You aren’t being forced to do anything. You can play as you normally would and still get rewarded as a PvE player. PvP receive an extra bit of luck for flagging up because of the inherent risk that comes with it.
People say there’s no risk but I’ll prove otherwise. Yesterday I saw a guy from the Marauders faction who was trying to farm those big Lions from Ebonscale Reach. I actually did let him kill all of them, and as he started to skin them, I ran in there, killed him, and skinned all the Lions he spent minutes on killing. He got pissed, came back, and I killed him again. There you go. That is why PvP players are getting rewarded.
ITT: “I’m a diehard PvE player, literally nothing has changed for me, and I’m furious about it! How other people play the game, and the benefits they get for their riskier preferred playstyle ruins my experience somehow! I want all the benefits they’re getting without any of the risk!! Other people feeling rewarded for their style of play makes me mad!!!”
If I JUST flag, no harvesting gear, I probably get less effective luck than a PvEer who’s wearing luck gear. When you factor in A) the amount of time any fight might take is time I’m not farming nodes, and B) Even if I’m a god that wins 80% open world skirmishes, 20% of the time I’m dying, sent back to town, and now need to double my travel time, and take a less effective route.
If I’m flagged AND wearing harvesting gear, I’m at a massive disadvantage versus anyone I come across in open world who isn’t. This guarantees the amount of fights I win are going to decrease, and I’m going to spend more time dead than if I was wearing normal PvP gear.
It’s so baffling to see people who obviously never flag up, try and tell people that do just how safe and easy it is. If it’s nothing but upside with no risk involved, why aren’t you flagged up? You should be flagged right now, and super excited you got a free 30% harvesting luck, with literally no downside if that’s true, right? You and I know that’s not the case. Stop lying to yourself.
I don’t think it is 20x but with full skinning gear and amulet on plus 3 trophies plus skinning food I get at minimum 200 scarhide+ smolderhide.

Hated this change because it promoted even more toxic tribalism. It was quite wholesome for awhile when we just waved to an enemy zerg and we simply ran past each other. But its time to move on. This game is pvp centric. Time to accept that there is no room for pve-ers here.
I flagged for PVP for the first time this evening.
I wanted to do a PVP faction mission to protect a location and check out the bonus we’re supposed to get. Bonus was pretty insane, there was no pvp at the location, went to another area and got jumped by two 60s (I’m 51)…twice… and was given the added bonus that my protect a location completion quest got reset for some reason and didn’t realize no azoth porting and my spawn to the nearest location was on a different map.
I’m not a huge fan of PVP but it’s simply not enjoyable how it is and while the bonus is nice, it’s just helping those that already prefer PVP. Nothing has been solved with this system except benefit the already PVP base.

The Devs wanted carebear pvp, that game was alpha and is gone.
