(Devs Read) What do you think will bring players back to new world

Some full loot pvp zones with good gathering to encourage gathers to flag , besides gatherer pvp can be pretty fun especially if you know that you can potentially save time if you dont get ganked too much.

Current methods to raise high water mark kind of bore me , combined with the dead server im stuck on I just uninstalled.

If you want my personal opinion on what would save this game and bring me back. Fun ways to increase HWM and PVP content aimed at gatherers.

Exactly. I told my mates 7 weeks ago (chill guys they gonna merge within 1-2weeks at best), since it’s 6-7weeks ago my server died completely.
They all moved on, I was the only idiot beliving there’s no way they won’t merge and lose 400k players without even trying.

I bought FFXIV, I don’t even care anymore at this point. After 500h+ in NW this game is goner. It’s such a huge dissonance between devs and their own game it’s unbeliveable.
They don’t play their own game. This here is just a numbersgame of how much can we drag it out for the nolifers.

They should tear it down, get new people and bring it out again in a year with an apology.
I will give it another chance after merge, but even now when I log in everything is a mess.

Like I don’t even want my mates to give it another try atm cuz it’s just a pile of shite. Which looks and sounds stunning, but otherwise is a soulless piece of dead wood.

Likely when expertise goes online and that won’t SPEED up wm, this game is gonna be over for anyone even comming in new. Freaking Gait/Bug World

This, you weren’t the only idiot, so many of us were stupid enough to believe they would actually do something.

  1. Merges.
  2. NOT giving players a second transfer token.
  3. New mentality for weapon balancing where buffs for other weapons are considered before nerfing others. And nerfing core features of a weapon are only used as a last resort…and even then aren’t ever used.

Oh man thats something I didn’t even consider… how stupid would they have to be to give another transfer token out AFTER merges?

That’d be the finally lol whoevers in charge clearly has brain damage straw for me.

Remove the watermark system entirely along with the tuning orbs from the game and add proper content instead.

What parallel universe do you reside in where it’s logical to think ā€œContentā€ is the problem?

Over 80% of the players dipped out long before even seeing max. That’s not 80% left because no ā€œcontentā€ā€¦ That’s 80% left before even seeing/experiencing the ā€œcontentā€.

You really need to take a step back and ā€œactuallyā€ look at the game as a whole. It’s easy to dive into something like NW and willfully put blinders on and exist in this permanent state of ā€œcognitive dissonanceā€. I myself have done it for games I was passionate about because it’s easy.

What point is there in dedicating resources to more ā€œContentā€ when the current ā€œContentā€ is so broken? The foundation of the game is cracked and your repair or better yet hail mary is new ā€œContentā€?

No I totally thought dying made repair costs cheaper. Good thing I took all my armor off and quested in lower level zones since the respawn rates were too high in level appropriate zones.

Whew! What a relief!

I bet you didn’t actually know that you make a profit after paying repairs unless you fail to much.

I don’t even know what to say to this…

I’ll just repeat what I said and then end this stupid exchange.

OP asked what needed to happen for people to come back. I answered, as did others. It’s literally not possible for you to change someone’s mind about what needs to happen for them to return. So, aside from just being argumentative because you’re bored, I’m not sure what you’re doing in this thread.

That will be the end of my responses to you.

Damn. I swear, the trolliest of the trolls always hide their profiles, making you have to go through extra steps to ignore them. lol

Well we are not talking about some arbitrary opinion here. We are talking about facts and economics. People say that they have quit the game due to high repair costs when in reality they are not paying anything for repairs. They just think they are when they only look on the cost for repairs and not the income from random coin drops from mobs…

Have you for example every calculated how much coin you get from kills compared to repar costs? Do you have any idea how much you have actually paid for repairs if anything at all?

I think they have good bones here to be honest.

The idea of having PvP indirectly affect PvE is pretty good, but they’re going to need a stronger end-game.
Actual raids, not just ā€˜difficult dungeons’ (though they’re on the right track with the Mutations system.)

Ideas:
Larger scale raid
An endgame-level dungeon in each territory- and the faction that owns that territory has 1 free (Orbless) run per player per day. (Wintergrasp was one of the highlights of WotLK because winning was more than just bragging rights.)
NPCs with a set amount of coin where junk can be sold, like Skyrim
OR the same system they’re using now, but instead of 1.5-3coin per salvage… it would be [substantial value] for salvage up to a certain limit each day.
More weight to specific elements in PvP (Someone had a thread on this earlier, and while I didn’t agree with their vision of implementation, the idea is solid.) Perhaps a system similar to ESO where Cold saps stamina or slows stamina recovery, Lightning drains mana (or lowers mana recovery) Nature has armor pen, Void has built in drain health, Arcane has higher crit, Fire has armor reduction
Definitely more types of enemies. NW gets a lot of hate over having the exact same 5 types of enemies through the whole game, and could use a few more.
AI Companions (such as combat pets) I mean… this is definitely me doing fan-self-service in that I would LOVE to roll around with a Wolf companion.
2H Sword, Weather Staff, Wolf Companion AGS. C’mon make it happen.
Being able to transform into one of the sentient non-humans. (I.E. Angry Earth) or even being able to roll as one in a later DLC or expansion.

