Because servers on US East, Latin-America and also APAC are up. Dunno who from US West and EU Central are playing, but if so, they’re not.

Same issue here. Started Steam 15 minutes after maintenance was complete since US East servers are up and immediately prompted with a disk write error. Tried all recommended solutions and nothing works. Uninstalled and can’t even reinstall the game. Thinking we just need to wait.
Same issue on Asia Pacific server got:
An error occurred while updating New World (disk write error):
E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\appmanifest_1063730.acf
Had tried:
- Clear Steams Download cache.
- Repair Library Folder.
None were working.

Update: A better solution if not “the” solution was found by Aijalon a few posts down. If you browse to the location of the .acf file mentioned in the error you can follow his steps or do what I did which was fully close out of Steam, delete or move all the .acf files from that directory, re-launch Steam and you should be able to update the game. Installing on another drive did work as well but that may not be an option for everyone.
So I may have found a solution although not sure why it works. I’m now able to reinstall the game on my C: drive but not my D: drive where I had it previously with all my other Steam games. Those having the issue, if you have a second drive, try installing on that one. Will update again once the download/install is complete and if I’m able to run the game.

Same issue here,
West Coast - Playing on an East Coast server.
Srteam:
Disk Write error. Can’t validate game files because it gets stuck at 0%
Cleared Steams Download Cache as well.
Desktop Icon:
Launches game and during login says I’m not logged into steam.

Hi,
You can try the following fix,
- Go to the main Steam install directory “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam”
- Find the 0 kb file named “.crash”, delete it and try again.
Thanks, did it by deleting .crash which has 0KB, but nothing happened, same issue.

Hi,
It might also have to do with the directory you have installed the game. Make sure to try closing steam and starting it with left click and choosing to “run as administrator”.

i am also having the same problem have plenty of free space tried all the fixes, validating wont progress at all

Manage to make it working by make a backup of the said acf file on the error message, emptying the original, running New World >> Error Message >> Remove the empty acf, rename back the backup file to original file >> running New World again, it is updating.
And New World is launching, not too sure on what happened on that acf file while it entries seems ok:

Installing to my other drive seems to have worked which is annoying but it works. All other games still download like normal only new world had the issue lol. If I wasn’t so hooked on this game i would have just said screw it XD.

bloody hell lol, i installed it fine on the C drive for some reason people are having issue that have it installed on other drives… so weird

Same problem and the game has completely dissapeared from my Steam Library. First time I have seen something like this

deleting that acf file for me allowed it to start updating

KK, that maybe the main action needs to be made xD
I tried the solution Aijalon posted but it did not work for me. However, there was a file called ‘appmanifest_1063730.acf.tmp’ which I deleted and it started working.
