I came back for the group finder. I want to hear the status of it.
I’d love to hear something hopeful about the game’s combat because it’s been trending in the wrong direction for a while.
AGS so when will the Dev video be?
Since Open World rarely happens and 90%+ of the players can’t war at all, much less whenever you want, it’s disingenuous to say those modes are available. PvE has like 7 Expeditions, the entire map for gathering, Invasions, crafting, several elite zones, etc. It is safe to say there is more PvE content than PvP content that your average player can log on and engage with. PvPers can basically do Arenas and OPR on the same maps/layouts over and over again.
those modes exist, simple as that. if no more people want to do open world pvp it’s not the fault of the pve content.
No doubt, but when the only PvP “hot spots” come in the form of forts that lock for 24-48 hours and offer meager bonuses to the individual player experience, you’re not going to find a lot of people turning out just to play peekaboo all day long. Restless Shore offers free fast travel and Brightwood offers free camping, those are hilariously bad incentives to engage with the “PvP content”. Add in the fact that 10 months down the line we still cannot reliably obtain worthwhile loot from PvP kills, just green 500 GS crap, just what every remaining player wants -_-.
Blame obviously falls squarely upon AGS, but it does not take much to get people to be active in the open world once again. They need to better account for multiple fronts at once instead of going full bull in one direction (expeditions or arenas) while disregarding other aspects of the game (open world pve & pvp, war imbalance, etc.). I am loving the hunt for named drops from named mobs with the lvl 63 change and such, they need to do that with PvP is all we are saying (they are supposed to remove the 24-48 hour locking with instanced wars and invasions, though having them flip every 10 minutes back and forth ad infinitum will not suffice).
People don’t do them because they are poorly designed. If they just added a bunch of half baked PvE content that no one wanted to do, we wouldn’t call it a success. Of course, we need both, but some serious work needs to go to redesigning the PvP content that already exists.
Yeah they just need some more incentives for PVP. Actually I almost think that when they remove forts locking for 24-48 hours we might see even less open world PVP. That almost forced people into fewer forts and right before it locked a large PVP fight. I sometimes saw mini 20-30 vs. 20-30 happen right before a lock. I totally agree with you though, how it is now and after they remove the fort locking system, it’s just not enough to entice people to go out and PVP. They need to really seriously consider a moving PVP hotspot system.
That’s kinda what GC was about. It condensed all PVP into one location! We need a system that does this and does so with rewards and incentives.
The end of shard selling! ![]()
I was wondering if they will finally end dodge meta spam and balance heavy armor and block to be as viable as light and dodge.
That definitely is being worked on. Based on the last video at least. I think they want to make blocking more relevant which may help with that a bit.
May i add : What s the point to keep the same ressources needed for Camp Fire Tier 1 to Tier 4 … this is a miss of imagination… if they would increase ressources to make these tents, maybe that PVP fort would take the oppportunity to cap it ! Just saying …
Cant wait for them to talk about how much they love fishing those “epic” fishes again and how fun fishing is for 10 minutes and then talk how unique the new dungeon is with copy/paste content.
I want to know about future plans/content, because the content coming out now is similar with maintenance mod. Like seriously now we have 1 F battleground map for 1 year. The last road map was lite for many people including me. I hope the new road map will be more exciting.
Can you find the video? Wanna see that
You’re absolutely right. When they inevitably loosen the lengthy fort locking, the main course ought to still be good PvP content though at 1-2 hour intervals that can lock in those bonuses for a reasonable, yet relatively brief duration. And if the bonus is not entirely worthwhile for you, the consolation prize for your participation ought to be expertise bumps or 590+ loot. No one wants to waste the time they could be using to progress not progressing, thus offer that alternative avenue for growth through non-instanced PvP as was promised last year.
I highlighted RS and BW bonuses as being woefully insufficient for everyone involved while the 5% bonuses to PvP Track Exp, 10% Refining Yields, etc. make a difference on a macro scale yet do very little for the individual player. These bonuses ought to be increased so that you can tangibly feel the spoils of your efforts come into fruition. I have suggested that they make the bonuses irresistible before like by having the Mourningdale buff guarantee 600 - 600 GS crafts for example. War Loggers will be War Loggers, but offer the average player more opportunities for PvP that are not instanced base. The mode by which “capturing” the fort also should not be limited to planting your tuchus on the point for x minutes, instead there ought to be a last man standing objective, a TDM first to X kills victory criteria, and a King of the Hill timed mode. Need to get people out into the Open World once again.
Fix territory war alt companies and selling territories.
Do a fixed territory war time as all MMO. It was nice the idea of trying something different, but different hour territory wars only open a lot of doors to exploits, abuses and locking majority outside of event.
I have no idea what they will be talking about. I know they have that new zone in the works so might be about that.
I just wish they would mention something about at least having 1 raid so far and maybe a new type of pvp like ctf or something. Maybe even cross server/region OPR.
I’ll have to look, in terms of the dev video it’s pretty early on they reference stances but really do but describe much more beyond that. It was around when void blade was being released and they described the BB, greatsword, and then dagger as a much more distant weapon.
As got the Varangian Knight video I’ll have to find it. Someone on the forums posted it. I saw a slam and charge attack that will likely be abilities that players can use based on how they use other attacks.
