I am currently rolling a musket/spear combo light armor. What is the best stat build? 300 Dex and 200 Int?
Full dex. You don’t need any int. I mean, get cons too. Dex/con. Stick to a main stat for the weapon of choice and add cons. Secondary stats for weapons scale less than the main stat.
Or you can go full int, slot a elemental int gem on your musket and it will scale as good as it scales from dex. It will also apply to rapier but spear doesn’t scale off int at all so that wont do for it.

Honestly it depends on how you want your build focused. For me, I wanted big powder burn ticks, and went for the bleed from crits/headshots, both of which are damage over time elemental effects, which scale off of intelligence (yep, bleed is considered an elemental dot).
I slotted in a gem to deal arcane damage, 40% of which scaled off of intelligence…just as @Nosorius was talking about. I also went rapier for close-in encounters and to finish off those wounded by the musket volley. It also has a gem (currently lightning damage for that one, I believe) on it to scale some damage off of intelligence.
I also found many enemy seemed to resist thrust damage, so having elemental damage applied helped here.

Watched a vid yesterday where a guy tested full Dex vs Full Int and then Full Int + Gem on a musket and a rapier. Full Dex was about 2% higher damage than Full Int on normal hits, was all. Int gets a 30% bonus on 1st hit though, so arguably was higher overall due to that, but still nearly identical.
Full Int + Gem takes advantage of the elemental damage boost at 150 Int, plus better damage scaling on the converted damage, and as such was doing about 5% more damage than a full dex build on the standard hits.
IIRC, Int perks past 150 don’t really do much for damage, with 250 extending dots by 30% and 300 only giving that single 30% boost on the 1st hit vs an undamaged mob. Since the weapon scales more off Dex anyway, a split 250/150 while using a gem might be a better way to go.

Just ran across this guy’s testing video. He did full int vs full dex as well as 200/100 splits, both with and without gem.
TL;DW – best “basic hits” which is what most people will always be getting anyway was from a 200 INT/100 Dex build with a gem.
