Devs, is furnishing supposed to be MUCH slower to level?

For those of you that are reading this but somehow don’t know yet, furnishing is the slowest crafting profession (by a lot). Not only does furnishing have the highest exp to 200, but crafting furniture grants less experience per primary material than other professions.

Numbers:

XP to 200
Furnishing: 7,905,375
Other Crafting: 1,881,425 (except cooking)
(source: NWDB)

Example XP/mat

Lumber (Tier 3)
Furnishing: Tree Stump Side Table
1128 XP / 35 Lumber = ~32.23 XP/Mat

Engineering: Steel Spear
540 XP / 11 Lumber = ~49.1 XP/Mat

(It’s like this for every tier of material)

Furnishing is an impactful late-game profession that doesn’t create items the player can wear or consume. You can’t even use what you make unless you buy a house. It’s a unique profession; it’s different. There have been posts about the numbers before on various threads, but I couldn’t find anything from the devs about whether or not the difference is intentional.

Also, his isn’t a “furnishing is too slow/expensive/whatever” post. I just want to know if they made it this different on purpose (and if so, why). I assume it is, but if not, that’s worthwhile to know for anyone looking to level it up.

If you do read this devs, thank you for all your hard work thus far! Personally, I’m enjoying the game and, though some bugs are worrying, I know you guys are aware and doing what you can.

Furnishing is supposed to be very costly/difficult to level.

Overall it provides a lot of bonuses that cannot be had otherwise, drives value in housing items and opens up a whole mode of gameplay.
