The longer a company owns a territory, the less they earn from it, until they earn nothing, or maybe even start running a deficit. This diminishing return has a timeout. Resetting the timeout requires that a different faction own the territory for “x” number of days.
At some point the diminishing return trips a switch that automatically puts the territory up for war between the other two factions. No matter what, the current faction is going to lose it. They can take it back in “y” number of days if they want to, but it will still be worthless to them if “x” number of days haven’t passed while the territory was owned by another faction.
I haven’t thought through every possibility, but could some version of this idea work to prevent megacompanies from owning the entire map?
I think what might end up happening there is that at the point where owning the territory isn’t profitable anymore, the controlling company will just throw the war, or have a shell company take over.
I insist on the idea that the territories should belong to the faction and not to the clan and the taxes for territories could be divided by faction if they persist with that idea, perhaps through some banking system.
At launch I witnessed a lot of inexperienced companies run territories. Not their fault, the game was new. But the learning curve to manage, defend, and win invasions was a little steep. It was annoying dealing with high taxes and jumping between territories to craft/refine.
I don’t mind experienced companies running territories for a while if they got their shit together. No maxed taxes and keeping stations at T5.
I don’t mind change either, but I don’t want there to be so much handholding for others that every other cycle I have to deal with broken stations and high taxes because the entry point was set so low. If someone has good leadership and management skills - go for it. If someone just wants to own a territory for namesake and not for the good of the community, stay the hell out.
It’s definitely an idea that will get a lot of pushback because factions have never actually mattered, people don’t have a sense of community within the faction really.
I can’t say. What I can say is that I’ve already seen similar suggestions and the responses to them such as “people just want a handout without doing anything” so on and so forth. Which goes back to what I was saying in my last post. People are connected to companies, not factions. People don’t give a shit about factions for the most part.
I just think all taxes should be uncontrolled, and the entire servers taxes are globally split between all territories.
Give taxes to faction that can be used to upgrade any of the faction controlling towns and start upgrades. Companies can withdraw money from entire faction based on number of players.
2k per member.
Any money gone unwithdrawn after a week of the statement, it just sinks into deflation. Taxes auto adjust based on money sunk so that income regulates itself and there’s no surplus causing wealth imbalance.
If a faction has 6 territories and at the end of cycle has 800k unwithdrawn, it disappears and taxes are reduced to…
(Tax Rate - 800k/Total Income x Tax Rate) x 2.5%/Current tax Rate Formula isn't right, I'll fix it in a bit.
I think I fixed it…?
(2.5% - 800k/6m x Tax Rate) x 2.5%/current Tax Rate
2.5% - (.13 x 2.5%) x 1
2.5% - .00325 x 1
2.175% x 1
2.175%
(2.175% - 0/1m x Tax Rate) x 2.5%/2.175%
(2.175% - 0) x 2.5%/2.175%
2.175% x 1.15
2.5%
After further thought, there is too many holes in this.
