First off, the proposed OPR changes are incredible! And it has been a long time coming. I haven’t been this excited about an update in a very, very long time. However, I’ve watched OPR get destroyed with months of unbalanced and sometimes completely broken weapons. And I am growing more and more concerned it could happen again which brings me to this part of the Gravity Well design change.
We’ve heard your feedback that the changes to Gravity Well on the PTR went too far in reducing its effectiveness, so we went back to the drawing board and are trying a different approach.
AGS, I’d like to believe you are balancing weapons from a neutral vantage point, based purely on metrics, how other nerfs / buffs relate to one another, and not off players who complain the loudest. But the evidence is saying otherwise. Player opinions around balance can often be biased and not based on logic even under their best intentions. And I am left completely confused how PTR Gravity Well went from this:
- Pulling force ends just before Vortex damage occurs to allow players a chance to escape by dodging.
to this.
This new version of Gravity Well includes a root that occurs after the initial pull to help hold your targets in place and includes a stronger slow after the pull to make it harder for foes to escape the damage pulse without using a movement ability. * Gravity (Passive) - Fixed a bug that prevented this ability from functioning.
- Gravity (Passive) - Fixed a bug that prevented this ability from functioning.
- Gravity Well - This ability has been reworked from it’s previous PTR version.
- Improved pulling tech to more reliably pull foes to the center.
- Foes who are pulled to the center of the vortex are rooted for 1 second.
- Increased slow from 55%→60%.
- Slow field duration restored to 3s so that it will last until the explosion occurs.
The end result of this design change is basically two completely different class types having strikingly comparable trees. And one of them is more powerful.
And for what it’s worth the overabundance of roots, stagger, stun in this game is making combat unbearable. NW keeps adding more.
