Getting 600 GS Watermark doesn’t give you the gear.
I’ve finished 2 Crafting skills 200 WELL before I … well I NEVER looted any 600 GS item I could use… NONE… Maxing Crafting and MAKING your item is 30x faster then if you did HWM, then grinded to loot something useful.
Crafters got the high end gear FULL SETS in 1/100th the time it would take to loot a full set of decent gear.
I’m not a fan of making the elite mobs as difficult as they are.
I consider it legit, because it was the one of the only ways in the game at the time.
I didn’t see crafters saying "Well, crafting Iron Fire Staffs seems too easy to get 150 Arcana, and then Health Potions… No No… Thats too easy… I won’t do it… "
No… They did it… They took the easy XP… and they didn’t complain…
I will gladly engage in pve content when they implement it. I will however not log on every day to do eternal pools, malevolence, imperial palace, caminus, mangled heights, siren, myrkgard, scorched mines or any other form of mindless “jump up this rock and loot chests while mobs retreat” to revalidate my 500 hours spent gathering and crafting for my legendary bow. Fuck. That.
Getting to 200 crafting trade skills is the easy part. Crafting a 600 BIS gear is the hard part. I wasted way too many gold trying to craft 600 gear with the right stats and perks. Overall I spent around +300k total into all my crafting skills, major trophies, asmodeums, and other rare mats just to craft some useless gears that can’t even be sold for fraction of the cost. Unless you were the first wave of ppl that got jewelcrafting to max early on, most crafters lose money. LOTS of money. I don’t think I’ll ever make my +300k back by crafting. I didn’t play beta/alpha much, so I didn’t know jewelcrafting was the only one that give profit “early on”. I leveled that very late. Can still make profit on it, but is too little and too competitive. Meanwhile people who farmed daily chest runs before the nerf got high HWM, made lots of money from selling high GS gears, and even now is still able to make some gold thru each run. A heavy gear with +4.9/5% gathering luck or +2.7/2.8% luck can still be sold for $100+ minimum. They could sell for a lot more before, and they dropped like candies. Crafting one would cost a lot of money on mats. After doing lots of crafting and wasting hundreds of asmodeum. I ended up buying most of my 600 GS gears from HWM farmer. My guildmates who farmed HWM early on made $200k+ just from selling those high GS drops. And they got shit ton of refining reagents too that could be used to help leveling their crafting. They also got lucky that trophies price have dropped so much. Another money save. Crafting got more expensive, but trophies price dropped shit ton. So that even out the easiness of being a 595-600 crafter. But I do agree that this change is for the best in the long run. We just gotta keep grinding i guess… Whoever grinded HWM early on got lucky that’s all.
Nor does getting to 200 in crafting, at best you’re around 550GS average. To actually roll 600GS you need to do way more than level to 200, you need to buy 3 houses, upgrade 3 crafting trophies to the very highest rank, which requires extremely rare materials and high furnishing crafting which itself is insane to level, and then you need to maintain taxes on 3 homes at the same time. Then you need full sets of 600GS gathering armour to actually gather rare materials, you need +luck food which requires all the best cooking ingredients, and all the recipes to make them and a 200 level in cooking. Then you need absolutely tones of rare materials which almost never drop and are under constant demand and competition form other players, as well as bots camping nodes. Even when you get those rares the materials are time gated so you can only refine a maximum per day.
And after ALL THAT, if you can just about eek out 600GS average with all the most expensive mats, sometimes you still need a settlement buff, you still only have a chance at rolling legendary, and you still only have a chance at rolling the right attributes, and only a chance the perks will be good. If not all those expensive mats are wasted.
So boohoo you don’t get epic 600GS items at 600HWM but neither do you with crafting. That’s the whole point of this post, is that the grind for making weapons with high GS is just as bad as the grind for HWM which is why some people chose to do 1 and some people chose to do the other.
But in this patch only 1 group of people get royally screwed over, the other walks away with a massive advantage. I straight up don’t think that non crafters actually understand how hard and time consuming crafting is, their attitude seems to be we sit around in settlements crafting 24/7 and all that’s required is 200 skill when that’s like nothing…the skill is almost none of the grind, it’s just a little bit of effort at the start of a much longer journey to being good at it.
Are you ignoring the fact that 80% of all 600 GS items are crafted?
If CRAFTING it is the hard part, well it’s still 100x easier than looting it.
I know its unfathomable for you to think that you would need to put in nearly as many hours into getting 600 effective gear score as someone who doesn’t skip end game content, but this is just bringing crafters/merchants into line with people that are playing all of the game…
The only people that really made out here, are the people that did both… THOSE people got a major leg up on the competition, AS IT SHOULD BE… They did a lot more to earn it.
so you work 40 hours per week and i work 80 and we should both get paid equal amount ? lol, millenials who have never seen communism. I was born in soviet union, it was not pretty.
They either need to leave the watermark system alone or reset everyone’s to 500. It isn’t fair to reset them and it isn’t fair not to. That’s the whole thread summed up. This is why they should just apply these changes to future expansions and gear above 600. It’s ridiculous to negate players efforts. I mean at this point a full wipe of the servers and a restart from day one would only get a little more hate than what they are doing to the game. It must suck to know how bad the players feel about your game.
This is more like we both start a marathon but after the first 100 people Finnish they reset the race and you have to start again but this time it’s not a running race it’s a crawling race.
Yes, just put the last nail in this coffin…Crafter are mad now, with a reset everyone who grinded WM would be equally mad. If ending this game is the goal just do it already.
I have basically arrived to the conclusion that NW may as well be an early access game and the rules we are subjected to will likely change very dramatically patch-to-patch (which is very crappy, but it is, what it is). With that said, I do not think it is fair to reset anyone’s progress just because the rules in which they played against were far less grindy or more favorable.
As someone who has played on/off since launch and not even max, I’m content with the idea that the more hard-core crowd have played and benefited from very dramatically different rulesets. If they didn’t “reset” tradeskills with 1.1 - why should folks who invested time in the HWM grind have their progress reset?
I appreciate the communicated intent behind the expertise system. However, once again, I do not appreciate what seems like the “actual” intent based on data leaks and the expressed to-be state in early 2022.
My biggest concern is potential gating that will happen if this turns into a GS treadmill. I also have concerns around the role of crafting in the end-game as well. It feels like crafting and the idea of a rich, player-driven economy is not at all a focus for AGS - hope they prove me wrong.
You did both, crafting and Mines/Myrkgard/Siren runs. You’re right, it wasn’t that hard.
AGS is now asking everyone to grind for almost a YEAR to get to that same power level. The Expertise bumps on PTR are like… 1-3 Expertise per bump. You get 1 guaranteed bump per day. You have to do this for every slot.
You did not do that. And now you are here telling people that’s fine, because you get to skip that.
And you seem to somehow feel that your few weeks of grinding is the same as the year that other players will have to put in.
