After upgrading the armor I still have the original 4 blue pieces, alonq with the purple versions. Is this supposed to happen? I guess the blue pieces are not very useful anyway.
Yes. Those lower-level armor quests (there are 4 or 5 of them) do that as the last step. No idea why but it has always been like that with the blue items remaining.
I’ve got all that junk stashed somewhere hoping that someday they’ll come to their senses and at least up the gear score of the purple to 590 so we can upgrade it and use it at end game.
Same with those weapon quests that end up with a non-upgradable 580 purple weapon.
With all the running around the quests require the payoff should be a more useful item especially since most of us never complete them until we’re 60+ and have much better gear from simple quest rewards in Brimstone Sands.
Salvage it all for a few gold or sell it and hope for a small profit.
590gs purple and gold items are readily available within the game from a variety of sources.
There really is no need to wait.
Oh I’m not waiting lol. I’m at 625 expertise and gear score.
As long as I have free stash space it hurts nothing to keep them hoping for a future patch that makes them useful. It’s not like I need the tiny amounts of coin from salvaging those.

A future patch will hopefully never render them useful as there are far too many items currently in the game that are 100% useless imho.
I think they had to do that when they fixed the being able to drop them and still have the crafting mats in your inventory and not being able to move them for over a year, so that might have been the hot fix for that
