Good morning Forum, I want to tell you the impressions I have of the great axe and why i think is overpowered. I was a Spear + Rapier user, played 737,2 hours to this game, many players in my server copied my build after they see me in outpush rush but now im using great axe and here is why.
1.- Great Axe has on average +20-30% Base Damage and +8%-17% more base critical damage than every other weapon. You will do more damage and scale better just because base values are higher.
2.- Great Axe Skills can deal double the damage of an average skill. Reap 225% damage (110%+115%), Maelstorm 220% damage (110+110%), Gravity Well 224% damage (99%+125%). Also all of this skills hit in Area of Effect and has decents item perks.
3.- Great Axe Lunge/Range is the longest and the sequence of light/heavy attacks does not make it worse as in other weapons. This make chase and aim so much easy.
4.- Great Axe attacks has the best DPS in the game. Combining a good Attack speed with the best lunge and the best base damage makes this result because you wont fail as much as with other weapons. Rapier has way more dps but its almost impossible to aim properly or reach enemies with a sequence of light attacks. I think War Hammer has a proper attack speed for a Heavy Weapon.
5.- Buffs that improve great axe. This is the less important but i think i could be good to comment it since its better than most weapons and makes great axe a beast.
+15% Empowering (3 Light attacks), +10% Critical damage, +15% Empowering and 30% Haste, +10% Empowering (3 foes near), +10% Fortify (3 foes near).
You can have +40% Empowering, +10% Critical damage and 10% Fortify almost everytime in large scale pvp.
- 10% Armor Penetration on targets with less than 50% HP. I dont know why a heavy weapon used by tanks should have this and not a weapon used by a rogue.
It has more buffs but i think it is enough.
