Pretty sure I’m aware of who is bad here. I think AGS does have blame for not patching highlighted security issues but that doesn’t take away blame for those who engage in illegal activity. And yes, a ToS is a legally binding agreement.
Using the word “collusion” tells me all I need to know about the mindset being used here.
Gold dupe has existed since launch and was reported in the beta, as were a lot of the major issues that are hot topics around what diminishes the overall experience in this game.
They knew about this, as in a developer responded to the report in these forums to a post explaining exactly how to perform the dupe.
Another post on here pretty much states they have the tools to monitor all of the gold in the game.
The conclusions I can come to are that they do not have the tools to monitor all of the gold in the economy, or the gold dupe exploit was so minor that it didn’t warrant this until it leaked over the weekend.
Either way allowing a game to go live with a known gold dupe as easy to perform as this one is incompetence at best and intentional deceit at worst.
The issues with resilience and onyx gems mitigating all damage instead of critical damage has been known of for over a year.
By doing so they they preventem ppl from making huge amounts of money that they would need to track and take away which they will already have to do so but they just stopped increasing their workload…
The gold dupe is a problem that existed before the game went full retail, it was brought up by quite a few people in the beta testing phase that it existed. The loophole didn’t get closed. But I’m sure that now, somehow, AGS will fix it all Soon™
Exactly, exploiters are doing their job. AGS are not.
What is the point of disabling all trading but keep the game going, and don’t increase storage limits. We can’t sell anything, no one was warned beforehand so you’re stuck loaded up with gear.
It’s dumb. My first MMO, I never come to game forums, but this is a joke. If they are releasing a game you cannot play, then they should offer refunds. This is just like the Cyberpunk fiasco.
Going to provide a bad analogy. If the pipes in your basement break you turn the water off before you start pumping the water out. That way you are dealing with less water.
I kind of decided a couple of days in this is all kind of a test run. Even open BETA can’t compare to the sheer numbers when a game goes live. There were bound to be missteps. Granted there have been some really large problems that seem to persist. I don’t mind missing a feature for a day or two or even if the game is offline for a couple of days if the end results are a much better game going forward. I’m hoping to stick around and play for a very long time. I still play ESO and have since early access. I would like to do the same here so a few inconveniences now I’ve decided are not going to bother me.
You never actually lose your house so that won’t be an issue no matter how long the economy is down. You will definitely lose the travel aspect of your house if your taxes do indeed lapse, but the minute you pay them you are free to use the recall point. I actually went four days without paying my lapsed taxes and didn’t make the payment until I absolutely needed to go back home.
What makes me very upset is that they’ve known about the ability to duplicate gold/items using this exact method since closed Beta and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. There is no more game breaking bug in a sandbox MMO than the ability to duplicate items. It ruins the economy potentially forever. The gold flows through the system. People used this dupe to buy territories quickly, to get their crafting maxed quickly, to then create and duplicate those crafted items to their company and then wage war against honest companies.
I was fine with the game bugs around combat as I figured they’d eventually get fixed. I was fine even with the lag in War, assuming that would eventually get fixed. I’ll just focus on crafting and whatnot until it gets fixed. But gold duping for a month has been going on, Amazon knew about the exploit, and chose not to do anything until it finally got out to the masses on how to do it. The economy has been destroyed. It didn’t have to happen. It should have been fixed in Beta (where a developer posted in the thread showing they were indeed aware of it). Nothing was ever done. That’s insane. How can you be aware of a gold duping exploit and not fix it?