Stuff like that.

The game has very good bones, at least in my opinion.
(Thus I was subsequently devastated at the complete nerf to my character in the expertise system… and elated that they reverted that punishment.)

It just needs more flesh, especially at end game.

Damn i posted the thread and forgot about it come back to 90+ comments. Hopfully the devs will take a look at the comments and get a good idea what they can do!

Bodie1980 is a known troll. He’s argumentive because he can be not because there’s an actual point behind it.

Even if what you said was partially correct or there’s merit to it. If it doesn’t fit his narrative or you said it in a way that can be subjective he will hound you about nonsense.

I’m still playing but I have had ideas through discussions in our group and can share here:

  1. merge small servers or offer them a get off token, being on one myself is a death sentence atm, lock ability to join smaller servers and get them out, give people a month to get off then shut them down and auto move people to a place within the cluster if they haven’t moved.

  2. reduce the cost to repair greatly, lower the parts needed or raise the cap of parts for master repair kits or make it so you can only repair in town at a largely reduced rate.

  3. have an item degrade so that there is a loop and no wall that people come across (get gear, nothing to progress towards and that’s the end, the market dries up because everyone has everything) just make it reasonable so they get their time out of it.

  4. no function disabled, they should not have to shut down any function for longer than a few hours, if a patch is that bad then just revert servers to the previous patch and fix stuff, test it properly so that we don’t have to go weeks with things broken or making the game frustrating.

  5. fix weapon balancing, at the moment a great axe user can pair with a war hammer and have insane CC, have the ability to wear heavy armor like a tank without affecting damage dealt, hits for 3K per hit and crits higher, hits multiple targets per hit, execute does 7k to light armor on a crit, casters, for example, max hit is 2.5k on a crit, has to worry about mana and does not get grit on shots and can be easily staggered about the place (a heavy armor tank should never out DPS a glass cannon build).

  6. no BOP, its stupid (bar maybe named epic drops).

  7. create an equal 600 legendary gear for each class set, light void has STR ???

  8. add in arenas.

  9. get rid of cooldown timers on materials.

  10. increase storage, decrease the weight of things, offer something better than the head-banging storage management 2.0. I want to play the game, not mess with my storage and disappear to 5 different towns to store stuff, it’s a damn nightmare organizing anything big and it really doesn’t need to be. (I think this will help with the anti-travel issues).

  11. make more fun / varied fighting mechanics for AI, don’t just make them HP sponges.

  12. implement stats windows so you can see your luck with maybe a bar graph showing how it affects your luck (what it opens up).

  13. make all materials relevant (who else just throws out 100’s of shadecloth?) just make it upgradeable like you do with gems and use motes to do so, this also solves ur boring 9hr grind on ori for legendary mats that no one actually wants to do unless they want void.

  14. show the max storage weight when looking at towns from the map.

  15. lessen the RNG on gear, this may be easier if you get rid of timed materials atm it is just not worth it unless you have no life and have nothing better to do, get rid of the RNG aspect of crafted items, just make it more of an investment to fix it to keep both options?

  16. get rid of watermark and add in crafting materials for 600 gear that needs to be gained from these high-end areas, make it a true player driven economy and no dropped gear bar named epic items from bosses which are the only thing id have on BOP make crafting have a true purpose for all levels.

  17. get rid of orbs of make them easy to get, let people enjoy your content and dungeon running.

  18. more vanity and cosmetic options, let us look like armour we have and like, also make sure the dye actually works on all armor (voidbent? feet and head don’t dye properly sure many other examples)

I just feel more ease of life, accessibility, and less time-gated stuff will lead to people just enjoying the more fun content of the game, keeping the game flowing, focusing on adding more PVP and battle mechanics, adding in a capital city with special bonus’s that can be fought weekly with capturable positions that add points throughout the week, the most points gets to wage war, add a war camp where you have to donate raw materials for offence and defence, granting you bonuses to each side during the war?

Yeah but it wasn’t when it launched. They had to remake and relaunch

I figured as much, I ended up putting him onto my long list of ignores. At some point you realize people just want to argue for the sake of irritating you. lol

On the plus side, the forums become more pleasant by the day. I actually enjoy discussing things with people who aren’t purposely trying to be a holes.

I’d say more polish to the game engine.

Often time when you run down steps the physics don’t work and your character doesn’t stick to the top of the stairs and they kind if shoot out into the air and fall.

It’s a little thing, but overall it makes something as simple as stairs feel janky and broken. Was like this since alpha, I’m not sure if it can fixed or how it’s being ignored.
