- Desync & Lag -

I’ve encountered desync my entire 2.3k hours playing new world, and I am not sure why. I’ve had 100s of people say the same thing, while 1 person I know has apparently had no issues. This is mainly for OPR as the game of PVE outside seems 90% Better, and experiences minor hiccups, but rare. Also, over 5000 OPR games played, wish there was a tracker for that.

The Problems:

  • Slow Attacking Weapon (Rare, but happens)
  • 2-3 Hits on average playing GH/WH for my hits to finally register.
  • Players on both teams in OPR are 5 seconds behind(Or me, whichever) This happens ever so often, not as much as the constant desync.
  • Weapon swapping working so oddly, unreliably, unless out of combat. I do understand there are attacks/spells that prevent you from swapping I do believe? Well, that’s not it. I feel like the old weapon swap from January was more reliable… Well it was, for me.
  • 5 second delay in combat, I have to pre-predict my hits 5 seconds prior to as to where they are going to be… This only happens when more people sign onto the server…

The Bugs

  • Character refusing to turn around, and the only way the character knows how to move is west/north/east. This problem has auto fixed it self after 5-10 minutes of being OPR. (I got this a game ago, and it did not auto correct itself)
  • Random Location option after death, Thankfully this is usually fixed by relogging to main menu, then back into the game. (Many have spoken about this over the course of 7 months off & on, well it still exists)
  • Fast travel failing in PVE Land.

My PC is fine, and runs any other game with no issues… (including Lost Ark)

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080
  • Intel Core i9-10850K CPU @ 3.60Ghz
  • 32GB Ram
  • Vsync on inside the game, I visualize tearing (sort of) while it is off. My Monitors are not the best, but should have nothing to do with the desync & lag, and if it does better game optimization is required.

Same speeds here and main screen showing 1 bar connections to every server. I don’t know what to do anymore… this last update is causing some yucky connection issues. I just called my internet provider and chatted with tech support… they scanned my network and said all was well… asked me what game I was playing that was causing me trouble… I replied New World… the agent literally said " Oh it’s probably that game"… don’t really know what to do … lots of people on Vahalla are reporting stability issues and connection issues and lag issues and desync issues and queue bug issues (mine goes up not down…) Help please

Yeah, the fishing or merge, whichever update has caused huge performance issues since then. Really bad right now. Prior to update it was still bad as usual, but not this bad. I’ve noticed in prime time hours it performs the worst. The additive lag we are experiencing right now is due to high server population I think. I’ve heard it from multiple people that the servers are not as stable with more people online.

Hello @GlowSticks,

I’m really sorry you’re having issues with the desync and lag at the game, the subjects you mention would be better handled through a support ticket, so please reach us via chat using the following link: Contact Us | Amazon Games to create a support ticket and review your case deeply.

Please make sure to have the DxDiag and Gamelogs ready once you reach support, you can pull it following this steps:

DxDiag report:

  • Go to Windows Start search bar and type dxdiag.
  • Click on dxdiag.exe.
  • When green progress bar goes away, select Save All Information and save the file to their desktop.

GameLogs:

  • Game logs can be found on: \Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\AGS\New World\CrashDB\reports\

If you need further assistance in any other issue please don’t hesitate in reaching us again!

Cheers!

I did the following, they wanted nothing to do with dxdiag at the current time. Data was submitted, and should receive an email. We’ll see, and I will update the post if any news.

Just because you have high download speeds, it doesnt mean you have a good connection for NW.

I too had exactly the same problem with the slow mo swinging weapons, character twitching, teleporting etc.

This is to do with input latency, top left of your screen and not the other latency which is top right.

I had this problem for so long until i plugged my internet in via cable. It completely went away.

I am connected via ethernet. My point was not only the internet. Besides out of 100+ games this game is the only issue. If the numbers on the top left side were valid which they are, I wouldn’t encounter as many issues as I do. If they were higher sure.

50 MS can be problematic(slightly), but we’re talking 5000 MS feels here.

Weird and an annoying problem.

Maybe one size doesn’t fit all.

It’s just strange as I know exactly about slow mo animations, lag etc.

My input latency would sometimes spike and sometimes not but still had the problem.

I was running an old machine with a 10 year old cpu, intel xeon lol. And an old wifi card.

I changed to cable and my problems went away.

I then rebuilt an entirely new pc with 15 12600k and rtx 3060 with 0 bottleneck and a new motherboard with wifi 6. I now don’t need to use the cable cause the speeds are faster than prior.

Im on dry tree one of highest pop servers. Also did an invasion last night, no issues.

I hope they fix it!

Yeah there has to be some key component that is going on that is nearly making this game unplayable for me. I don’t mind a little MS lag. I am on US West Yggdrasil. I’ve asked everyone I know if they are lagging, and they are. Especially when the server becomes more packed.
So, no idea. It seems like not everyone is experiencing this on the server either, because I’m easily outplayed. Throw out a grav well for example to someone quite near me, he’s already a football field in distance as I’m throwing it. lol

More or less the same system specs, I lag constantly on Ygg as well. Especially when doing instance based content, like dungeons. Even open world seems too have it.

Yeah OPR is becoming more and more unplayable for me. No wonder 90% of the population left.
It’s always been an “us” problem, when clearly it’s their engine.

Why did me editing this post bump the topic… lol

I don’t think the desync will ever be fixed. Tonight, I got rubber banded off the edge in Lazarus multiple times. Thought maybe it was just me but a lot of people are experiencing it and just not saying anything because they’re used to it.

Yeah, but it’s never been an “us” problem.

Couple of months ago there was a thread with hundreds of people talking about it and reporting it and it never got answered. Before we lost A LOT of players. I can bet that a lot of players were lost to desync.

But it got swept under and met with a standardized reply.

Interesting I haven’t really tried dungeons. Maybe I give that a whirl. I really don’t have any desync issues while out in the open world. Occasionally, but nothing like OPR. Even when Open world pvp was big back in November? It wasn’t as bad. They keep making it worse as time goes on. Like looking at OBS studio, and capturing what’s on that monitor so it keeps an infinite loop of the same shit over, and over getting worse.

Lol

I don’t have many issues aside from dungeons. I do think it’s worst for me in dungeons which I rarely even do. Don’t like getting my ass slingshotted through my head off a cliff and looking bad in something that’s easy because I light rolled.

Somehow, their server side always decides I want to gravitate to some abyss.

You played at launch, yeah it wasn’t nearly as bad back then. I don’t have issues in OPR, or anything else, really.

I’m on Ygg too.

Well I play at least 50 opr/day each one of them is different in performance. It’s like a random goody bag. I usually run 2 games at once, the other game is running super smooth. Either way, I’ve tested not running it for several tests, it doesn’t matter lol.

I’ll try to make some clips of it. If I have the energy. Seeing as twitch is getting more, and more clunky, it’s kind of difficult to make clips… Make it more annoying then it needs to be. Used to just be able to look at recent videos and clip something from it.

Also, still no email received, I assume due to the weekend.

I’ve changed to El Dorado, if they didn’t run tests already, well tired of waiting. This game is wait simulator…

/gl0wsticks at twitch if anyone wants to help me diagnose. My bit rate is not 100% great, still trying to tweak that, but I’ve seen worse quality streams that at least they are getting better performance.

Update on this.

I did an invasion last night (finally after the company kicking me twice to get their company in, that’s another story though) and during this invasion, everyone’s game froze for like 10-15 seconds as if the client crashed. It then came back and was fine.

No Dysync, just this global freeze of the client for a while.

I haven’t had any problems in open world or expeditions though but now I can say I’ve experienced a problem.
