I really don’t think GA/WH is dominating as much as you suggest.Maybe just on your server.Your server wars never changed to vg/snb heavies for point control?
Also you say you are playing spear…so yea you should expect a nerf there too seeing as how there is an bug/exploit using spear making the rounds.
All us ga/wh users wanted was a slight lunge buff, 3.5m to 4m. Not the old 4.5m but a slight bump or middle ground. Instead they decide to make grav well one of the most op abilities ive ever seen lol.
Sure if the lag/desync element weren’t so rife then maybe you’d have a point, but talong with the grit bonus, easy hit box, and good damage it’s the game on easy.
But sure continue to pretend it’s even and others are just bad.
It’s not about the target of the user - it’s about all the cleave that occurs even if the attacks miss. All pvp in this game has point based objectives and GA/WH runs the point. People can’t even choose to avoid this cleave if they want to push the objective.
Also - what is this mystical spear bug you’re talking about? Because if you just don’t agree with it being strong and want it nerfed, that doesnt make it bugged and that doesnt make me an exploiter lol. Bugs/exploits don’t get nerfed. They get fixed =)
I can’t tell if you are trolling or not. You slammed on GA/WH users only wanting nerfs to other weapons your whole post, but then in the very end called for more GA buffs to make it extremely OP again.
This is just false, part of the reason rapier was so uncatchable was the extremely low cooldowns of evade and riposte. Evade was basically another two dodges on demand plus the evade itself. Riposte allows rapier secondary players to play like absolute trash and run themselves out of stamina then hit riposte. By the time the riposte animation ended they were back at max stamina and could dodge the again immediately, the stun was worthless against good players. By the time you got through baiting out riposte, evade twice, and 3 more dodges before and after the evade their riposte would be back off cooldown.
This created a never ending skill rotation where rapiers are not catchable if they aren’t trying to fight.
Both of those skills have had their cooldowns increased a lot. Which means less dodges overall. and less invulnerability for rapier players. Most importantly the never ending chain kiting skill rotation is gone. I have no idea how you can come to a conclusion they aren’t anymore catchable without looking extremely biased.
That ship sailed months ago. Now this game has less concurrent players then P2W MMOs. Ironically I actually do fear there will be little chance of a comeback. More so when there are currently other MMO Dev teams. That are willing to give the playerbase what they want and need.
I wasn’t expecting this game to go below 20k concurrent players before June. But sadly this very much is the case. Now if AGS actually do want New World to succeed. They are going to have to reverse quite a few Dev decisions.
Allow all mage weapons to be competitive, and useful as melee weapons in their own right.
Balance gear weight system. Heavy should not be 4x tankier, yet more mobile and do more damage than glass cannon Mages. They should either increase the base movement speed of light weight. Or they should drastically increase the damage bonus on light weight. Or they can drastically decrease the damage of heavy weight. Or decrease the base movement speed of heavy weight.
Reverse the decision to change New World from a Skill based oriented PvX MMO. Into a inferior Non-P2W version of a crappy looking Korean Grinder with inferior combat.
Reverse the decision to change the combat system in general.
Make the game actually rewarding and respectful of the gamer’s time and effort. By getting rid of most of the RNG on loot drop and crafting in the game.
Do whatever it takes to make performance for upper mid-end and top-of-the-line PC specs good.
If they can’t do that. Then they will not be able to convince those of us who left, because of said reasons. To return and spend time and money on their product.
I agree with everything you said except for the armor. Light seems to be really strong on the current PTR. Maybe a minor damage bonus to light around 5% would do be more balanced. You are trading survivability for movement and around 15% damage at the moment.
You could take that exact sentence and swap it out with FS/IG from the early days of the game and it would fit perfectly as well. I think the only builds that never had their time to shine are dex builds. There’s a lot of players that demand their weapons to be perfect in every aspect of the game which would just kill it.
Stop pretending that playing mage is hard. You barely even need to aim as long as Ice shower and ice storm are a thing. For the record I play both in wars and idm swapping to whichever is better. Maybe I’m just too used to bring the player not the build tho.
At the end of a day a good player will always be better no matter how low the skill floor for the build is.
they’ll be musket food in war. they may have grit, but the animations are slow and they still get shot. I’d expect to see archers and mages in medium more then bruisers
I can counter VG/IG by a well-aimed javelin to disrupt their combo, and outheal rapier damage. Usually.
I can’t survive a single player who manages to combo the same meta WH/GA skills that guarantee death, and not just to me but anyone nearby because of the AoE. I can’t stop their grit attacks and I have no escape skills. I just take it and say FML. They’re specced and geared out to deal 3000+ damage a swing in some cases, and self-heal. I can’t even run away if they have Bloodlust.

There is no escape from vg’s root but you have to be idiot to get damage in gravity well because all skills provide you to get out mechanics. Vg has root and there is no escape Life stealing everything and it also hit range.
Ig has root literally for 5 seconds
spear has ultra damage and more lunge than ga. and with proper refreshing items non stop cc.
