to do bruh. :rage:

TBH it’s a form of “Griefing” and it’s technically reportable considering the whole “Respect each other” message they gave when starting up the game with various reasons.
