Development Teams Needs to Routinely Address Negative Feedback Directly During the Monthly Dev Update

If the community stays this jaded and angry with the New World things will not improve moving forward. I see it all the time…a player says, “hey I like this thing about the game,” and then a host of angry dudes jump into the thread and start lighting fires for a variety of reasons. Often a player gets straight up insulted and attacked for liking something about a game they play. It’s insane.

The development team needs to address how much good will they’ve burned with the general community because of the broken promises, dupes, performance issues, and bugs that have plagued the title since launch. Perhaps most damaging was the decision to change the developmental focus last January–now that 97% of the launch population has moved on many who are still around are increasingly willing to admit that was a mistake.

Today, people are angry the game is so mechanically sound and fun at early levels but developmentally defunct and unfun after level 60.

Addressing these things can be a slippery slope, but it’s important developers stop ignoring the criticism being directed at the game and begin dealing with it head-on. People are reading and seeing these things everywhere, so much so the game has become something of a meme in the MMO they read some of the toughest comments and talk about how they’re mitigating the concerns people have.

Do the angry players have a point? Largely, yeah I think many do.
While I absolutely like New World and chose to play it a lot, I get why so many are mad.

For example, on my server the only community that’s still alive and active are the PvPr’s–and, their content is very thin.

  • Where are the serverwide leaderboards?
  • Where are the serverwide leaderboards?
  • Where are the open world PvP objectives that don’t come from a static mission board?
  • Where’s a PvP currency we can earn to unlock skills, abilities, etc? * Where’s the ranked PvP arena?
  • Can dead servers start joining OPR rounds against other servers so they can play the game?
  • Why is there just 1 OPR map. How many times can a person realistically run the same map over and over before burning out?

And look, this isn’t a PvP versus PvE thing. I’m sure there’s concerns PvE players have too and all that would go on a separate list. It’s a logical fallacy, all or nothing thinking, to assume it has to be one over the other; that’s not what this is about. It’s just that on my server, Pluto EST, it’s the PvP community that’s most vocal and active still. PvE stuff happens, but I don’t see people talking about it in my Company or in local nearly as often as I do people forming up for and discussing OPRs.

In closing, I get why people are angry and I’m convinced think the sooner developers start talking about perceived shortcomings and plans to mitigate these concerns in the future, the calmer people are going to get. When people feel like they’re not being heard or are being ignored they tend to get louder, which is the principal reason why I feel general toxicity in the community continues to be a problem and people are giving up and moving on to play other games.

from a marketing standpoint it should be easy to understand why they don’t do a 1 hour presentation of what’s wrong with the game. I would settle for a known issues and a road map tbh. they are really still working on the fundamentals of the game and adding new content to appease the masses. going to see what this road map has in store for us.

Hey there Bubax,
Thank you for your post, and for taking the time to suggest something constructive and specific to address the issues you are experiencing in the game. Lots of great feedback in this thread, and I am collecting it to be shared with the Devs. Thank you.

There is alot of thing , but that is many players problem so i suggest that.

  • orb block dungeons content , gathering mat to do content is abit nonsense , ags should make it how wow mythic + work and if someone stuck to any dungeon let them use mat to reroll it to new dungeon ( can be downgrade orb(progress) as well when they use mat to reroll it) but orb is a bigest negative point for content.

  • Finder group/raid.

  • Cross server for few content (dungeon /pve arena /opr / pvp arena (and if in future we get raid).

  • Better ui for opr or raid if we get.

  • Open world pvp between 3 faction (other way 3faction not even make sense , 2will be enough).

  • Rework own castle reward from gold(tax) to a kinda of mat which one find in invasion/ warr , and let just leader of own control towns get it) so that person gona use it for upgrade thier town’s, and make reward of warr/invasion valuable for them (who is on attack team or def team) , so there they dont need get gold , and also make inc gold for thier faction people’s by reputation in this city’s ( like crafting/quest and etc make thier reputation up by activity , and after ech warr that inc gold split to who is in thier faction with even 1% reputation, but thier reputation should again back to 0 till next warr happen on the city ).

  • If u wana make tax for the house’s , just make a item in crafting so that will abit help to control econamy of gold as well(tradable).

With orbs its an artificial heroic mechanic where in wow you can only do a specific heroic once per day, or used to work that way. Where you could run normal whenever. The next teir content raids is weekly lockout.

Experditions in terms of rewards and difficulty are essentially heroics.

There should be normal versions that dont take orbs. Tuned down gear requirements and like 570 gs drop caps. People can spam for expertise and to learn the expeditions. Considerably less gold per boss like 15 to 30 gold each. So one 30m run is like an opr reward.

Alternatively you could make the expedition chests once per day loots but im sure people would scream bloody murder over that.

Yep! Most PvE only and PvEvP players have their grievances with the crafting and combat systems. As for crafting, it’s unfathomable how can anybody be a grandmaster crafter and have that much randomness in how their work results.

We’ve also have suggested to revamp the whole combat system. As in revising all item perks, all weapon related perks, all weapons’ skill trees and even adding a third skill tree to weapons and some skill trees related to your armor loadout and some other reasons.

Some people even have pointed that the combat system was built around a mechanic that was scrapped (stagger) and that removing it made the whole combat system go bonkers. If we add to that the odd maths in place, which caused the gems bug, the resilience bug and makes crits hit for less than a regular attack or a skill…

Well, just my two cents. I’m waiting for the game to get better before coming back.
